What's the best straddle strategy? Never straddle? Straddle button? Straddle LP if ppl behind you are tougher?

If you were going to straddle by yourself you would be losing less money by straddling the button than straddling any other position.Straddle LP if ppl behind you are tougher?no

Na that's all good I'm not planning on moving to the US. Just curious though, if you're making 100-200k profit annually just playing poker, how much of this are you shipping to the tax man?

Rake in AUS is ridiculous but when you remove the fact that there's no tipping and no tax, I'm trying to guage just how much worse the games are for professionals here. In the UK, you have the same rake as in the US, no tax or tipping. Had you ever thought about moving there to avoid this issue?

It's really going to depend on a lot of factors. Most people would prob fall into the 25-35% range

Nah, I'd need a really good reason to uproot myself and move somewhere to play poker. If smth happened with poker where I couldn't make as much I would rather just find some other way to make up for it that didn't involve moving to another country

Getting a shoutout in your thread was cool. It made me feel somewhat guilty that I've essentially been doing the bare minimum. I've had people drop subtle hints to me that they've read this thread and it's forced me to give recent stories the yada yada treatment. When I start to write about some experience from my past I can't help but think who will read it and what they will think about me afterwards. I still plan to write more but unfortunately some things I had previously planned on including will have to be omitted.

I'm at a major turning point in my life and I'm facing a lot of challenges. I spoke with a mental coach yesterday and he pointed out some glaring deficiencies I need to address. I came away from it with more confidence and excited to make improvements in my life. I have not been utilizing the connections I've made in poker at all and that's something I plan to change. I've made some changes to my diet and exercise in the last few years but nothing close to what I should be doing.

In the last year or so I have not made poker a priority. Everything else comes first and I go to the casino and play in the time I have left. I've always been envious of my peers who can spend a lot of time with poker and still have time for leisure activities they enjoy. I have to come to grips with the fact that I had my time to do that and it's passed. I have immense responsibilities but I still have to work and take care of myself. Poker can be extraordinarily stressful at times and it's easy to feel overwhelmed by it all. Constantly reevaluating my routine and looking for ways to streamline and improve it so I can be more efficient is key. Knowing areas I'm lacking in and not putting a plan into place immediately is something I plan to stop doing.
