But everyone plays LAG and deep, so the game can be swingy.

If he's clearly the spot why were you shortstacking on NL2000 when he was deep?

Shortstacks have a higher theoretical EV at a deepstack table. He might think that the extra EV that would come from the spot wouldn't outweight the extra money he would get by shortstacking.

It's a function of how good at poker the worst player of the table is and how better the rest of the table is.

Depends on your position, who's deep and who's not, and what type of mistakes are being made.

True, unless you think you can force larger mistakes with deep stacks than the short stacked advantage gives you.

2019 results



I managed to import most of the hands played on sites that don't auto import, so I can finally post my 2019 results.

Results wise, I am definitely not thrilled. My EV was probably around 500k, and I won far less than that.
However, last year I ran really good, so all in all it kind of evens out.

It is a good reminded how crazy variance can be at High Stakes poker.
You just have to grind hard, grind smart and hope for the best, because you cannot put in a million hands a year.

I am definitely happy with the amount of effort I put in. You can let things get to your head after a big winning year, but I managed to stay hungry and focused.
The games have been much, much better in the last few months. The second and third semester felt like a bit of a waste.

My plan is to take a bit of time off and go see Mexico and New York, because I have not really had much time off lately.
I'll be fully relaxed when I come back, work on my game a bit and be ready to grind hard until summer, when I go to Vegas.
I won't really be playing 500 Zoom anymore because it takes up focus but doesn't add too much EV, so I will stick to 10/20+ and keep finding the best games out there.

I'll post some updates about vacation and some random poker or life thoughts in the mean time, if you guys are interested.

So the alleged big boss MMA is just a weak short stacker who barely won 80k last year.

At midstakes guys tend to play 1-3 different stakes as in 1/2-3/6 if you were to play one stake all the time at hs, variance wouldnt be that big. But when you are playing from 500z to 200 400 deep ante, a good/bad session at your higher stakes can make or break your year. Also the fact that it is way harder to make volume at hs. You dont really see guys playing 800k hands per year at hs.

You play much less volume. I play about 30k hands when I grind all month.
At mid stakes, it's not that hard to grind double that volume.

And because I mix stakes. I play 2k - 10k every single day and I used to play a lot of Zoom.
If you run good at 500 but badly at 10k, you'll be down.
Last year, I ran good at higher stakes.

There is no job in this entire world I would rather do than be a vlogger or an influencer lol.
