February 2021 Recap
As the month is approaching a close, the thought of me playing full time for the time being online start to hit my mind...few lessons learned along the way:
1. Having really comfortable bankroll management is super important. Being properly rolled makes it so much more comfortable/manageable when you get hit with those beats/breakeven stretches/downswings, and just feel that you're still going to be okay as long as you are generating EV.
2. Playing 1knl HU/2knl HU was a huge mistake & idk what I was thinking. Playing 1knl in general is a mistake for me atm, when I can just reduce variance by grinding out a ton of 200nl tables, and some 500nl if I think I have an edge in a lineup & the game is good. I will not be playing 1knl for the foreseeable future, let alone playing any HU above 200nl. I'm not a HU specialist, and I played way outside my roll. Nearing complete recovery since that -11K day though.
School is likely going to be put on hold (computer science), while I put in as much volume as I can. With part of these winnings I built a computer with the following specs:
-AMD Ryzen 9 3950x (woulda got the 5950x, but out of stock)
-128gb DDR4 3000mhz RAM
-Asus ROG Strix RX6900XT (some blessed soul sold me this for MSRP, eternally grateful)
-850W Seasonic Gold modular PSU
-Corsair Air 540
My main purpose of this machine is to have a computer that can run PIOsolver edge with no limitations. I also haven't upgraded my machine in about 5-6 years now. Secondary use is to play video games and sometimes stream a little bit of poker for fun/said video games, and game on a 144hz display. Also bought a 32" 144hz 4K monitor to use as my new primary display for pokerstars, screen real estate has become increasingly important to me for multitabling. I am blessed to have played ignition 25-200nlz for the past few years to have a huge advantage compared to rest of field. I am mainly still an instinct player however, having watched many hours of 200nlz/500nlz streamers as my "studying", figuring out and asking questions on why x or y works, why z doesn't, and trying out the things that they do & applying them to my game.
I plan on booking multiple sessions with a 500z player on ignition by end of this month & over the next month or two, to solidify my game and not be left behind the curve when the games get inevitably tougher, also to potentially play 1knl+ in the future. Given that I can basically run any sim I possibly could want now, I'll actually start putting in some time/work behind PIO next month...not entirely sure if I can hit 100K hands by the end of February, but I'm happy with the volume I put in overall this month.
Anyway here are results since the 1st of Jan:
Cash games:
If we were to omit the day I chose to play 2knl HU & some PLO volume...
Tournaments:
Have a prop bet going on (my $600:his $200) that I will not play any future MICOOP events until end, so won't be playing any tournaments -- probably giving up a ton of EV there but I'm alright with picking up a variance-free $200.
Two similar HH's to wrap things up
