I am a whitey from Europe. I have a Mexican Girlfiend since 3 years. Surprise surprise, we are happy together since then, but my point here related to the discussion is, that occasionally we're both making subtle but spicy jokes/references/comments - you name it - regarding our origins and none of us is feeling offended nor starting a ****storm as ITT. Does it prove that we live in pathological racist relationship or we're just mature enough to see our differences and accept them - you tell me.

What bothers me here is that we live in the world full of hypocrisy where people think it's better to be "politically correct" on the outside, pretending to be neutral and tolerant for everything, still being more racist by their actions when noone is looking, than people who occasionally will make a provocative comment or will not be scared to state the obvious, but overall will be tolerant and respectful to everyone as I'm trying to be.

P.s. @z0mgtiltz
Dude I'm a fan of your thread and I admire your work & ethics, but I really think that you crossed the line with your post couple pages back - so I think "grow up" and apologize for it or leave it. Because yet you have here perfect proof - your post was far more offensive and toxic than anything that Meale said.

Peace
Two people making jokes about each others respective ethnicities is not inherently racist.

But it's another thing if my standard line was to call black people ******s, at that point it doesn't matter if I have a black friend who I make jokes with.

And I'm sure you understood my point.

The issue is much more nuanced than simply stating "you are racist" or "you are not racist".

I don't think anything productive will come from discussing this subject on the internet with a bunch of strangers, especially since the majority of them have spent little time with any minority group.

Hopefully as a society we continue to learn about each other, grow, and realize we are all humans and have a lot in common.

Now can we get back to poker and workouts.

tbh I kinda forgot how segregated most of society is still. I was privileged/lucky enough to grow up somewhere extremely diverse (although still very racist). gives you a different perspective when you're friends are the ones being called the n word in the street

so after watchng that podcast someone linked, they talked about fasting etc etc and i would like to give it a try. The salt baths or whatever you did isnt normal right? No need to do that ye?
She talks about just water fasting for 72hours iirc. Does that mean you cant even drink coke zero even if its 0 calories? feel like it would be super tough. any tips?

Salt baths aren't necessary. The answer to your question is in the name: water fasting. Nothing ingested but water. Just because there are no calories in the Coke doesn't mean there aren't any metabolic processes that are triggered by the need to synthesize its other ingredients. Getting into the habit of drinking water almost exclusively has plenty of overall health benefits even though it's tough.

A lotta racist trash ITT, unsubbed.
You made four posts ITT since you unsubbed.

That's a bit random when you are looking to take the moral high ground.

You unsubbed - show a little class - don't respond.

This forum has turned into a reality TV show with people sharing way too many personal details than ever necessary, If you don't know someone personally don't take it personally...and if you do however you have too much time on your hands. Anybody got any real problems in life to worry about here?

The conversation called for me to chime in

Brush off racist comments as nothing. Call people snowflakes for being offended. Try to insult my character for something completely irrelevant.

Love you guys, anything to defend your bigot champion.

Unsubbed.

YOU POSTED EVEN THOUGH YOU UNSUBBED YOU FRAUD

Meale is Aussie right? It's pretty culturally insensitive of you not to appreciate that all Aussies are racist.

People should 100% call people out for their racist **** you just need to do it in a non-"threatening" way so people don't dig in deeper to their position.

When you post on a public forum you open yourself up for criticism. It's part and parcel and a pretty good thing imo. A lot of my personal growth over the years has been a result of using forums and being exposed to different people and ideas all over the world.

It's understandable the thread is getting derailed. It went from hookers and blow to eating bacon in a salt bath.

You realise this is a racist comment in itself, right?

I believe that was the joke.

His second paragraph is very important FWIW. Big difference in how people react to "you're a racist for saying that" and "did you know that saying that is a bit racist?"

What a state this thread has become... all over a misunderstanding of the use of a word which isn't generally recognised as derogatory in Aus. To them it's probably on par with with them calling us English "Poms".

Why exactly are you offended? What racist comments affected you personally?
02-02-2019 , 08:12 AM
Racist comments don't need to affect someone personally for them to be offended.

A: *Says something racist*

B: That's kinda racist.

A: Why do you care? You're not a part of the ethnic group I was insulting.
02-02-2019 , 08:19 AM
Being offended is a choice. If the "insult" isn't directed at you you can choose to ignore it and unsub, or you can be a little proud SJW and tard up a thread needlessly.
