Slipping further behind volume goals, had to do a visa run so its not all down to laziness.

After reading this interview with odds oddsen;

http://nutblocker.com/interview-with...it-to-the-top/

I started to think about how unprofessional I am in terms of my poker, When I had a job working 30 hours/week my volume goals were 30k hands/month. Now i'm full time and struggle to maintain that total.

+LifeEV decisions are largely down to this, living by the beach in Thailand and having the freedom to drink whenever I want obviously takes its toll, and this is something I dont want to sacrifice for the time being.

Although there is plenty of other aspects in my life that I can tweak in order to cram in more hours.

Things that have to go:

- Porno - I waste an obscene of amount of time grinding porn sites.

- Sleep - Something ive been trying to do for years to no avail.

- Grinding Hangovers - I tend to not play when hungover, but I need to realize against most opponents my "Hangover C-game" is still going to be +ev.

There may be some other leaks in my life that im not aware of yet, so ive came up with a "mini goal", ill take notes of what distracts me during the grind and afterwards see what Im able to instantly trim off my life and the others I just need to except will take a long time to improve.

Mini Goal

50 hours at the tables over the next 5 days

Naturally the challenge is going miserably, logged 22 hours in the first 4 days, Just need to grind for 28 hours today and its challenge complete right?

Some positives to take from it, played a 12 hour session yesterday, first one of that length in at least 6 months. Trimming some life leaks, cutting down on dat porno, been forcing myself to get out of bed. Beers and girls have cost me this one, although nothing I can do about that :P

Been playing awful, breaking even on the tables, just getting horrible board runouts which has resulted in me taking some lines that just make me sigh. Gona watch some videos to hopefully click in the thought process and run good.

lol I swear Ive been trying

Went out for the Thai holiday "Loy Krathong" the other day. I didn't know too much about it(I believe its some sort of offering of thanks for water and sun, but that could be massively incorrect), but what I did know, is that it involved lighting things on fire and beers, so couldn't see a downside.

Congratz on your thread. Have just read all since the first one. Congratz!
Your just doing what I want to do. Travel playing hu.

I was pretty fine at 50 and 100nl. But at this last week, after i got smashed at a 4tables match losing 1k vs a guy and 1.5k at the day, seems that everything is going wrong now.

Appear like i just run into the top of the villain's range, always, although im aware that im playing my C-game. Im pretty frustated.
Im putting more volume than ever each day and manage to lost all this days that i play alot. Dunno if putting in alot of volume like ~5 tabling regs and fishs all together is making me play poorly, but probably.
Lost about 2.5k this month (half my roll), went to tryout 4tables 50zoomnlhu and lost $500 just today by the morning.

So after today, the ultimate bad felling im having with poker. I just googled "nl hu downswing" and have found your first thread and did read everything.
      And here i am. hehe.

Will u try this zoomhu out ? Do u think that the fish's r going to be sucked to the zoom tables ? and regular hu dries even more ?

Just looking for some tips to get over this "downswing". I mean im pretty sure im a good player, but having severel losing sessions is just annoying and im felling awful and kind lost a lot of confident. Never felt so bad about poker.

Anyway, had to write something somewhere about this im passing through.

      Cheers for the

Sounds like you're going through a rough time,

Guess my best advice for dealing with downswings would be:

Life balance: Ive fallen for the old degen habit of not being able to get poker out of my mind when losing, and therefore play twice as long in an attempt to grind out of the swong, but its not healthy. Make sure you're doing something daily that Free's up your mind from poker.

You would suck if it wasn't for downswings: Downswings motivate everyone to get better, it also gives us a realization that we still suck at poker, it may not mean much now, but the extra work you're putting in will pay off in the future.

MGOP: You mention C-game, have you read MGOP(I'm kinda in love with it), if so go through the necessary exercises deliberately for the next few weeks, if you haven't read it, buy it, in 2013 everyone plays "fairly" solid, the biggest edge left in poker is through tilt control.

Ive played about 3k hands of zoom so far, Im surprised to say I love it. Ive never had the chance to just sit down and bash out 1k hands in <2 hours.

Most fish I talk too IRL don't like zoom poker, they already find online poker too fast for them, I'm aware that thats a small sample size of fish but I think its something that fish try once, lose alot, and then go back to the norm. So I think the HU lobby will be fine.

That being said its pretty disappointing that we are one day into the launch of zoom and the only regs that sit are the ones that already battle.

Hope somewhere in that ramble you find something helpful If you ever wanna talk over some hands etc ill be game

Poker has been hard on me this month, cant seem to get any heat going. Also feels like im putting in far too much volume against people who are better than me, But I don't wanna be stuck at SSNL forever.

      Graph so far:

Its official, im laying off the beers for awhile until I get back on top of volume. Zoom HU has helped a ton, already bashed out 3k hands.

Sadly Logged on today to find my HUD isnt working on it anymore , I feel blind without it so cant play. If anyone who reads this has any idea of how to help me ill be eternally grateful (nothing on the HM2 forum has worked).

            November wrap-up

A disappointing month in terms of $$$ made, despite running $500 above ev I think I was battling negative variance for the majority of the month. On the plus side HU zoom has arrived which makes it very easy to hit my volume goals.

            Poker Goals For November

[ ] Play 35k hands of HU - Got 30k hands, will be aiming for more next month

[ ] Play 15k hands of 6 max - Played ~2k hands, with the arrival of HU zoom it looks like 6 max could take a back seat for awhile

[ ] Add 3rd site - HU zoom means I can get as much volume as I require with adding a 3rd site, if zoom dies or I move up Ill look at a 3rd site again

[ ] 6k+ profit - Pretty disappointing to only ship 2k, but hopefully I can go full boss mode next month

            Life Goals For November

[x] Keep up the gym work - Been way better than I thought I could ever be at keeping up this habit, only had ~5 days off in >a month

[ ] Visit a new Country - Decided to just go to Kuala Lumpar and back for my visa run which killed any chance of seeing a new place.

            Graph for November

            Running gooood at zooooom

            Poker Goals for December

            - 50k hands

            - 5k+ profit

50k hand goal could be tough, went out to celebrate months end, got hammered and currently suffering a 2 day hangover 400 hands played, not the best start

Not setting any life goals as I plan to focus mainly on da pokerz, maintaining gym work should be natural now and have no desire to see a new place just yet.

                Thanks man

Super tilted right now, trying to cram in hands to hit this 50k month target, also if I did go into boss mode Supernova is still a possibility(~80kVPPatm). Im fully committed with everything, sleeping (slightly) less, willing to grind, only a few nights out. One thing is still lingering that is making it impossible to put in any real volume, my laptop.

Constant lagging/freezing is not only costing me ~3bb/100, but it also results in rushed decisions when im afraid of freezing, less hands/hour, etc, im sure anyone who has sat with me in the zoom tables has noticed this.

Hopefully someone who reads this thread will be laptop savvy and be able to help me out, fwiw ive tried literally everything in regards to deleting content to installing tune-up programs. I also dont really want to buy a new laptop until I return home for abit in April, although could be tempted if the tilt becomes too strong/something really catches my eye.

What im looking for help with is:

                - I have 500k hands in my database, which im sure is the main reason for my laptop ******ation, is there anyway I can put these hands onto a usb and delete them from my comp?

                - Any sexy laptops you guys know of that would be especially good for da pokerz?

                Yes, of course.

PT4 has an option to export stuff, to back up the entire database, and to purge it from, say, a year ago till today or whichever way suits you.

hem2 has it aswell, just back up the db to make sure, and then you can start a new one...
id look into a laptop w ssd disk, should make hem much smoother .)

I want to see your BOSS MODE ACTIVATED
At the start of December i had 76k vpps and now i am at 80k. If i can do it - you can too.
Go for it. There`s big difference between supernova and platinum, so i think its worth it.

Cheers, I had a quick look into it, and sadly jumped too quickly, backed up my database, then Purged the entire database(thinking id still have stats etc like HEM1, turns out its different for HEM2), then in an attempt to export all hands prior to 2013 I wiped my whole database. Im assuming since I backed up this is still savable?

                Hey,

just found your thread and we're kind of scarily similar. I am a 25 year old guy from Northern Ireland who lives abroad and plays hu professionally. Weird, huh?

Anyway, best of luck to you!

Maybe you should change the tittle to sleeping around the world while sometimes playing HU Zoom

Having no HUD worries, poker is alot less frustrating without having to worry about timeouts and surrendered blinds. Put in a marathon session yesterday, pretty sure I played my most HU hands in a single day(4200).

Supernova is still a ambitious hope, doing a visa run to Burma tomorrow which sucks, it takes up 12 hours, and don't have much time to waste if I wanna make a go at this.

Running pretty goot, My time has been spent button clicking 4+ tables of zoom, but only had 2 losing sessions this month(one of which was for $26), fingers crossed I can have a great month for volume + $$$ won, (currently +2.5k, Have no graphs for the time being since I exported the database, and dont wanna mess around with it incase my laptop goes slowpoke again.)

Ha, yeah - it's a pretty sick life I guess, but most people I know have jobs so that keeps it a bit more tame for me these days, which I suppose isn't all that bad.

I live in southern Germany, have for a few years now actually.

I'm from Co. Down and went to school in Belfast. What about you? To be honest, I'm just going to go ahead an assume that we know each other somehow. We've come this far... don't let me down!
