Helllo poker people

I'm making this thread to hold myself accountable and to maybe make some poker friends along the way.

The last year I've been playing poker starting at 2nl zoom on stars, moved to 5nl and some 10nl.

My goal for this year is to make it to at least 25nl and hopefully 50nl.

last years graph:

I plan to move up in stakes when I have 100 buy ins and move down when losing 10 buy ins
Also I play a warm up session of 600 hands on one stake lower than what I actually play

Poker Goals for 2023:
1. Play 1million hands and move up to 50NL
2. Watch From the ground up
3. Read Poker mindset 1&2
4. Update this thread
5. Post hands on 2+2
6. Journal my sessions based on how well I ran and played
7. Create a tilt profile

I also believe that a healthy mind will be important so I will add some Other goals:
1. Cold Shower for at least 2mins daily
2. Meditate 30mins daily
3. Gym 3x a week

What to improve:
1. Study to feel confident playing higher stakes
2. Play more when in a flow and less when tilted
3. Discuss hands with other people
4. Reflect more often on how I play

Would love some feedback on my plan

Hey, solid goals, I will be following

Quote:
6. Journal my sessions based on how well I ran and played
7. Create a tilt profile
Sounds good especially the tilt profile. What I recommend is make one specific "tag" in HM3 for all hands played with potentially mental game flaws - This could be ordinary monkey tilt but also psychological barrier for not finding marginal bluff/call because fear of variance. And go over those hands (and maybe separate them into profiles) and revisit your thought process. I just came up with this idea actually and I will start with it too from now on.

Journal sessions is great, I think it requires discipline since sometimes you really don't feel like doing it xd. But I would advice you to also add one criteria like based on how you dealt with emotions ingame. I don't see the benefit of rating the way you ran but I'm not an expert so take my advise with a grain of salt.

It's good to work on mental game from the ground up. I started at NL2 aswell and I kept ignoring mental game (and respecting variance) but kept rising in stakes with the tilt-sessions becoming more and more expensive. If I would go back to where I started I prioritize "mental game" way higher like the way you seem to do.

Last advice: have a good study/play ratio. Not studying and playing too much at this stage is just self sabotaging imo and I'm telling you studying will pay off. Avoid looking at river x/r lines right away but rather focus on a solid fundamental strategy. Simplification is key. In your rise in stakes you can de-simplify and go more in depth/study more tricky nodes.

thanks so much, never thought of tagging hands that way, also taking note of emotions ingame will give much more clarity

Didn't play enough hands due to feeling sickish, one day lost 4 buyins at 10nl which gave me clarity on my tilt problems haha

Tilt profile:
When I play My warmup session and I run bad I should do smth to reset my mood, cold shower or meditate.
-When I lose 2 all ins in a short time I should take a break
-When I lose a all in where I have 80% or more I should pause for a bit
-When I lose to "bad players" I try to get them back by trying to get lucky
-When I win a certain amount I feel like quitting to secure the win
-Learn to spot good variance and not only the bad variance

weekly goals:
V Study 10 hours
v Read 30 pages of mindset
v make tilt profile
v update 2+2
x play 21k hands

Next week goals:
- Study preflop ranges (especially 3b)
- Read 30 pages
- Play 21k hands
- Update 2+2
- Update tilt profile
- Work on tilt leaks
- Improve my redline

First month done V
Played mostly 5nl

Things to improve, Whenever i play 10nl I feel like I have to make fancy moves.
Also when I'm up on a session I feel the need to just book a win.

Goals for next month
+ more 10nl (at least 25k hands)
+ finish reading mental game of poker

Nice graph, it seems to be going well!

I can relate, for me now the threshold of "booking the win" is a bit higher in terms of bi"s. But I still have it. It's an annoying feeling because I can imagine you just gonna say it to yourself after every pot you lose when you have the feeling of wanting to book the win.

It's like a human thing to have this when moving up stakes. Especially calling down too much (my main problem when moving up) because you respect villains too much (just an example) and think they are capable of things that they might not be capable of. Always important to note that usually the regs are similar, just a bit better b or c game than previous stake. And it's important to give yourself time to adjust to the meta, rather than making assumptions that might not be true. Just stick to what you are doing in 5NL (what seems to be going well) and it will be fine. And if there are any big differences, you will notice it anyway when you have some sample and than you can adjust here and there.

I have decided to consistently do the right things, without missing a day, and I think this is already paying off. Also I play a lot on reg tables and those seem to go better than zoom.
Also I need bigger goals, because if I want to reach those I would need to do more things better to do so.
Also I stopped posting here my weekly results cuss I noticed it makes me focus too much on the result and not on the process/progress

I need to ask better questions:

for example:
*Desired Commitment: Make 3k a month from poker
Goal conflicting actions or inactions:
-Not studying marked hands enough
-Not knowing my ranges to perfection
-Not Knowing my ''range buckets''
- Playing my hand instead of my range
- Not playing enough
- Quitting too early
*Hidden commitments of my former self
- Not table selecting well because I want to beat the regs
- Playing it safe
- worrying about the daily results
- Checking my daily graph during sessions
*Limiting beliefs or assumptions
- To beat 25nl+ I would need to be enlightened and have no emotions
- To win means I'm good enough and It makes me worth more as a person
- To win means I can impress people

All these things are playing on the background and without putting attention to them they will keep playing out, Im using poker now to become more aware in life and that gives it more meaning then just focussing on winning

Will probably not play anymore this moth so will already post the graph

+ created a study group with nl5/10 people
+ played most hands on 10nl and took some shots at 25nl
+ feel a lot more comfortable at those stakes
+ Meditated daily
+ Played longer sessions

- Still have to read the poker mindset book
- Play more volume

Lost my 40% weekly rackeback and only played a bit on GG
Last 3 weeks have been playing 10nl and yesterday decided to take a 5 buy in 25nl shot, which went wrong.

Now I will do a mini challenge to get some positive momentum going
This week:
- play 30hrs
- read at least 70 pages

From a mental point of view Poker has been really helpful, I see that I have these unconscious programs running on the background. Always thought I self sabotage but now I realise I always just get what I want, but not always realise that a part of me wants it. I will make this more of my focus cuss otherwise it will keep showing up in any area for the rest of my life

Started almost one year ago, my goal was to go from 2nl to 25nl in a year because I thought on 25nl I could make enough money to cover my costs.
The goal after that would be to move up further.
I also wanted to do it slowly and not skip any steps. (this has been a mistake)

I'm happy with the progress. I'm a regular on 10nl lately and can see myself moving up to 25nl this year.

At the same time I'm unhappy cuss I have put in wayyy too many hours on these donkey stakes and it has mentally exhausted me at times.

I have also not improved my game enough to feel confident playing higher stakes

You made 2300. You could be playing nl 100. You say it was a mistake to take things slowly, but still you only plan to one day go up to nl 25.
