2NL-50NL but i suck at poker 2NL-50NL but i suck at poker

I suck at poker but im desperate to get better.

I absolutely love the game, its pretty much my only hobby. I love watching, playing and thinking about poker but I'm not that good which sucks.

I want to get better and move up in stakes using good BRM.

Im not gonna stick around in 2NL/5NL for too long as i feel these will probably be roughly the same.

Ive set aside $1000 but ill be starting with $20 and will deposit to move up from the micros a bit faster.

If anyone wants to talk poker or has any free training (YouTube etc) that they recommend please share.

Another session of 2NL, maybe i should just play 5NL?

Hey HMP looking good man. I recently(Oct 2022) started back playing cash at 2nl on Pokerstars full-ring tables and I kinda feel the same way now about maybe I should have just started at 5nl or just move up as I'm doing pretty well as I've gone from $50 to now $91 since Oct. But like you I have a smallish sample size of only 15,645 hands over that period. Personally I've decided to just stay and play it out at 2nl but then one of my biggest tilts/issues is not sticking with the plan, having discipline and sticking with the plan. And well couple more winning sessions I'll taking shots at 5nl anyways which I've been watching a bit the last couple times I've been playing 2nl and doesn't look like it plays much different then 2nl. At least on Pokerstars.

My bankroll plan has me moving up and taking shots at 5nl when I get too $100 anyways. For a bankroll I'm using/comfortable with having 25 buy-ins/stake so 5nl would be $125, 10nl would be $250 and 16nl would be $400. But as I get higher in stakes and playing tougher players I also plan to up my bankroll from 25 buy-ins/stake level to around 30-50 buy-in's.

Good luck with your journey whatever you decide. If you do move up and having a couple losing sessions move back too 2nl don't chase your losses staying at 5nl.

Cheers!!!

Hey mate, sounds like you have a good plan, you just need to stick to it and you'll be all good. Its difficult not to just move up and punt off the roll because whats the point of $2 or $5? But ultimately its about the process and not any amount of money. i truly love poker for what it is so i don't mind playing tiny stakes. Good luck and keep on grinding!

Ok i must admit i fire a couple of $1 tournaments when i play Rush and Cash, i know is should just focus on 1 or the other but i just love both

just finished 1st in a bounty builder

bankroll is at $130, so I'm going to move to 5NL

Nice win. Yeah we all fail off the rail/wagon. Back in Feb I played a couple MTT's "The Rounder" on Pokerstars for $1.10 and made a sports bet for $2 I lost. Long as one doesn't like you say punt all his money off or plays off most in cash bankroll playing MTT's/sports betting it's all good. An MTT, SnG or something you don't normally play once in awhile ain't a bit deal even if you lose. A guys gotta have some fun lol.

EDIT: Agree it's all part if the process. Specially for newer players or guys like me who played only MTT's for years and years. While I can still win now at 2nl my cash game still needs a lot of work. Which is part of the process of going thru 2nl, 5nl, 16nl and 25nl so on so.....

Cheers!!!

Got these to study with... anyone read any of these, what did you think?

Unfortunately or fortunately, poker is a more difficult game to understand after reading a couple of books, but at the initial stage, these books will definitely +EV to familiarize yourself with the fundamental concepts and approach to learning.
