1k Games Update: Stat Overload!
Well I've finished my first 1000 games and a profit of $440 is beyond my expectations. Coming into this, I wasn't even entirely sure that I was a profitable player and I know I had many faults with my game. I still do but I have definitely improved and hope that I can eclipse $440 in my next 1000 games in order to reach my $1500 profit goal. I finish uni on the 9th and plan to play 1000 games in the following week, hopefully making a bit of money before xmas
So here's my overall graph so far, first done by games and then by day:
Despite my peak profit being higher than where I am current, we can see from the daily graph that I actually have just about peaked in terms of the profit I have been on at the end of each day. So in that sense, I am currently at my peak, which feels good, especially after that monstrous downswing.
Here's my profit per day and per month:
I obviously started on a massive heater, shown by the few games in October making a massive profit. Then I had a big downswing, before a small-sloping upward curve. My biggest day is only just over $100. It would be nice to have a huuuuuuuge day where I win like $300.... I've come close a few times when I've made loads of final tables big stacked but then ran bad.
Here's my stats pre-ante and post-ante:
I am delighted with my BB/100 and EVBB/100 pre-ante. The first 3 blind levels are extraordinarily simple to manoeuvre, just playing premium hands postflop, so limping is a far bigger part of the game here.
However, post ante, when it comes to shove-folding, I am clearly not doing something right, with my EVBB/100 of 0.77. This is probably just ICM mistakes that I make. I could probably try and min-raise steal more frequently in the latter stages where I actually have over 10-15 BBs. Basically, I think I am still playing a bit too tight in the latter stages.
Here are my stats for each individual blind level:
The stat to note here is the PFR/VPIP ratio at each blind level. Generally, a good ratio is 80%, which I have on every blind level from t100 onwards. However, I feel that limping is an important part of the game in the first 3 blind levels, in order to maximise profit, minimising variance. A lot of players are generally awful postflop players, so you'd rather get it in postflop when you are a bigger favourite. Rather than iso-raising a couple of limpers with hands like KJ, you are far better off limping. Firstly, the calling station are generally only calling the raises with hands that beat us and they fold out the hands we dominate. This is bad for us. We would rather outplay them postflop. Furthermore, we can limp suited connectors and even hands like K6s on the button after limpers and only continuing if we flop big. 'Chilin_dude' talks about this in his thread and most 180 regs agree that in the $2.50 games, limping is better than iso-raising. However, I have noticed that a lot of strat videos for 180 mans warn you against limping. I simply disagree with this while there are plenty of fish around. Perhaps things are different in the higher buy-in games.
Here are my stats based on position and number of players in the hand:
Nothing much to say about my stats based on position except that they seem pretty standard stats. PFR is highest from the button. The only thing is that perhaps I am flatting from BB too often.
The stats based on number of players show my deterioration as the game gets short-handed. However the sample size for 6-handed or less is so small that it is almost irrelevant. I am fairly sure that I have just got unlucky in the few short-handed hands that I have played, which is very frustrating with the steep prize pool. NEED TO WIN SOME GAMES!!
Two more graphs: I find it quite nice that I have won the most BBs/100 with AA then KK, QQ, JJ, TT, then AK. As expected. I like it that my sample size is so big that expected results like this occur
Then I just wanted to show off my 2 straight flushes and the royal from update 1 again
So all is going good at the moment. I want to get in a lot more volume soon since term finishes on the 9th, so will be updating a lot more. Here's to an even better next 1000 games!
