As for my current life, I'm currently exploiting a market abuse in Maplestory M, making approx $240/day by leaving on my computer. Without doing anything. Absolutely zero. My last month? UberEats & my new golden retriever puppy consuming every 2 hour of my life.

I mean I hate MTTs and live poker is bleh plus I can already play on WSOP, so I don’t see a huge point on coming out for the series. Was in Vegas last week for the first time and didn’t really love it. So yeah I’m pretty lukewarm on it.

Don’t rly know what you’re talking about, I play 5/10 nl+, don’t like tourneys and it’s certainly not worth my time to play lollive poker.

I think it's universally agreed upon, the EV in events such as the main, is insane value w/o the upper echelon of super pros. One doesn't have to enjoy MTT and simply play it for two weeks of the year.

And also how are you comparing games as of last week, to the ones during the wsop series. It's like worlds apart. Like I'm not even trying to be condescending at this point. Any1 who grinds it knows 2-3 weeks after the main, cash game dies HARD compared to prior. This is the 2nd disappointment so far.

I meant I didn't like the city that much, and I can already play on WSOP. I'm still iffy on going for the series. I just don't think whatever 10-15k in EV is in playing the main event worth flying out and being in MTT hell for a few days when I can just sit at home and pick off the tilters that busted out of the main online LOL. I also wouldn't know anything about how games are on vs off series I turned 22 this year.

Yeah I don’t really think it’s worth my hourly ($271 in 2021) to play in the main although of course it’s tempting.

Poker money is not an ‘honest wage’. It’s poker money which is fine but it’s more of a lifestyle.

Yes poker money and gambling in general is tagged with a negative stigma. Tbf we are simply just taking/swapping money from one and another.

However, honest wage definition is - an amount of money that is fair for the work that is done.

How I used the term, was quite fitting within the context. I'm not asking for more/rich, I just want my EV paid out for however I performed.

For instance, a grinder who studied a whole year, and is now going at it at. There's an hourly they certainly "deserve".

Exactly. Imagine an entire profession was eliminated, like there were no more plumbers. What would be the effect? It’d be terrible everyone’s **** would be clogged and leaking. Plumbing supply companies would fire scores of workers. The world would be noticeably worse because plumbing is useful honest work that contributes to life.

What if every professional poker player disappeared? Less tips for cocktail waitress in poker rooms. What else tho? No suppliers go out of business; the payroll department is the cage and they won’t close. I guess multinational gambling companies would have a little less profit?

I have no problem at all taking money from a game and not having to work. But don’t think the problem is perception and misunderstood stigma. Just like you said it’s passing money back and forth. It produces nothing.

I’ve always thought about this, I’ve made similar $$/ hr in poker to my job; but my job is creating actual value for others and poker is not. I think it’s something that isn’t talked about in poker; ideally the money made in poker should help us move forward in life and do bigger and better things because of poker EV cashed in on. Poker provides a lot of flexibility to become our best self in other areas IMO; and that needs to be cashed in on more as a community.

Update:

My original plan was to move with the gf with the entire family (2 cats and 1 puppy) to Vegas for 2 months and play out a chunk of the WSOP series, but plans changed and she's staying in the bay area.

Now I'm booked for flying into Vegas on Nov 6, night time, so just so I can get a proper night of sleep without rushing a flight / traffic etc. $300 hotel fee is probably worth having a "proper mindset" before Day 1, I suppose. Prebooked two nights, will book as I progress in the tourney.

With the border opening up to international on Nov 8, that means the Euros have to play against themselves. They gonna eliminate each other. Easy pool!

Other update: Trying to bring back the live VeeLog back, was in the process of hiring an editor and everything, but been super lazy (no surprise). Currently on a 21 winning live session streak at 2/5nl.

I hope my favorite players like Ashura/Panda or TroothSayer (I die every time I see this name) are playing. But then again, I doubt it.
