Before that started I ran a session across NL5 - NL25 to try and scoop a milestone share. I really struggled to get on any tables but in the end I managed to make a little from the hands, collect a small share from playing NL5 and clear enough VPP's to buy another $25 reward.

I also took out a free trial of PokerSnowie. Not sure its up to much actually but its another way to review my sessions and try and find spots to do some of my own maths and range work on. I definately won't be paying $150 for it as the claim that its GTO is horseshirt of the highest order. Just something to play around with for a trial 10 days.

Anyway BR now sits at $785 going into my run at NL25.

I triple barrel spewed a TPGK hand off in a 3bet pot. He played it bad but my river shove was worse. Literally nothing I beat is calling that. Nothing better is really folding. He shouldn't be calling 3bets with Q8s and calling big bets on flop with GS or turn with OESD but I knew he could having just seen him do it with a flush draw the hand before so flop and turn I think are OK. River is a check. I doubt he would bluff raise anything I beat so it would have saved me 50bb to fold to his shove.

What a guppy I am.

Saver for roll rebuild.

Yeah should have done. Other Tx, A7, A6 etc are checking back. As are some overpairs 2 pairs and sets I reckon. Straights and some sets and 2 pairs only shoving. My shove was fully ******ed.

I'm on a nasty run never hitting a draw and villains smashing them in big pots. I suppose though I've not been set over set or flush over flushed in a while but still sucks. I'm not doing too much wrong (that garbage aside) and sure it will turn at some point. Probably when the guy has nothing!

This is brutal. Downswing continues. I'm down to last 5 BI before I drop back to NL10. NL16 blows so I'm skipping that. I think I'm playing OK. Bit too passive and folding a bit too much maybe but given that I never hit it and they always catch it I think most of them are OK. If I continued it would have to be as a bluff. I think I need to start fast playing draws as calling them with direct odds is pointless if they never come in. Has to turn soon.

Doomswitch still engaged. I did get one let up where I got KK all ind PF vs AA (for the third time this session) and it actually won. So now I'm a BI down and way above EV. Awesome. I'm still playing pretty well I think. Too passive and folding too much as always but thats standard.

I think my hand reading has come on some. I doubt myself a lot but when it does get to showdown they have cards in keeping with what I thought they had so I'm happy that I've not been surprised for a while. I'm also exploiting a couple of regs which I have 500+ hands.

Big losses outside of the KK<AA.

Happy with this one. No concerns

Yeah I lost all that. It feels like a downswing but on reflection the more I look at it I'm just not good enough. If I was up against me I would be the worlds easiest fish to exploit.

I fold too much. The amount of times I call with a very strong hand fearing the nuts and he turns over air should make me want to play faster with good hands but everytime I do they do have the nuts. I trust my hand reading and I'm proved right a lot so its hard to change the mind set but they can't have it every time. Unless I'm just very unlucky at the moment.

I don't think people bluff at the micros. But they must do against me. I don't lose any big pots really as I fold so much but my green line is a 45 degree down angle all the time with some occasional bounces up when I actually hit something and win a medium pot.

I'm going to do some hand charts tomorrow and start again to see if I'm making poor adjustments.

Just keep running and hope that run is as good as this.

It won't though. I am rubbish. Slowly rubbish though at least not tilt spazing off my roll. Problem for me now is that its no fun getting hammered by loads of much better players. If I can't improve though maybe just quit? Really thinking about that now. I've now played 10k hands at NL25 and lost 6BI. Should be 9 though if look at EV as I got one of the many KK vs AA to go my way and I sucked out AI vs maniac with KQ and he had AK on that occasion.

I'm never going to be good enough to beat NL25 or higher.

Can't get a hand to SD. This was the final straw. I'm such a ****ing loser. As soon as the flop landed I'm thinking I'm losing to QQ, KQ, 77. I block everything I beat that will call big so bet small. Min raise I'm thinking nuts or draw so no point raising. Turn sucks so call. River completes everything so I fold. This is my world. Too damn pussy to play poker. I need to take some time off so going to self exclude. Should probably do that for good.

Woke up today and did some analysis of all the big losing spots. They are all fine I think. I also got a Pokersnowie trial and that says I'm playing at a expert level and not making many blunders as it calls it.

The problem is all the marginal spots where I just lose and lose and lose. This is a real challenge now as I don't have too many giant leaks that result in obvious giant losses. SO how do I find the giant leaks that result in loads of small unobtrusive loses.

I'm completely ****ing useless. Back to NL10 I go. Any attempt to fix my leaks just resulted in abject failure. Stop being scared of flop donks or raises with AA. Both times they hit sets after calling OOP. 2 BI lost where I would have folded. Stop being so passive post flop, they have the nuts another 2 BI down. EV saved me another 1 as I'm so lucky but now I'm 10BI and should be 12. I just hate my play right now. I'm going on holiday soon so will take a load of time off and decide if I even want to continue. I'm solid enough to beat drunks and donks on NL10 but too **** to beat any other game. Is it fun enough to play NL10 and lose it all any time I try and do anything else?

Not clever enough to learn any concepts properly and always owned by aggro donks who bully and bully and bully me and passive fish who suck out on me so ultimately its me who is the super fish.

BR $638 and confidence even lower. I just don't understand what I can do differently. I need to learn to not be me any more and be someone less ****ing useless.

EDIT - What a whingy tilt rant. I'm leaving this in as a reminder of how bad my mental game was after a little 10BI downswing (of which 3 were tilt, at least some was rubbish play and probably 5 BI from actual variance). Hopefully one day I'll look back on this pathetic trash and laugh. I am already getting back in control. Still think the break is a good idea though so will take that and go back to NL10 to try and learn to not be so terrible.

I had a bit of a break and read Mental Game of Poker again. I don't know if that will have an effect but one thing has become clear. While I have serious mental game problems (see above) I don't think that is the main problem. In fact I think I have massive technical problems at NL25. I am getting run over so that even If I am playing my best game I still lose at a steady rate. I need to win a lot of big pots (and really I need someone else to make huge errors) in order to make up for the huge redline losses. I just can't get a hand to showdown as I always see monsters under the bed in all situations and can't call when put under pressure without the nuts. Classic one is the iso a limpy fish and then have to fold my A high when I hit nothing.

I think I will go down to NL10 to try and work on this but not sure how to start really. I'll get back to the mental game warm up and review routine.

Savers for reset!

What the problem with iso'ing fish? Usually when they limp you can just iso with almost ATC and take down the pot with 1/2 bet otf. And if they don't fold so what? It was +EV anyways.

Its only +EV if they sometimes fold the best hand post flop. That is not happening for me. If they don't fold you need to hit better than them to be able to value bet. Small sample ldo but its killing my bank roll. I may even be being exploited.

So I've not been around for a while as I took a 2 week holiday. I spent a bit of it reading and preparing to play NL10. This has not helped my game at all. Since coming back I have run my bankroll down to around $500. I am running horrendously and getting coolered a lot but I'm also playing terrible. Main problem has been paying off using ranges to justify why I could make a call which really I can't. I'm doing the reverse then when I'm value betting as I make it so there is nothing I can get to fold and no worse that will call so I have turned into a weak tight fish, paying people off and extracting no value from my good hands.

I'm going to take another break before I lose my whole roll and read The Chimp Paradox. I'll see you on the other side when hopefully I have a degree more mental ability. I'm not sure I am even enjoying the game at the minute. I'm suck so hard it makes me want to quit but I fail at everything and I'm never going to deal with my total inability to do anything of any consequence if I quit this as well. This feels like a good safe private way to try and deal with my mental issues. If I can beat this then who knows maybe I will be able to do something else with my life.

glgl I'll see you back shortly.

Right halfway through the challenge and time to take stock of my progress. I've not made a lot of it is the summary.

Initial good beginnings at NL10 were followed by a bit of a downswing. Genuine card death and run bad which I managed to stay focused through and not tilt off the roll so was able to grow again. At the peak I switched to NL25 and was pounded for $250 or so to get back to break even. Switching back to NL10 has not gone any better and I'm getting ruined. I had one session where tilt got the better of me and I spewed a couple of BI but even those were a bit unlucky in some ways (i.e. stacking off on flop with TPGK and OESD and being up against a better straight and a set so combined I had no live outs).

Due to some offers, bonuses, RB and a tourney run on FT with some spare points I got chasing another bonus means the roll is still ok at $470. Really though the plan was to be break even from cards not losing still and holding it up by non poker monies.

The really sharp downward line at the end is NL10. My Showdown winnings has gone negative. I'm not being much more aggressive and I'm not any looser so I'm not adjusting much yet. It can only be a cold run. I'm getting it in with KK+ and occasional AK/QQ pre and they just always have AA or hit their cards. If I was shoving ATo or something I'd have something to change but I'm not. I'm not calling down any lighter with my WTSD still about 25% and W$SD at 55% I'm pretty normal there. I'll stick with my BRM and move down to NL5 if I have to but 47BI is still fine that even with my overall winrate at -1.5bb/100 it should take me a while to be busto at NL10.

My mental game I thought was excellent yesterday. Despite a 3BI loss I felt good. Was just a very unlucky day. All my semi bluff cbets or 3bet bluffs were raised etc. Worst 1000 hands so far.

Big losses:

AA<AKs AIPF, villain sucked out. No big deal for 120bb.

AKs<QQ AIPF. Villain was 100/67 and ended up at 86/45 so pretty happy.

This one looks a bit spewy but the Johnny All In shove 3bet was a spazzy fish and AQs crushes his spaz range. BB was a nit so was expecting to be heads up vs initial raiser. Sucks to be me.

BR now $480. Playing poorly at the minute but with good mental game so I guess thats something. I've been stable now for 6k hands which is nice after a horrendous losing run. I've also removed all my winning NL16 hands from the as the above EV impact on my PT4 from winning despite playing breakeven EV poker was tilting me and I'm not playing that irritating limit again anyway.

Upshot is I'm now down $250 on the giraffe and I've got a big rebuilding job to do despite the healthyish roll.

I'm still pootling along. Can't get the roll much past $500 but I feel like my mental game is solid and my play is not terrible.

Soon it will all come good if I can just avoid the tilt.
