Alright, another few days in the books. Haven't been able to play as many hours as I want to. I have commitments for the rest of the week and then I can start mixing in MTT's and also take advantage of the leaderboards starting saturday. I also haven't really struggled this badly in a long time playing cash games, just running really bad and not playing great. I have been able to mix in a few small MTT here and there. I used to be a MTT pro many years ago and I feel really lost, I am sure that will change over the next few weeks though.

Balance is now 254. Total profit 224

Another day in the books. I lost a 120 dollar PLO pot on the last hand of the night with, running it twice with 55% equity and lost 40 or 50 bucks in MTT. I got credit for 30 dollars in rake today when I paid 120 so I guess my PVI is roughly 0.25 which obviously sucks.

Balance is now 419 dollars, might get a bit of leaderboard cash. Not many chips for the daily flipout so will need some luck to get a min cash. Wheel spin tomorrow is likely as well for 6-30 bucks.
Total profit 389

Today was the first day I felt semi comfortable playing. Would be nice to bink a piece of the bad beat or something. 20 years of playing poker and I have probably paid 150k to bad beats without ever getting a single cent back. Although would be better to win a piece at higher stakes I guess.

3 more days until I can start putting in insane hours.

Alright, it's been a few months. I am completely broke...but not from degening for once. Had a close family member get sick and really wasn't in the mood to update this thread. Got good news today that the family member is now cancer free, it's a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

I have been doing **** work for **** pay for the first time in my life off and on for the last few months because poker wasn't enough to pay the bills. Between stars and GG I am about 350 buy ins below EV. I haven't made a MTT final table in months either, MTT run may be worse than cash games. It's nothing like I have ever experienced. I am playing against morons and can't win anything, it's to the point where I am cringing even against someone with a 1 outer.

I am not the best player in the world but my expected win rate in the games I am playing is likely the highest in the pool...I generally feel like I am the best player at every table (not a brag because it's relatively low stakes).

I was getting really depressed looking at my Pokertracker graph, each day I buy in, run 10-15 buy ins below EV and go bust and then have to bust my ass again the next day...it's soul crushing. I literally just need a day or two of not losing every single all in.
I decided to just delete my PT4 DB and start fresh today since I got good news.

Another day in the books. My "fresh start" another 16 buy ins below EV.
Have to work again tomorrow so I can buy in again.
One thing is, I have never been this low before...I will never let this happen again after I get a bankroll going.

Not religious but ****ing praying tomorrow is the last day I ever have to bust my ass working for pennies.

I am glad for your relatives, the illness of loved ones is really something that causes real pain.
Compared to that, the variance in poker is dust on shoes.

Just keep trying to show your best game every day and everything will be fine.

Best of luck!

Alright, so I busted my ass in the morning and made some cash. Threw some more money online and got to it. Pokerstars gave me a promo where if I bet 100 bucks on sports I get 50 dollars in spin n go tickets. Figured **** it, it's about 44 bucks in free EV so I threw a 100 dollar bet down on womens Australian basketball. My first bet in quite a while. My team was up 17 points in the third quarter and I had them -8.5. They blew the lead and were actually down in the 4th. They ended up winning but I didn't cover. So that really sucks as it could have boosted my bankroll quite a bit.
I did however win 150 bucks with the spin n go tickets so +50 overall.

So today was maybe the 4th day in the last few months I ran above EV, I know it sounds hard to believe but it's legitimately true. Sucks that it is at the micros but what the hell I will take it.
Played horribly early on, just an impending doom feeling but got through it.

Something to build on tomorrow. For the first time in a while I don't have to work tomorrow but I think I am going to do it anyways. I want this time in my life to be burned into my brain.
I have ****ed up many times but always bailed myself out by grinding, when you run hundreds of buy ins below EV grinding isn't going to save you though. There is no reason for me to be going bust ever again at this point in my life.

No predictions for me moving forward, just lots of poker, there is no guarantee the downswing will end so I will just do my best to power through it.

I lost a parent to cancer not too long ago and this is definitely true. Always goods to have perspective. It never gets easier when a loved one is sick though.

Had hoped stars would give me the 40% rakeback chest but as usual I got the 10% chest for the month so I guess I will play GG for the month, and maybe head to Vegas sometime in October if I don't go bust 8).

Moved my bankroll over to GG 2 days ago. My win rate drops dramatically in fast fold games, I think I am too old for it but I am also stubborn.

I lost a few hundred bucks in MTT, I think I am just going to call it quits in regards to MTT for a while. I finished 13th in a MTT the other night getting itall in with KK vs 99 and K9. Variance is just eating me up. Bankroll is only 515 so I could easily go bust in the next few days if I run bad. As you can see from the stats above I paid $215 bucks in rake. I only got credit for about $50 in fish buffet so I guess my PVI is somewhere between 0.2 and 0.3.

This is the biggest hand I played so far. I think my flop sizing isn't great here, I was pretty confident on river though, snap called within 2 seconds.
This is a spot where I will fold turn a decent amount of the time depending who the player is. I was expecting to see Jxxx turned into a bluff here a decent amount of the time and some combo draws. Would be nice to get a little piece of the bad beat for the first time in my life. I am the only person amongst my poker friends who has never even gotten a table share. Gotta be hundreds of thousands without a cent in return. Have had between 70 and 100k chips in the GG flip out the last two days and didn't get any cash either, with bankroll so small it's kind of crucial to get that min cash 30 bucks from time to time. Hopefully tomorrow.

Took a little trip to the beach the other day, love the ocean!
Back at it tomorrow.

Once I hit 5k I am off to Vegas, whenever that is.

Okay a little update. I haven't been playing much until 2 days ago. Few MTT here and there but that's it.
Finally was able to put in back to back 10 hour days.

Bankroll is up to 960 now. I had a massive stack in an MTT with around 1k first place. with 23 left I then lost back to back tosses and KK vs AQ. Sucks but whatever.

That's my updated graph. Feels good to be running slightly above average although would love to get some of the lost equity from the last few months with an MTT bink or a run good. Although in fairness there is no way my actual winrate is that high at the reg tables. I would generally start shot taking higher limits at this point but I think I will keep it calm. I want to get to Vegas by the end of October and I can meet that timeline just playing these micros.

I have been listening to the rounders soundtrack while playing the last few days, bringing back all sorts of old memories and a really relaxing listen.
I really have the Vegas itch now, can't wait to get back down there and run it up!

I'm back...Over the last 10 months or so I have been working/sports betting. Extreme highs and lows. I had mulled over quitting poker for good.
Then yesterday I woke up and out of the blue it was like 15 years ago. I reminisced about the Sunday grind. The thrill of deep runs in MTT's and how fun it used to be to be part of the poker community. The wads of cash in my pocket, the energy of the Strip in Vegas. I realized my poker career isn't done just yet.

Bought in for 100 bucks. Cashed some tourneys and am starting today with 160 bucks. I am going to play some MTT today and see how it goes.
