Good first session. Not much play to put up though. Fish sucked out on me calling all in on the turn and hitting 4 outer on the river. KK got paid by an idiot though and I made some lightish calls with bluff catchers vs aggro players.

I've been playing a bit of zoom recently as I've been away a lot and the idea of playing a proper tables on garbage connections I could not cope with. Just got home and tried a session. Had to turbo quit after 200 hands as I was getting owned. I think I was unlucky but also played horrible as well. Idiot donks cause me problems as I try to adjust my game to exploit them and get destroyed. I really really need to learn to just play good poker and let them exploit themselves.

This guy had so far pot bet every river and turn so I felt I had odds to call with the implied odds when I hit. On the river no way I'm folding. Awesome set up.

So I've been away for the weekend but before I went I had the biggest losing session I'd ever had. I was playing NL20 and NL30 as the games were juicy and it was a Friday.

I actually played pretty great I thought and my mental game was excellent despite the bad beats (AIPF KK<JJ and AA<KK) and bad luck (AIPF KK vs 44/39 with 29% 3bet LAG - with AA). I managed to pull a few cheeky hands out of the bag and I was exploiting a couple of fish pretty hard which is unusual.

BR down to $445 in the end but I was really happy with the session, which in itself makes me happy as it would be easy to second guess calling a 5bet jam with anything but AA and be all FML that fish kept hitting draws and making me fold or outflopping my premiums but I was making the right calls and basically never getting money in bad. EV adjusted line was excellent and that really helped my mental state (despite bombing $35 on KK vs AA).

Not updated for a while as I've been doing well and I only post to whine. BR now back to $575 ( I think in the last post that should have been $545 as I don't think I've swong that much).

My good lord in review I can see my tilt as clear as day. In game I thought I was good and I was patiently looking for a chance to flop a hand and stack this crazy aggro fish running our table over. He was AI with AJ and hitting, limp shoving AA and getting calls, hitting insane cards on flop and rivers and putting pressure on left right and centre.

So maybe not so much of a fish. Maybe exploiting the **** out of regfish like me trying to stack him. He was using his image to get paid off at lot (or maybe was just lucky that every time he got looked up he had it). I got run over and run over with good hands and eventually did this then quit in disgust. Finally made a hand and he made better. In my defence his range was super wide. He was floating 90%, check raising 20%, and never folding the flop, raising cbets 30% on the turn, and check raising or donking every river. I figured on the turn it could be all sets, 2 pairs, any PP with a , any pair with a , KT, AT maybe even stuff like 5h4x. Plus I had folded every time he had raised me so far as I was so card dead so figured he might be just putting pressure on a weak/tight player like me. FML, Jokerstars, raketrap etc. Its just horrendous tilt that I was failing to hit any cards and getting crushed. When I left he was just turning a flush over flush to stack another reg who by then was down 5BI vs this guy. He ended on $180 on a NL20 reg table. Impressive sun running.

I had been running super hot on the table for the orbit since I joined. Raising every hand and winning (with actual value).

I thought this guy was playing back when he snap shoved. Note taken. The note reads I am terribad at poker playing anything but super nit. I just have no idea how to cope with pressure. NL20 and NL30 has a lot of that so hoping I am at least learning from all this horrible play but I doubt it on current evidence. All I am learning is how to build bull**** ranges in my head to justify a bad play.

I feel like I am on the verge of getting good all the time. Flopzilla is helpful with working out what sort of actions a villains range would take. I.e. if I know he will call with any pair, FD or OESD I can work out how many of those there are in his combos and there for roughly what he will fold. Vice versa if I know how much they fold/raise I can estimate based on frequency what that might be. Sample size means not always helpful but its fun to practice.

Problem is though I'm just one tilt marathon away from losing my roll again probably as I'm still just slowly bleeding $$$. My profit is still only luck, bonuses, freeroll or promotion binks etc. I'm lucky that it sits at $575 so I'm ahead for the challenge but if I could just edge that last step, value bet that last street, fold that last overpair or whatever I'd turn that tiny BB/100 loss into a win. Then with all that other stuff I would be crushing (by my fish standards obvs).

Not sure what the answer is. Discipline really I'm sure I would do better if I could stick to my plans on number of tables/length of session but in the short run it does nothing and I end up drifting away from it.

Anyhow hopefully this little evening session with the wife out and kids quiet in bed will be a good first step.

Initial horse**** has sorted itself out now and I managed to bleed the fish for a bit without them catching flopped monsters.

Back to about even for the evening and looking foward with a couple of beers to a fun session. I'm staying positive and aggressive and believing that my run has turned.

Yeah its an oncoming train. This 85/1 guy is destroying me.

Rivered 2 pair for 80bb, rivered straight for 70bb. There is no way to exploit someone calling pre with everything and hitting cards with everything. Its just luck when its reduced to showdown and he always makes it. Just have to keep playing his stupid range and hope soon I will hit anything other than the top of it on the river.

When hes playing 85% of hands though basically any card is a scare card as he could have any combo so unless you have the stone stone super nuts you might still lose! Just have to ignore the 9 on the river that would have made 2 pair for 94o and play the range.

Didn't end well either so back to NL10 for me. Mix of NL20 and NL10 maybe but need to avoid spewing my roll too fast now.

Ended yesterday down to $560 which given where I was was not a terribad end. I still think I'll stick at lower limits a bit and revisit some strategy about valuebetting donkeys as almost all my losses come when idiots hit their cards against me and I fail to give them credit or I try and bluff stations. Unacceptable. It means that my table selection is working against me as the only people I'm beating are the regfish because against them I don't try to adjust and do it badly.

These fish should be making me money and its not them hitting the cards thats the issue its me not exploiting them effectively.

First hand again. When I filter for first 30mins I'm a huge loser. Just fold first 100 hands maybe. Same if I filter for last half hour although that is self selecting I reckon as the big loss at the end is normally when I quit.

A good adjustment might be though to play even lower for the first few minutes to get my head in the game.
