Update 54 (Day 6 of 25 to reach Gold Star)

So yeah I didn't play in 3 days. Basically, I went out on Thursday to watch Bolt win the 200m, I got obliterated by alcohol on pub golf on Friday and I went to a mates 21st on Saturday. I also went to my cousin's house this morning which is an hour away, so I finally was able to play a small session tonight.

I got in 99 games and I'm sure I've said this many times before, but this felt like my unluckiest session ever. I only cashed in 6 games and just for a little bit of proof, my EV BB/100 was 9.47 and my actual was 1.81.

However, this is not gonna just be a moan about how unlucky I got and it's annoying and it's variance blah blah blah. It's all been said before. The reason I act like this is probably because somehow I made profit from this session. My 6 cashes were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th and 13th. The game I came 9th, I lost a 70k pot A3 vs T5 (blinds were huge in a blind battle where he shoved) and in the 2nd, I lost 88 to 34 heads up So yeah those hands summed up my night, but I guess I'm pretty relieved to have made profit

Need to get in a lot of volume soon though.

Yeah obviously when I first used SnG Wizard, I used it in a completely wrong way, but fortunately I didn't pay attention to those few hands that I posted in the first page of this thread, into my future play. And if I'm honest, I haven't paid too much detail to analysing hands in a mathematical way from that point on

I now completely understand the obvious points your making about spots being +EV, but not the best etc etc.

Going through those hands again, now that I am 3000 games into my challenge, I agree with everything you said apart from for Hand Number 1. Just looking at that hand again instinctively, I would snap call (as I originally did).

Final 6 people and he is the shortest stack on the button with an M of just over 2. Adding in the extraordinarily top heavy prize pool, he should be shoving any 2 cards there. So simply considering my hand, my pot odds and my stack, it's a pretty easy call.

What do you think?

Looking closer I guess it's ok if you know he's definitely that wide. If he's a random though it's too borderline.

I got in 111 games and only cashed 8 times with 3 final tables which ended 6th, 7th and 9th. My last final table which I thought I could win to claw back some of my losses was lost with my TT against A9 and A7. First card on the flop is obviously an ace...

This is pretty tough to take seeing as I was getting fairly close to completing my original challenge. It's gonna be a lot more effort now. Anyway, variance sucks and now I'm only up about $7 for the month of August (extra graph included below) which also sucks.

I'm getting up bright an early tomorrow and want to get in a minimum of 150 games, aiming more for around 200.

dont listen to them. BT infinity is the bomb and i live in a small town. I had the old BT and it sucked balls but infinity never cuts out plus its as quick as Usain Bolt (sorry virgin). get it.

Update 56 (Day 8 of 25 to reach Gold Star)

There are so many things I could say about today's sessions. Firstly, I tried to play at 11am but it registered way too slowly that it wasn't worth my time, so I stopped after 20 odd games. Then I played from 6pm to midnight.

In a way I am delighted because I feel that I played very well in general, but once again I got persistently unlucky. This did cause me to make some rash decisions in a few of the games, but that is something that rarely ever happens to me.

I was purposely completely calm today and didn't get annoyed when I got outdrawn etc etc. But it was almost as if, because I had made a conscious effort to do this, I was being tested. Once I got into the money, I got the most unlucky ever. I couldn't win a single hand on final tables it seemed and it was absolutely infuriating.

I finished the session with 4 3rds!!! and no 2nds or 1sts. I also made 8 other final tables finishing in the low places. With the top heavy prize pool, this is incredibly frustrating. I got into enough situations where it seemed like I would be able to win tournaments, at one point having 3 final tables and 3 penultimate tables all playing at the same time!

However, despite at points thinking I could have a +$400 session or something insane, I ended with a pitiful $15 profit, due to not being able to reach heads up once.

You can see in my overall graph that I have now endured a $430 downswing, my largest yet. Hopefully I can get back on track and get over this appalling run of luck in the next few days.

I also didn't reach what I quoted as the minimum number of games I would play today, only managing 141. However, this keeps me well on track for gold, so let's just keep on trucking tomorrow...

I feel ur pain mate im on a 2k downswing myself (ave buyin of around 9/10 tho) running so gross in every spot.
Hardest thing is dealing with it mentally.
Just gotta keep grinding and results will come.

Update 57 (Day 9 of 25 to reach Gold Star)

I FINALLY WON MY FIRST GAME FOR AGES AND WHAT A WAY TO WIN IT!

DON'T ASK ME WHY, BUT I WILL SEND $4.92 VIA POKERSTARS TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO CAN GUESS WHAT HAND MY OPPONENT HAD IN THIS PICTURE Let's say you get two guesses each



So yeah prior to this win, I was getting fairly annoyed just as before because I had already finished with 2 3rds losing both from a chip lead position 3-way, losing hands like QJ to Q9 and some races. But finally it took quads for me to win my first game in a while, which was extraordinarily relieving

At that point, I was up about $80, but then I proceeded to lose about 50 games in a row and was down $40 for the session with one game remaining where I was about 10th out of a remaining 25. Long story short, I won it! This leaves me with a fairly nice profitable session. However those 3rds and 1sts were my only final tables in the 115-game session along with 6 min cashes. The volume was a little low today due to starting a bit late. Hopefully I'll play more tomorrow. Anyway, I'm getting up in 5 hours to go swimming so gotta go. First time in a while I've been in a good mood after a session

Just some help with my $4.92 worth of question:

Blinds are 3k/6k + antes

PREFLOP: I min raise, he calls

FLOP: He checks, I check

TURN: He checks, I bet 10k, He calls

RIVER: He goes all-in, I call

So whoever guesses what hand my opponent had will win the whopping amount of $4.92!!!!!! Two guesses each, and it hasn't got to be card specific. I.e. AK will do, but that'd be a dumb guess cos all 4 Kings are on show! Get guessing!

Right well Cpazza and Gazzy are two of my friends in real life and they saw the hand, but are bellends and have the memories of goldfish.

However they've given you loads of clues about what I had... even though I said that you haven't got to be specific, i.e. you don't have to state the suit, or offsuit or suited, Gazzy said QJo, and Cpazza said defiantly that he had Queen High.

The actual hand he had was QJs.

So the good news is that no one who had a legitimate guess at a hand got it.

So I will change the hand that has to be guessed and I'm fairly certain that neither of the two bellends saw this hand. It is the final hand of the other game that I won yesterday.
