Thank you - I'm extremely busy at the moment but all is going well and I'm running well over EV! I'll post a comprehensive update over the next couple of days.

Hi All,

As mentioned above, everything continues to move along at a steady pace.

Heads up
I played ok over the last month or so but volume has collapsed since the release of $60s Spin n Gos (at least at the times I play) and quite a few times I've had to wait far too long for a lobby.

Spin n Gos
Since this is where the volume is heading, I started to get more serious about spins. I have a little to learn about 3 handed play but nevertheless, the games seem profitable so far.

I'm deliberately sitting more regs than normal (but no HUSNG regs) while I try and work out what kind of edge there is.
It might be overly ambitious but if I can make it to the heads up in good shape 69% of the time and win the heads up 54% of the time, that gives me an ITM% of 37.3% - probably good enough to withstand the inevitable swings that spins will give me.

Social
Had my first solid drinking session for the year. I was at a charity lunch with 100+ people where Malcolm Turnbull was the keynote speaker and he was super impressive. With a bit of luck he can be the next prime minister....
Anyway, we kicked on until 6.30pm so a pretty wild night by my standards these days.

Also started doing yoga/Pilates once a week to help with my posture I'm over 6 foot and have had back issues in the past. I can't keep up with the class but I haven't torn any ligaments yet and I get a real buzz out if it.

GTORB
I've helped create a library of flops in GTORB based on an aggressive reg play on the button 25bb deep for HUSNGs (there are a few limps in the library too).

It's been quite interesting picking up insights from the library but I would say it's quite difficult to learn GTO spots through mimicking and would recommend looking at the videos and the flop calcs in conjunction with each other. With comprehensive knowledge of GTO theory (which I don't have yet) and understanding of population tendencies, it's is a lot easier to adjust and exploit.

For those interested, the GTORB flop library details are here:

Graphs
Heads up graph for the year (I’ve decided to just show itm ev % as it’s a better indicator of skill – assuming the quality of recreational opponents are similar at $60s and $100s )

Spin graph for the year (also itm ev%)

Hi! very nice thread! Thank you for blogging!

I just started CREV, do you recommend me dont learn how to use it and wait for gtorangebuilder?
GTORB looks easier to use, and more practical!

If it is too personal i would understand you dont want to answer, but how do you get in that situation? Was it because you needed too much effort to stay at your relative level of skill?
What do you learn from your past mistakes?

i am subscribing and i wish you a very good year 2015!

Happy to answer questions on the mental pressures I faced/face. Hopefully there are some people out there that reads this and can relate.

I hit the wall mainly from an accumulation of pressure from all aspects of my life family, work and social. Also, I didn't really pay attention to the warning signs or when I did, I thought I could push through or I was blaming the symptoms on other things eg I was getting a lot of headaches over weekends and blamed it on dehydration over the weekends when in reality it came from tension headaches through grinding.
The funny thing was in my final month, when I decided to take a break, I went on a huge heater (but I still felt terrible).

For CREV compared to other tools, it depends on how you want to learn the game.
CREV is still pretty good for understanding preflop exploitation spots but I would say it's getting close to obsolete post flop (maybe that’s harsh).

To me, the way to learn poker is to see what GTO looks like in certain spots and more importantly, to work out why that is GTO.

By the looks of your post, it seems like you play spins/husng. So for you, I would recommend
1) Looking at the husng free tree in the GTORB library http://blog.gtorangebuilder.com/2015...y-is-live.html
2) Really actively thinking what is different about this tree compared to how you play the game (particularly post flop).
3) Playing around with a GTORB free trial (I think that gives you access to the turn and river)
4) Taking advantage of the GTORB community where you can ask questions and get clear direct answers.

If you find you are learning, buy a licence and or a video. There are a few excellent videos already up and a couple of excellent videos on their way….

Since my last update, my game has improved quite a lot. I've become a lot more attuned to population tendencies and think I've been doing a good job exploiting my opponents' weaknesses. I don't receive any coaching but reading some of the skype conversations that occur between some of the smarter minds in poker certainly hasn't hurt my progress either...

I've played quite a lot of spins over the last period of time as I suspect that Pokerstars will introduce them to the $100s soon so I want to make sure I'm in good shape if that actually happens. Also, it helps build my hourly when husng traffic is slow.

Overall, my spins graph is showing evitm of 36.5%

My Husng graph is showing 3%.

Mentally, even though I'm playing more poker than what I initially envisaged, I feel in good shape. Being more understanding of fluctuations in my stress levels and not expecting to be bullet proof has definitely helped.

I'm also really enjoying the yoga and playing tennis once a week so doing ok on the physical health side of things too.

Hey, I'm regularly checking this thread and missing your updates. How things are going? Your daily routine reminds mine (full time job, family with 2 kids, stress, etc.). Except the fact i'm struggling with HU Hypers for about a year already despite of putting quite a lot of efforts into learning (but at the same time I must to admit that I play a lot more than study because of the lack of free time ...).
