Starting with $750 this coming weekend. Have infinite free time due to an injury so looking to do 2k hands per day min.
Will start at 25nl and move up when have 30 buy ins for next level.
Played as rec for over 10 years. Spent last few months pretty much constantly studying full time in prep for this as hope to move up fast (as we all do i guess).
This thread is primarily to keep myself in check with tilt and to receive feedback/share thoughts.
Along with 2k hands per day i plan to spend 2 hrs a day reviewing the days play. Will post any interesting/tricky hands and will appreciate feedback as i go along. Stop loss of 3bi any session as previously known to tilt/chase losses.
Have quit drinking and started meditation to assist my plan.
Will be 6 max reg tables only on Party.

Hey man, good luck on this.
A little bit of advice.
Playing more hands than before, tilt will definitely come into play if it has in the past.
It's easy to set a stop loss of 3bi goal in any session, but what are your challenges here?
It would be good to have a clear vision on the thoughts that pop up in these tilty moments so you can recognize them and write them down.
This in itself can be of help already! Recognizing thoughts can allow you to take a step back, even if you're still playing a winning session.
Irrational and emotional thoughts are the first signs, so look out for them!

Day 1 went average - poor. Day 2 to begin
Though that being said, it went poor if result oriented. I ran well below ev. Didnt play perfect mind, prob a b-.
Think may start today at 10nl rather than 25 as i feel i was playing with scared money slightly which will never help so shall play over rolled at 10nl until at around 1k i think.
Didnt get a great run of cards so bit of a grind through the day. Nothing much to report really.
Will play now for the day and post any interesting hands for advice later.
I found playing blues music (which i love) in background helped and no tilt issues arose which is a bonus (many thanks to 'mind my ride' for his advice on here regarding that). Still....no matter how much i tell myself i played ok as the stats show i did ok, no matter how many times i made a profitable move, i still wake the next morning and look at the monetary results thinking "well that sucks" lol

New day....will update in around 12 hours! May i say thank you to all who contribute to the forum with their own journeys/hands/advice. I find it most useful for my own game. Good luck out there all.

Good luck dude, playing 2k hands per day while studying for 2 hours is a really bold compromise and I believe that you will certainly improve a lot doing that. Just be aware of all the setbacks that might occur regarding variance, and you will be fine. It's also wise to take some time off every day to do something not related to poker in order to avoid a burnout, like watching some series, playing some game you enjoy and similar things like that. The rest is also an important part of the training.

Anyway, all the luck for you.

Yesterday was certainly fun. 2400 hands of 10nl. Profit 7.5 buy ins which is obv always nice.
Maybe because it was weekend but the standard on 10nl is just comical. Ill see today if more difficult. Didn't need to apply tremendous amount of thought really. Even some of the regs multi-tabling were entirely predictable and therefore simple to exploit.

I suspect will be more of a grind today as surely less drunken people play on a monday (i can only assume that was the case yesterday). Hopefully ill have some hands where analysis will be required so i can share. Yesterday i had quads twice with lunatics betting into me so hardly worth asking what i should do there.
Tiring work mind so ill consider taking a day off a week, I agree with above advice that i need to avoid burnout. Im quite the obsessive sort of character so its easy for it to absorb me. I found it difficult to switch off afterwards so thats something ill need to work on.

Further update tonight.
Cheers

First week almost over slightly up overall. Exhausting work this poker lark. Underestimated how tiring can be, happy with play though. What does amaze me is just how easy 10nl should be. There's a huge amount of total maniacs and the regs are v predictable. Running below ev so comfortable enough for first week despite only small profits.
Things i need to improve on: Having the confidence to call huge river bets which all logic tells me are bluffs in certain situations due to the line taken/player tendencies and i tend to lose a little at end of each day by playing when too tired so need to stop earlier.
On PP it works out that ill be getting approx $40 a week RB so i guess my first week result makes me a RB player though obv only 10k or so hands in.

Id be interested in advice/thoughts on following.

Hero jh,kc opens in co to 2.9bb
Villain (maniac 80% vpip over 50 hands) calls in bb

Flop - 8c,9d,10c

V bets (pot sized bet!)
Hero Call

Turn - jd

V bets 1/2 pot
Hero?
