Alright, so the cliff notes is that I need 10k before march 10th, 2017 and I will be starting at plo 25 to try and get there.

The long story is that my girlfriend and I are living in Australia on a year long work and holiday visa. 3 months ago when we settled near Sydney I found that the job options weren't that great with a temporary visa so I was like Hey [Girlfriend's Name]! I could just play poker to make money! Granted at this point I had just been playing as a serious hobby and was probably beating plo25 on American sites. She was like that sounds dumb but I convinced her to trust me that I could do it. So the situation I am in now is that she has been paying for all our expenses with her job earnings so that I don't have to withdraw from poker and can reinvest my profits in my roll. So as of now it's been about 3 months since we found a place to live. Unfortunately Hero hasn't made much money. This is every hand I have played on stars up until this point.

I figure about $10,000 will be enough to pay her back and to finance a couple weeks in New Zealand on our way back to the states. I have until March 10th, which is when Australia wants us to leave.

My daily goals are:

to play at least 3k hands no matter what
make an effort get a little bit better

I am happy that I got my 3k hands but by the end it was getting tough for me to stay focused. I guess I will have to work on my endurance.

For the studying today I realized that I don't know the exact equity of hands against aces in low spr situations like 4bet pots. So I spent some time using Pokerjuice to figure out the worst hand you can stack off with an spr of 1. It turns out a Pair and 3 unpaired non A sidecards with 2 backdoor straight draws is about 33% equity against a 2% range. Of course the board and our exact hand matters and will shift things slightly.

I didn't play too bad today but sometimes you just can't win a hand.

My girlfriend is working less hours this week so we hung out more today so 3k hands wasn't really feasible. Our apartment had some free champagne bottles in the lobby so now I'm drunk and didn't study at all. What can you do

Man what kind of skills do you have I am from Sydney and my gf is Swedish and had no problems getting a job, just think your better off working and meeting new people, getting immersed in the culture rather then sitting at home on a computer all day

I only have a year long visa with a 6 month per job restriction so the only options are restaurant type jobs. Poker is a more fun option for me. I can still do culture things when I'm not playing.

Today I messed around with trying to model some plo ranges in Simple Postflop and seeing what it says. I don't think it tells me anything that useful and is probably a waste time considering what I get out of it.

I took a shot at 50 today. I didn't hit 3k hands today but I was 4 tabling reg speed tables for a little after zoom was kind of dead, so there wasn't much of a chance of me hitting 3k hands. Obviously the shot didn't go so great. Overall at plo50 I'm down about 4.3k with 2.5k of that being under EV so I need to keep working on my game if I want to be successful there.

I looked at a few interesting hands from today's session in Pokerjuice so I did get at least a little bit better today.

Didn't feel like playing too much today so I didn't play too many hands. I've been on the pokerjuice grind lately and I can already tell that I'm thinking about spots more deeply and making better decisions.

Day 9, I didn't study at all and spent most of the day enjoying a jazz music festival that was happening right outside my door.

Day 10, I played almost 3k hands and spent about 2 hours going over hands in pokerjuice, so I was really happy with how that went.


I really feel like my game has never been better and I'm just crushing 25 zoom. Looking to the future, I want to build my roll up a little bit more so I can take a real shot at 50 without having to worry about moving down after losing a few buy ins.

Another day in the streets, and the heater continues. I slept in pretty late so didn't get to play that much, but I did get some good Pokerjuice work in. I started day-dreaming about being a baller while I washing dishes last night. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but the heater is definitely getting to me.

Day 13: I'm going to take the day off from playing. I have been getting tired before getting to 3k hands, so I'm going to take a day to recharge a little bit.

Decided to take another shot at PLO50 today. As you can see it didn't go to well. I still have a few more buy ins that I plan on using for a shot tomorrow. If I lose those it's back to playing plo25. I did some more studying today with pokerjuice. I know that if I keep putting in the work eventually the results will follow.

I think I'm going to try something new with my studying. I'm going to be looking over some NL solutions to see if I can get anything interesting out of it. The Library Pass at gtorb is only 20 dollars for a month and access to 100 flop solutions so it will probably be worth it if I can get anything out of it.

I ended up getting back to even on the day and decided to quit because I wasn't really feeling like playing too much. I got the library pass that gives access to the flop solutions from gtorb. There is some interesting stuff on there but the strategies that the solvers give are ridiculously complex. I don't know how much value I will get from it but I'll at least put a few hours and see if I get anywhere.

Decided to call it quits today after losing 13 buy ins. I wasn't playing my best today and also running not great. I don't have a stop loss or anything but also I don't mind quitting when I don't feel like I'm on my A game.

As far as studying I'm pretty lost as to what I should be spending my time doing. Looking at the NL solutions is really interesting but I feel like I need somebody who really understands them to help explain why the things are happening and what useful information I can get from it. I still went over some hands in Pokerjuice today but I'm not even sure what I should be doing in there. I feel like I have no idea how to play my range in so many spots.

Thanks for the support. It's all on stars. If it starts to get dicey near the end I might have to start grinding out deposit bonuses on other sites. But for now I'm just focusing on getting as good as possible.

Stars kept d/cing so I couldn't play. I up about 100 more than is showed because a couple big pots I shoved and then d/ced and ended up winning but the hands never showed up in my db. It doesn't really matter though.
