IMO you need to focus on either SNG or Cash and really learn the game.
For a player new to poker I would agree with this but our hero is not new and playing both is completely standard.

Keep up the good work.

I guess it depends on the type of person really. I usually focus on just one type but after a few months start to think about the other then switch.

Just now I am hitting cash and whenever I have a free evening try a micro MTT. No idea is this is +ve but its a nice break from cash and I always like the idea of luckboxing a big score from what is to me a standard 4-bet in a cash game.

Anyway, keep up the work and I'll be following!

Just glad that I have now hit the $150 mark allowing me to play the $1.00+.10 45 and 90 man tourneys. I have excelled on the 45's at the $10.00+1.00 in the past and am sure I will do well in these. Hopefully, if the weekend isn't too busy, I will have some time to sit in a few. I know with father's day this weekend and all, I'm sure the wife will have me running around like mad, just praying I have tonight to get some good play time in.

Edit: Just received $2.70 in rakeback from FT today, new bankroll $157.63.

The 90 man touneys are so soft its unreal. Micro players seem to have no idea how to play deep stacked. I love mixing a few of these in, $5 ones pay out over $100 if I remember correctly.

Argh wish I had rakeback on FT

Shoot an email to FTP support. You may be able to add it. I've had my account with them since '07 and just got RB through rakebackpros.com about a month ago... Wish I'd had it when I was playing 400NL lol...I'd be almost breakeven on cash !

Power back on but the storms are kicking up again. Going to post some hands instead. I was going to post these in the uNL FR forum, however, due to the large number of hands, I will post them here in order to not spam that forum, I will post a link from there to here. Any questions, suggestions on better play of these cash hands is welcome as that is why I am posting them.

Hero is roughly 17/11. I have included the most pertinent stats of Villains in below hands.

Hand 1

Villain is 25/6 over 32 hands.

Poker Stars $10.00 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

SB: $11.09
BB: $14.17
UTG: $10.71
Hero (UTG+1): $10.78
UTG+2: $10.23
MP1: $10.00
MP2: $4.41
CO: $7.71
BTN: $13.48

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG+1 with K A
1 fold, Hero raises to $0.30, 2 folds, MP2 calls $0.30, CO calls $0.30, BTN calls $0.30, 2 folds

Flop: ($1.35) 4 J 7 (4 players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($1.35) 5 (4 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $0.60, CO folds, BTN folds, Hero calls $0.60

Should I have raised here?

River: ($2.55) A (2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $1.70, Hero calls $1.70

Is that river foldable for me or should I have bet/folded perhaps?

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $5.95
Hero mucks Kd Ad
MP2 shows 5h Ah
MP2 wins $5.66
(Rake: $0.29)

Hand 2

Villain is 54/17 over 24 hands.

Poker Stars $10.00 No Limit Hold'em - 8 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BB: $5.04
Hero (UTG): $13.48
UTG+1: $34.91
MP1: $6.11
MP2: $4.46
CO: $9.54
BTN: $9.24
SB: $10.09

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG with K A
Hero raises to $0.30, 3 folds, CO calls $0.30, BTN calls $0.30, 2 folds

Flop: ($1.05) 3 4 8 (3 players)
Hero bets $1.00, CO folds, BTN calls $1

Standard continuation bet hoping to push opponents off weak holdings.

Turn: ($3.05) J (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.30, Hero raises to $4, BTN raises to $6.70, Hero folds

CR'd to try to take it down representing an overpair. What do you think of this play? Should I always just check/fold in this situation?

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $11.05
BTN wins $10.51
(Rake: $0.54)

Hand 3

Villain is 23/9 over 299 hands. Winning player (1.14bb/100) over 600k hands.

Poker Stars $10.00 No Limit Hold'em - 7 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

UTG: $10.00
UTG+1: $7.48
MP: $12.19
CO: $19.65
Hero (BTN): $13.59
SB: $10.05
BB: $10.00

CO posts a big blind ($0.15)

Pre Flop: ($0.30) Hero is BTN with K K
2 folds, MP raises to $0.40, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.20, 2 folds, MP calls $0.80

Flop: ($2.70) 8 5 A (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks

I could have ran a standard C-Bet here, and probably should more often, especially in position. That or I need to start checking an AK in this situation more as most players are unlikely to check IP after hitting their ace and I think this reg would know this and play accordingly.

Turn: ($2.70) 6 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $1.10, MP raises to $3, Hero folds

I think I had the best of it here, but not sure what to do. Should I have flatted that raise and fold the river or check behind if he checks? This looks more like a set to me than an ace of some form.

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $4.90
MP wins $4.67
(Rake: $0.23)

Just those 3 for now, although I have more in the queue, storms have passed, it's time to play some cards =).

As I said, veryyyy soft and good for the bankroll building. The take a hell of a long time to finish though. I don't know if you can still do this but I used to open every table to observe at the start of the tournament so by the end I had good stats on each player :P

3-4 hours depending on heads up play. About 3 hours to get to the final table at these stakes, closer to 3.5-4 hours at the $11 level.

Alright, here's the big update we've all been waiting for. Swapped to HEM for my data recording, although I am still using Poker Co-Pilot as my HuD (hate to run parallels while playing for the sake of HEM as it lags me to all hell).

Tonight's data first:

$2.00+.25 STT Data
20 Games
$9.00 Net Profit

$1.00+.10 MTT Data
2 Games
-$2.20 Net Profit

Overall STT Bankroll Data
276 Games
42.8% ITM
16.5% ROI (not including RB)
Profit: $102.60
Rakeback: $18.63
Realized Net Profit: $121.23
New STT and MTT BR: $176.73 (Remember I didn't start data recording until I had hit ~$70 from ~$43. Also does not include rakeback due for the week)

Challenge Progress:
$50.00 ----> $1000.00 = $950.00 Required
$126.73 Current net
13.34% of challenge complete

Not going to bother to include MTT data yet as I only have 4 games played. Net profit of $1.90.

Also, going to be excluding cash game data from here on out, I may dabble a little bit still, but it is not pertinent to this challenge, nor will I be putting in the volume to make any BR changes on that aspect relevant.

Hopefully, I will be able to move up to the $5.00+.50 games soon. Originally my plan was 100 buy-ins at that level, and while I have thought about skirting that plan, for the moment, it is still in effect, it may however, be adjusted once I break the $300 the mark. If the games are anywhere near as soft as the $2.00+.25 then I should probably move up at 50 buy-ins and just set a tight stop loss before I have to drop back down. We shall see.

Until next time...

Just finished a 4 hour session. Ran decent, still below EV by a bit.

$2.00+.25 STT's
Games Played: 29
Net: $40.95
ROI: 63%
ITM: 59%

$1.00+.10 MTT's (90 mans)
Games Played: 3
Net: $2.28
ROI: 69%
ITM: 67%

Took a nasty beat to take 11th on one tourney, got paid but not well. Would have had a nice big stack but my AT went down to A6 on the river (flopped the A, 6 on the river).

Daily Net: $43.23

New Bankroll: $218.16 (Played a few more tourneys late last night).

Still pending rake back which should be in excess of $7.50 paid on Friday.

/cheers

Just finished another session (about 4 hours)

Games Played: 33
ROI: 8%
ITM: 45%
Today's Net: $5.55
New Bankroll: $223.71

Played well but had what felt like a ton of bubble busts (6 total).

Made it through most of the field in the Daily Dollar, but no cash.

Also cashed (minimally) in the one 90-man I played tonight.

$8.16 due in rakeback on Friday. Well underway to my goal. Hopefully I can get near EV over the next few days (today was poor).

Anyways, have a great night all, looking forward to my session review and tomorrows session.

Yikes ! Ugliest start to a session I think I've ever had. I literally dropped 11 buy-ins before I cashed on any STT.

I also played a $1.10 +1.00RA. Knocked out of this tourney early. Went on to cash in another 90-man, but once again, weak as hell as I seem to have the same number of chips I started with every time I make the money.

Anyways stats are below. I was going to post some of the ridiculous beats I took at the start of the session, but I really don't feel like re-living them.

Games Played: 28
ROI: 3%
ITM: 43%
Today's Net: $2.10
New Bankroll: $225.81

Ran pretty hot on the last batch of tourneys, but still hardly squeaked out a profit. Just happy to not finish down 20 buy-ins lol...

STT Challenge Start to Date:
Games Played: 374
ROI: 18%
ITM: 44%
Net: $152.10
Profit Incl. Rakeback: $177.35

Not bad for $2.00+.25 tourneys.

If I can avoid some horrible runs, I will probably move up after 500 games or $375. I'm thinking I'll wait for $375 after the swing I felt tonight.

Until next time.

Games Played: 25
ROI: 9%
ITM: 44%
Today's Net: $4.95
New Bankroll: $229.41 (additional $8.16 in rakeback due Friday)

STT Challenge Start to Date:
Games Played: 394
ROI: 17.6%
ITM: 44.2%
Net: $155.70
Profit Incl. Rakeback: $182.30

Well that's all for now. No plans this weekend that I know of so will play as much as the wife permits. Graphs and more updates to come this weekend. Going to start only adding graphs on Sundays to make the thread easier to browse. May update with an interesting hand or two after my session review tomorrow afternoon.
