20$ to 200$ using the SC2 rule! 20$ to 200$ using the SC2 rule!

Hi friends.

My challenge is to transform 20$ into 200$ applying a rule i created that i call "the SC2 rule". Before explaining it, i'll give you some background about me!

I've been playing poker for quite some time now, having read lots of books, lots of posts here at 2+2 and playing lots of STT SnG's, Small Stakes MTT's and Cash games.

After going broke three times depositing U$ 50, i feel like it's time for me to fix my MAJOR leak: TILT.

That is my problem. I do everything right, i rise my bankroll (managed to hit U$ 400 once), but then i just tilt it away. Again, and again. I know i shouldn't play higher stakes to recover losses, but i tilt and i do it.

So i've created the "SC2" rule. Whenever i loss 3BI in the same cash game session, or more than 15% of my bankroll in tournaments or something, i'll take a 15 min break to play SC2, watch a movie or something, so i can get back to my A game.

I'll also be using the "Responsible Gaming" option at PokerStars.

I really think i can do it, as i have done it already, and that i just need self control. Of course i can improve a lot, i've never played stakes beyond 10NL, but this is the first thing i should fix and i hope this thread help me to be motivated and in control!

Thanks all!

---------------------

Well, now for the Session 1 report. Didn't got much time to play, took my bro to play some soccer tonight, but did a 3 hour session after it.

Ended up almost breaking even, Bankroll at U$ 20.29, so a U$ 0.29 dollar profit. Started the session with some Full Ring 2NL tables, and the 0.10 Turbo 360 Players tournaments (3 of them), one 0.10 Pot Limit Omaha 240 Player Tournament, and one 0.25c $100 Granted Tourney. Busted early on the 0.10 Turbo 360, mostly KK x AA, AA x AK losing to a flush, etc.

Shoutout for the hand where i Bubbled out of the Pot Limit Omaha. Had something like QQ25, got it in against some guy AK36, and of course an ace hits. That was a hard spot for me to call, the guy was a LAG and also abusing the bubble, was the only player in the table that barely covered me (I was 9th in chips at that moment). As he was shoving almost everything, i really ended up considering him on a wide range and called. In this situation, would you guys rather take the flip to become a chip leader or you avoid those marginal situations on the bubble?

Ah, also bubbled out of the 0.25c tourney with 77 Against A7. Oh well, it's life.

Gonna take a while to post tomorrow, since i work 8h a day on a bank, but i'll be sure to be posting as soon as i play Session 2. Last good news is that i'm only 2% FPP away from becoming a SilverStar, wich will release $10 (50% of my Bankroll, LOL). Gonna be very helpful!

Thanks all for the support it really means a lot!

Cheers!

Well, session 2 just over after 4h playing. Bankroll down to 18.34. Started quite well but got some aces and kings cracked at cash tables, wich made me lost a few buy-ins. Also took a shot at the 1.10 8k Granted tourney, not a good idea i think, but at least the responsible gaming feature keeps me from using more then $1 at any tournament.

Could have ended the session way better if i had decided between playing just cash games or just tournaments. I'll think about it tomorrow and start playing just one type of game, not sure what to play tho.

I'm doing pretty well on the 2NL 6-Max right now, but having aces cracked makes me a bit scared of major downswings. I've noticed that the 6-max games, at least 2NL, are softer than 2NL Full Ring, less regs around and people tend to play looser. Anyway cash games gimme that bad feeling of the downswing risks, wich are far bigger than the downswing risks of playing 0.10 360 man turbos.

Hope to bring good news soon!

Cheers.

If you're worried about variance, try playing 2/3 tables of cash 2nl to spread your risk around. With your roll you might never win a MTT. Good luck though.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll be stopping the shots at MTT's right now, it's too risky and i don't wanna fail for sure.

Today i've run 2NL 6max, 4 tables, and it was pretty nice. I'm kinda Nitty atm, but it's working out. Seems like people play really looser than they should at 6max right now, and there are lots of fish bluffing around.

Had some beats early on but i'm kinda proud of not tilting and continuing to play ABC poker raising good hands and folding at marginal spots.

After today's session i've recovered the losses of day 2 and also won my first stellar reward (Bonus U$ 10). YES 50% Bankroll LOL.

So, right now Bankroll at U$30.10

I hope i can hit U$ 50 by sunday, gonna have lots of time to play this weekend, as i'll just split my poker time to run a bit at a park near home.

Actually is a thing i recommend to all of ya. Buy yourself a good pair of running shoes and go run 6 miles a day. In a week you will be thanking me for ever, i can't even say how that makes me feel better in all aspects. You don't need to run fast, any pace you can do it will improve your health. If you can't run 6 miles, run 5, 4, but RUN people! It's too damn good.

Well, to finish it up i wanna thank you all for the support, it's really motivating and keeps me from tilting, since i don't wanna disappoint you haha!

See you soon!

Running 6 miles a day is a sure way to waste your time, energy, lose muscle, and eventually get injured. Either do resistance training or HIIT Cardio. Spend 20 minutes doing sprints, or 30-60 minutes doing resistance training like calisthenics instead of hours of running.

Well, I'm not a specialist tho, so sorry if what i said it's a bad advice. I take it back.

I would just like to add that it takes me 50-60 min to run (5-6 min each kilometer), in a very slow pace, so it's not "hours of running". Fast people (professionals ofc) run it way faster. I'm not saying to anyone to start running like Tom Cruise on MI3, lol.

Also, i'm not advocating that it's the best exercise in the world, i just feel good doing it. And anyways, it's better than being sedentary, wich most of the people are.

Thanks for your input anyway!

If you're new at running, keep it under 30 minutes. Make sure you do it right to prevent nasty injuries. Doing this has worked wonders for me, both physically and mentally! Not overdoing it is key though. Use a beginner's program (podcast) if you're unsure.

I also like resistance training a lot, but it's more of a hassle if you have to go to a gym.

Hey man just dropping by to give you some more support and motivation!

I've decided I hate 2nl! I play like a real nit for like 150 hands, grind about 60 cents and then get bad beated for like $2. I suck! Good luck to you though, sure you can do far better. Drop by my thread if you get a chance in the future
