I am 21 years old. I live in Toronto Canada, I have been interested in poker for many years now. I have read many poker books, read many forums and website blogs, and watched some youtube videos from gripsed poker. I find my strengths are live games and online tournaments. I need to improve my online cash game.

My Goal is to make $10,000 profit off a starting bank roll of $200. I hope to do so in 1 year. It will be hard but the goal in itself is more important then the time frame completed. I am going to play on 888 and Party Poker. Bankroll management has always been my issue. So,I created a bank roll management chart which I am going to try and follow.

LV-1 $0.02/$0.04 until bankroll $300
LV-2 $0.05/$0.10 until bankroll $750
LV-3 $0.10/$0.25 until bankroll $1,500
LV-4 $0.25/$0.50 until bankroll $3,000
LV-5 $0.50/$1.00 until bankroll $7,000
LV-6 $1.00/$2.00 until bankroll $20,000

I am going to play full ring games only as well as $3 sit n go's. For the first 2 levels I am going to multi table 4 tables max, starting off with 2 and gradually moving to 4 as I feel more comfortable. Once I hit level 3 I plan to play only 1-2 tables at a time.I am going to try and read a new book ever 2-3 weeks. I plan on spending 2 hours a week looking back at my play history and studying. If anyone has any suggestions on how to study that would help alot? I will try to post weekly on my progress

I hope you make it but... your goal is 10k but your level 6 specified playing until 20k... so you wanna play until 20k or 10k?

I'd suggest you to deposit 750 right away and don't waste your time on LV-1... start with LV-2 right away. Its just booring to play $0.02/$0.04 juuust saying

Agreed^^
If feasible deposit enough for NL10 and don't waste too much time on lv1 the differences between stakes at that level is so minuscule you'll just be wasting time.

With a 200 deposit, you could easily start at nl10. If you can't beat nl10 with 20 BI, you're pretty screwed for moving up in general.

My Goal is to make $10,000. I would use $20,000 as my bench mark to move up a level. I think i am going to skip level 1. It is just a precausion level incase I were to slip below my comfort bank roll management level. Im actually going to start with $300 and try to grind my way up.
My first session will be tomorrow. I would like to be able to make $10-$15 per hour playing. at what level do you guys think this will become a regular hourly rate?

In order to acheive my goals I am going to move my playing area. I normally have my computer set up in my bedroom, but I find I get distracted to easily. t.v, sports updates, lay back and get to comfy and loose focus.I am going to set up my desk in my basement next to my work out equipment. I think this will help my hourly rate.

I started with a bankroll of $300 on 888 and $200 on Poker Stars. I decided to go with stars because I find I will get more action on SNGs. I am going to strickly play SNGS n cheap MTTs on STARS.
Day 1 didnt go as hoped. bank roll dropped to $265 but it is now back to $301.67. I found I tried to do to much . I am constantly indecisive if I should play SNG MTT or Cash.

How do you guys mix up which games you choose to play?

Right now I am going to grind out a couple tournys . Wish me luck

Just play whichever you enjoy the most there is no rule or anything. You can switch between and see what you enjoy and are good at and then put time into it

HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE.

Didnt play tonight cause I have been drinking and smoking. Wanted to but thought better of my goal, and made the smart decision not to. My favourite is MTTs. I find I do well in long tournaments. When tournaments have 15min blind levels I find I play my best. I am too aggressive in cash games, especially when the pot is unopened. I need to do better when on the blind. I find I defend my blind to much. I lose the most when BB, and SB. Button is where I make the most money.

I am going to start reading the book Sit 'n Go Strategy by Collin Moshman.

Yep play mtts! But when you play mtts you cant just stop playing... In cash you can leave table and that is it so there are some -and +

I played 8 SNGs and 1 MTT. placed in the money in 4 of the SNGs and came 86/351 in the MTT. So i didnt win anything there. Overall I played well. 3/4 SNGs which I lost where 10 player double or nothing style SNGs, and the 4th lose was a heads up SNG. 3/4 SNG which I placed in the money where 9 player max SNG with top 3 spots paying. came 1st,2nd, and 3rd. 3rd place one I should have won in my opinion but I got to aggressive when it became final 3. I probably had a 3:1 chip lead on the other 2 players. The last SNG was a 10 player Knockout SNG, which I won and knocked out 4 plus my own bounty so 5 total.

I think for the Double or Nothings I need to play tighter. Everyone else at the table was playing tighter then tight, I guess its because half the spots pay so its more about staying alive then obtaining chips. lesson learned!

Bankroll started off with $291.65
Bankroll finished off at $310.60

Total profit off $18.95

A PROFIT IS A PROFIT. OVERALL I AM HAPPY.

Bankrool started $310.60
Bankrool finished $1612.02

Total Profit off $1301.42

Hey good job!

Making the jump directly to NL50 can be very dangerous if you never experienced this limit before. I would suggest trying NL25 first or at least do more than 2 hrs of studying each week. Regardless of the limit 2 hours of studying each week sounds way too low in my opinion.

Good luck!

I have played both limits in the past. Just never properly followed proper bankroll management. If I find I lose more then i win I will move down 1 level until I think I am ready to move back up.

Maybe you can help me. If 2 hours is too low, what can I do to study. I am currently reading a book on SNGs. What other ways can I improve through studying. I am very interested in ideas that will help.

Strat forums - post hands in them. Comment on others. Learn from it. Yada yada yada

Websites like deuces cracked or card runners. I have a DC membership and watch videos often. I've learned a lot from them and they are usually more up to date that books. Even stuff that is like 2 years old is going to be more appropriate than 90% of published books. Don't get me wrong, I have read a bunch of poker books and enjoy them and learned a lot, but I really like the instructional videos.

Keep crushing

Get pokertracker/holdemmanager if you haven't already. With that you can easily mark hands you are unsure about while playing and review them later or post them here.

I know poker books are a bit outdated but I find they give a good outline of play and strategy. I'll check those sites out. Do you need a membership for them or are they free?

They have some free content bust most you need to pay for I believe. I like DC. Never subscribed to CR, there are many many more. You binking a big win a few days back, take it from that if you want to get a suds riptide. you should probably be taking poker related expenses out of your BR anyway

Gonna Grind out a bit. Just to give an update. I went to Niagra Falls this weekend and Played $1/2 and even played $2/5 i didn't stay long at the 2/5 cause my mental state was not there. I was not comfortable at that limit yet. So I made the right decision and walked away. Overall I profited $162
