My name is Rich, I am 52 and play on Global Poker as StackinRocks. Played there for 2 years with over 4000 tournaments. Yesterday, I had $0.23 (yes, twenty three cents) in my Global Poker account. Was about to deposit and just got mad. Not at anyone but myself.

Made a commitment that I am done depositing on online poker sites. So, $0.23 on Global and $23 on Iggy. The challenge begins with a total roll of $23.23.

The goal? Well, my intention is to head to Vegas in June and play The Big 50, Milly Maker and Monster Stacks. The goal would be to fund that trip with online poker over the next 4.5 months. Now, I can partially fund the trip with income from my day job if that is money that is above and beyond my monthly nut. If not, if I fail and will have to fly to Vegas and play a $70 daily donkament at the Flamingo and come home feeling defeated and embarrassed.

So, here is where we stand. Yesterday on Global, I played the 11 cent 500 Bonana and the $300 Freeroll. Cashed for $0.93 on the Freeroll, then played 16 of the $0.25 Trever Sit-n-Go's. Hit the Sit-n-Go streets on Iggy as well

Global Bankroll: $4.22.
Ignition Bankroll $44.68
Total Roll: $48.90

I believe statistically you won't be able to complete this goal of yours. However I like seeing a underdog come out on top. Not a lot of poker players like seeing players getting lucky and beating them. Good Luck.

In my original post, I said I had 4.5 months for this challenge. Math is hard, it is actually 3.5 months. Works out to 15 weeks of total time. I do have a vacation with the kids and grandkids scheduled the beginning of April. I will get to play some but I might as well consider it 14 weeks. That is a lot of work in a short time.

Going to use the following to manage my bankroll. Building each level with 20 buy-ins and adding all levels plus one buy-in at the next level, to move up in stakes. at the End gives us a $5000 bankroll that can effectively be used for 200 buy-ins. You have to be disciplined and move down when you go below the move up amount in each level. Maybe, I didn't I explain it well but, I understand what I am suppose to be doing so that is what is important.

Buy-In
0.25 x 20 = 5.00 5.60 to move up
0.55 x 20 = 11.00 17.50 to move up
1.10 x20 = 22.00 42.00 to move up
3.30 x 20 = 66.00 110.00 to move up
5.50 x 20 = 110.00 225.00 to move up
11.00 x 20 = 220.00 410.00 to move up
22.00 x 20 = 440.00 910.00 to move up
33.00 x 20 = 660.00 1600.00 to move up
55.00 x 20 = 1100 2750.00 to move up
110.00 x 20 = 2200 $5000 to move up

If playing a rebuy, have to move down one level for those. Example, if I am rolled to play 5.50 tournaments, i could not play 5.50 rebuys, I would have to play 3.30 rebuys.

My roll on Iggy is now over $50. I am thinking about moving that over to Global and running this whole challenge on one site. Easier to track and follow along. Not sure yet.

Will update tomorrow. Now, go do something awesome!

Moved Iggy Roll to Global, so the challenge will be 100% on Global.

Had a great night! Took first in a Buckament tourney and also binked a $3.30 1r1a. I shouldn't have played a $3.30 rebuy where my roll was at. Registered a bunch of tourneys all at once and it happened to work out.

Here are my tournament lobby's

Global Bankroll $136.53

So tomorrow we can play all $5.50's and rebuys at $3.30 and below. Very happy with consolidating everything to Global. It probably cut a couple weeks off the process.

Ouch, what a brutal morning. Partial bad play and a lot of just runner runner straight or flush, ruthless river beats and total mayhem. But hey, I voluntarily play this messed up game.

It is what is called variance. The pendulum swings both ways in poker. The cool thing is, even with the bankroll taking a hit, still have 78 buy-ins going into the evening session.

Global Bankroll $101.18

That means, I have to drop down to the $3.30 level and not play any $3.30 rebuys until the roll, per guidelines is over $110.00. May a grind few SNG's to build it back up and open up some additional tournament opportunities for this evening.

Ok, gotta go get some work done. Much love to ya

Yes, this morning was brutal but tonight rocked!

Been a very long day. Finished up the late Grizzly at 3am, Played 36 tournaments in total, cashed in 8, 3 final tables. Made lots of mistakes today but did a lot right too.

$1000 Guaranteed $3.30 rebuy - 7th
$1250 Guaranteed $3.30 turgo rebuy - 2nd
$3500 Grizzly $3.30 rebuy 6-max (Late)- 3rd

Global Bankroll $640.70

Link to my tournament lobby's

I am very pumped and just feel blessed tonight. We are way ahead of schedule at this point which is awesome. I think the accountability of posting my results helps me a lot. I was looking a while ago at joining a stable for just that reason, I think things are working out the way they are suppose to.

According to the bankroll schedule, I can play $22 tournaments and $11 rebuys. Going to try and get some sleep and stay off the computer until the evening tournaments.

Goodnight

Well, did you ever meet someone and you were very excited about the relationship, then quickly, they end up taking off, crushing your expectations and dreams for that person? Yeah, that is what happened to part of my bankroll last night. I played 14 tournaments and one little itty bitty cash. Played bad and ran worse or ran bad and played worse, trying to figure that out.

I have to drop down today and play $11 freeze outs and $5.50 rebuys. Even though yesterday, I got crushed, abused, outplayed and just plain beat, today is a brand now shiney day. With my bankroll plan, I still have 120 buy-ins and am excited. During the challenge on Global, through last night, played 94 tournaments, 24.8% ITM and on ROI of 131%.

I try to learn something everyday. I learned a lot yesterday, more about me than poker. I didn't play any tournaments until the 6pm $1500 guaranteed, I kept 4 or 5 tables open and did my best multi-tabling. The plan was to keep em rolling and have the last tournament registered be the midnight $2000 guaranteed $11 1r1a turbo. That is what I did and was pretty militant about it without evaluation. Really started feeling like crap half way through the night. I was up past 4am the night before. Fired way to many rebuys, got an attitude, should have been more self aware.

Some adjustments
1) Through experience, my best poker is played with just 2 or 3 tables open. So for now, am going to limit the amount of tournaments played at one time.
2) Giving myself permission to take a break or end the session early if physically or mentally not performing well.
3) Will not fire more than 2 rebuys in any tournament.
4) Maybe be more focused with training vids instead of twitch streams?

Global Bankroll $409.89

Really thinking, praying about and researching becoming a streamer, will see where that leads.

Smelling multiple final tables tonight

3 Days of Horror

Well, could be worse I guess. Played 75 tournaments Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Cashed in 15. Built my bankroll up to $213.96!

Off to a good start today, wasn't expecting these special Presidents Day tournaments, rearranged a few things this afternoon.

What would have happened in the past, after my roll got over $600, I would have cashed out $300, and have had to deposit into my Global account by now. However, my wife would have used that $300 on a couple more pair of shoes. Global gets rake, the wife gets new shoes and I begin to doubt my ability.

Now with the bankroll plan, still have over a hundred buy-ins and this downswing really isn't effecting my attitude. Yes, I would love to be playing larger tourney's, that will come. The bankroll increased 10x in 8 days and am excited about grinding it up.

Global Bankroll $213.96

Will update tonight session later tonight or tomorrow.

Nothing all that ground breaking to report on Presidents Day.

Played 18 tournaments, 8 cashes, up $69.13

Global Bankroll $283.09

Rolled to play $11 Freeze Outs and $5.50 Rebuys today.

Bankroll Challenge - First 9 Days
185 tournaments, 25.4% ITM, 36.3% ROI
$259.86 Total Profit, $28.27 profit per day
$1570+ Buy-Ins
12 Final Tables, 2 Binks

I was going through everything and doing a lot of pondering about how and where I really need to improve. There is an ongoing need to constantly evaluate, educate and improve overall strategy and understanding of the game, that is a given.

Today, I was thinking about my 12 final tables. My average finish position was 4.5 of 9, so average. This is a tiny sample but it is an example. The amount of profit by simply improving my average finish position by .5 or 1 is absolutely huge. Looking at some payouts, the top 2 positions are going to pay 3+ times a mid-final table finish.

I think I need to worry less about making a final table and focus more on arriving healthy, even if it means I arrive a bit less. That is not a new thought, it is probably in your favorite "How to Win a Poker Tournament" class, course or article. Just looking at my own numbers it becomes real to me. It is something that I have got a little backwards in the past during heat of the moment.

Happy and looking forward to tomorrow.

This is going to be a roller coaster!

I'm not an MTT player but when you have a run of good results, is moving up to the biggest stakes you're rolled for the best play? Wouldn't it be good to stay at you current level a bit longer or move up more slowly to let your game adjust to the better players and to avoid these big swings?

I believe you may be good enough to beat the bigger stakes but it could take everyone a little time to adjust in terms of mindset?

if you cash and are not super-fit for the highest level that you could play now, you should stick to your schedule and add some slightly higher games to it. so if you play 1$ on a 100-200$ roll and cash for 200$, you should still play 2$ and add a small amout of 3-5$ mtts to it instead of going "5-10$ only"
the graph after a bink usually goes down a lot so it is to counter that. raise your ABI a bit, but please not by a big margin.

Parsons Grinder and Uhrenknecht, thanks for your input, it is much appreciated! Your posts are similar and I am in agreement.

The cool thing about Global is that there are so few daily tournaments to play. It will automatically keep a certain a handle on that by default.

A comfortable amount of tournaments for me, for an evening grind, is around 12+/-. My next bankroll level is, $22 Freeze-outs and $11 re-buys. Global only has two $22 tourneys and three $11 1r1a tournaments on the regular evening schedule and three of them start late. I would probably only add 2 or 3 of those to the normal grind depending on when other tournaments bust out. Right now my ROI on $3.30 re-buys is crazy, The $5 re-buys are good as well and am not dropping them off the schedule. By default, your suggestions are going to be the standard.

Some of the big swings are directly related to the Grizzly Games that are creating additional opportunities outside the normal schedule. Also, my bankroll guidelines are a bit more aggressive on purpose. I understand, moving down in stakes will need to happen from time to time.

This whole challenge was to build an exclusive poker bankroll, not use outside funds and fund my trip to Vegas this summer. So, turn $23.23 into $6000 in 110 days from start to jumping on a plane. Right in the middle of all this, there are 17 days that I will be on vacation. I will still get some evening play on vacation. I am figuring it is about 100 days effective. 10 days down, 90 to go.

But yeah, all things considered, this is going to be a roller coaster.

Get in, Buckle Up and Let's Go!

rebuys are **** mean for the bankroll. either decide beforehand how much money you wanna spend or the blind level where you leave the game instead of rebuying blindly until the addon. If you go wild you can easily spend 20 Rebuys in one **** 90min-r game since you always come back as a shortstack and your pushes just never work somehow

Luckily on Global they only have 60 minute rebuy periods and 30 minute for turbos. I try to play them like a freeze out and try to limit it to 2 rebuys. But yes, it can get out of control.

Wednesday - Bad

Did you ever have one of those sessions where you just were not into it and end up just going through the motions? That was me on Wednesday. I had some stuff I was dealing with and just could not turn it off, which is not like me. Even though I played 20 tournaments, I was not close to being engaged at a point where I need to be for a successful session. Probably would have been best to take the day off.

Global Bankroll $178.56

Had to drop down to $5.50 tourneys and $3.30 rebuys

Thursday - Good

Brand new day. Got up, took care of some things and prepared to play poker. Put on my earphones and listened to training vids for my whole daytime session. Focused and determined. 23 tournaments, cashed in 7, two 1st place and three 2nd second place finishes.

Global Bankroll $460.52

Rolled to play $22 tourneys and $11 rebuys, though my average buy-in will be way under that. Want to maximize the upswings and minimize the downswings, those big downswings feel like a kick in the genitalia.
