Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

Icky night at Harrah's, dropped 3 buy-ins live and got knocked out of my tournament very quickly. Will only be playing live one or two nights this week. Tonight should give me a lot of good STT grind time. Can't wait til I get off work and build my BR up some more. Looking to play 50 games or so tonight.

gl, I grinded my way from 25$ to 1k playing STT's and it aint no walk in the park but it's certainly doable. (Assuming you're a beginner in sng, if you are expierienced this will go fairly easy)

Keep us updated

Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

Dropped $100 on stars today just cause. Wanted to play a little cash but sick of seeing my losses on tilt for cash from when I tried to make a run at $2/4 when I pull up PTR.

Played 6 tables of $.05/.10 for about 4 hours, no SNG's tonight
1341 hands
Tonight Cash Net: $36.58
Tonight SNG Net: $0.00

Cash game BR: $136.58
SNG Bankroll: $78.10

Probably playing live tomorrow so won't get more online play until the weekend.

Thanks for reading.

Edit: Decided to fire up one set of SNG's will, update in a bit with results.

Well that was a waste of time... lol ... Played 8 games, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, breakeven after 8 games. 2 bad beats to knock me out early (AK vs KQ) and (KK vs QQ). Got it in with the best both times, lost both times.

SNG BR: $78.10 still
181 games, 12,700 hands

I enjoy following your progress.

What type of cash are you playing? 6max?

Keep up the grind and gl at the tables.

Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

BAE, I think we both seem a lot alike.
I haven't deposited yet to dabble in cash, but I sure think about it.

I play mostly 18mans, and what I've found is that when I'm running poorly I really focus on STAYING TIGHT. I find myself too often getting comfortable and thinking "I can beat these players" and then playing some weaker/marginal hands and getting myself into tight spots.

Full Ring cash games. I only dabbled in SH games a few times on Tilt back when I used to play FR regularly. While I did ok, I still prefer FR. It's more suited to my style of play (cheap flops set mining, suited connectors, etc).

My biggest problem when I'm running bad is that I tighten up so much I frequently find myself down to $t1000 as blinds hit $t50/100 and I haven't yet played a hand. Works to my advantage and disadvantage. I'm usually short stacked as we hit 5-6 handed unless I've picked up a monster, but then I tend to get pretty decent respect from table and am able to stay alive until I start catching some cards.

I used to play tons of cash games. My FT SN as well as stars SN is Botboy141. As you can see, I was profitable at the lower stakes in FR cash games, but got destroyed after some big tourney wins blowing money on $2/4. A 15 buy-in downswing on $1/2 pulled me out of that as well.

PTR shows me as -$8,712 on Tilt in cash games with a -1.00BB/100. -$6300 playing $400NL back in the day over 20k hands. -$1800 playing $200NL over 50k hands. I also lost money somehow at $50NL but was profitable at $100NL, both sample sizes roughly 20k hands. I've played 40k hands of $25NL with a 1.69BB/100 WR.

I had never used a HuD in the past, until I started playing $25NL with a small roll last year (stats started in early 2008). I've done a bunch of research/strategy/reading since then and think I could even better my WR @ 25NL. My one session on stars has me @ 13.72BB/100 but that is obviously irrelevant over 1300 hands. My goal is to try to beat 4BB/100 @ 10NL over 50k hands before I move up.

For now, I will continue to play some SNG's on FTP as I know I can hit my target ROI of 15% post rakeback if I put in the volume, however, I will also be playing cash in order to establish a BR a bit quicker so I can get back into some online play in addition to my live play.

Goals
1.) 4BB/100 @ 10NL over 50k hands
2.) 15% ROI post rakeback for $2.25 9 man STT non-turbo over a sample of 1000+ games.

Once each of these respective goals is met, I will advance in the limits and set a goal for 25NL and $5.50 9 man STT non-turbos.

Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

Nice work

I think with tightening up too much, just try to loosen in position and go for steals.
Especially when you are in spots with 1000 chips and blinds are 50/100, then its get profitable to steal, go for it!

But also, at microstakes, some tables are so action-heavy its rough to find a good spot with position to steal.

I wouldn't worry about this. This happens to most winning players. The main thing is to get it in good when it comes to pushbot time.

BR chart from SNG's as well as Detailed BR chart from cash games uploaded below.

Detailed Cash Bankroll

SNG Bankroll

Should get a bunch more play time in tonight as I'm not heading out to play live except for Tuesday and Wednesday or Thursday. 2 days live this week, 2 days online, plus whatever online play I have time for over the weekend (probably won't be much with Father's Day and all...) I think I will be playing cash game tonight, 8 tables instead of 6, and will save SNG for Wednesday/Thursday.

Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

Played a few more SNG's after I got back from the casino tonight. Got beat up in my step tourneys (tourney tickets left over from like 2 months ago) still have some level ones and twos now but my level 3 turned into a 1.

Had 5 bubble busts unfortunately on the $2.25's, but still came out ahead.

14 games played
ITM: 43%
ROI: 9%
Net profit : $2.70

New SNG Bankroll: $130.18
New Cash Bankroll: $221.76
SNG Net: $80.18
Cash Net: $21.76
Total Net: $101.94

Should have a few dollars headed back in RB Friday as well, looking forward to having some time to grind SNG's the rest of the week.

Poker Co-Pilot since I installed shortly after beginning this challenge, has me as having played 225 $2.25 tourneys, with a net profit of $60.75 for a 12% ROI (and an additional 3% ROI in rakeback).

Looks like I'm dead on target. Can't wait to 75-100 buy-ins for $5.50's so I can start grinding some real money as well as dabbling in some MTT's.

Until next time.

You are doing much better than me sir. I'm in the process of trying to get rakeback on Full Tilt. I'm down at the moment (about -$22) However, I feel I'm back on track and on the way up. Keep up the good work.

Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

Just played another session, 8 tables of 10NL 9 max on Stars. Ran QQ into AA when we both flopped sets. Seemed like every time I Cbet after missing a flop, I got floated, and either check folded the turn, or fired a second barrel and got raised. Every time I Cbet when I hit, all fold =(.

543 hands played
Net profit : -$13.15

Going to hit up SNG's for a bit, hopefully things keep going well on that front.

Will update once I'm done for the night.

Re: $50-$1000 4 Tabling Micro to Low Limit SNG's

Not read this for a while...

BAEVentures, IMO you need to focus on either SNG or Cash and really learn the game. The two require completely different sets of skills and by learning/playing both I think this is a bit of a problem. If you focus on one you will become better much quicker. I will admit I go through phases of switching but I rarely play both.

What I would do is play the 10NL games and occasioanlly play $2 MTT when you have some time. That way there is always the chance of a 'big score' and $2 is nothing if your rolled for 10NL

What do you think?

I agree for the most part. I know my strong suit is in SNG's. I've been playing them since back in PP days when I was rolled for $22-55 BI's. I know my weakness is cash games as I have ditched over 8k between 50NL, 200NL and 400NL (20-30k hands each level), I made money @ 25NL and 100NL, (~50k hands each).

I am using SNG'S to build a roll on FTP that will be used strictly for SNG's and MTT's as the roll grows to 200x BI, but when I only have 45-60 minutes to play and want to do something (IE waiting on dinner or something) I want to use that opportunity to work on my cash game.

I've played plenty of both (over 1300 SNG's tracked by Sharkscope, doesn't include the roughly 1800 I played on PP back in the day), over 180,000 hands of cash on PTR, once again doesn't include old data.

I would like to be able to beat cash as well as SNG's in the long run, I am confident in my SNG game and work daily to improve it, typically via SNGWizard during my lunch breaks, as well as non-stop hand history analysis and browsing the STT forums.

Cash, I am more dabbling in my free time to see if I can turn out a win rate playing a bit nittier than I had in the past at these type of stakes. I would like to be able to grind out a roll in my free time on Stars, that I could use for cash games in the future if I ever get back to the 100NL level. While I have included my cash game statistics here, it is not relevant to my quest for SNG's. I think perhaps though, as I am obviously doing better in SNG's that I should be sticking to them.

I will definitely take that under advisement and maybe just start learning turbos so I can use up that 45-60 minutes nightly to learn to increase my hourly, rather than taking on another game, especially knowing that SNG's are my strong suit, I should probably be more concerned with building a real roll playing them, rather than improving my cash game. Thanks for the idea.
