tyty, I'll post some pics over the weekend, for now just some graphs.
June
So this was a pretty damn good month overall, my best online mtt month so far. After 3 months of constantly getting murdered, I have to say it feels really really good. Didn't set specific goals at the start of the month so I'll just list some positives and negatives.
Positives
- I ran really good, obviously one of the biggest factors in winning any mtt.
- I worked more, and mainly more
efficiently on my game then before. I basically had a 1:1 session right before june, and another one halfway through, what this really did for me was that it gave me some points to focus on. Just having a couple leaks pointed out, writing them down and reminding myself of them throughout sessions really helped me to work on them & gives me a sense of accomplishment when it goes well.
- When I played <8 tables, I played really focused and worked on my game.
- I've started to feel really confident at ft's, whereas at first I'd be really nervous about making ICM mistakes, I feel like now I've got a better understanding of it and I'm feeling confident when I play. I'm sure I still make plenty of mistakes but I've definitely improved loads over the last couple of months, and just having a different mindset is great too.
- My evBB has significantly improved. Towards the end of May my evbb was hanging around 5, now it's at 7. It would've been higher than that as well had I not gotten cocky after my first bink (more on that later), over the last week it's been at 10. Graphs:
Overall:
Last week (Lol I ran so bad
):
- As I've said before, my biggest month yet:
Negatives/Point of improvement
- After my initial 44BB bink, I got a little too over-confident. What I mean to say is that I started playing way more tables (I'd be 12-tabling at times), and focused less on improving. Not surprisingly I dropped a decent amount in a short amount of time and my Evbb had a downswing/breakeven stretch as well as you can see in the graph. The next coaching session then served as a reminder to me that I should stick to 8-tabling, keep improving my game and enjoy thinking through spots etc. All of which I've been doing this week and it seems to be paying off (yes small sample & variance ofcourse, but objectively speaking it's undeniable that this works better for me).
- Too many half-assed sessions, basically decided that I either want to do a full-on grind, or not play at all. I'd rather do 4 solid sessions in a week than 5/6 sessions where I stop regging after a couple of hours because I don't want to play anymore/have other things to do. Tldr: Prepare for sessions so that I can play long ones.
- Wasted too much free time. So I like having freetime and I feel like it's important for poker, but I should spend more if it doing useful stuff like going to the gym/reading books or fun stuff like spending time with friends/gf. Instead of just doing nothing and browsing forums/yt etc.
July
So lot of bla-bla but I think it's good for me to have a reflection every now and again. For next month I want to setup some goals.
Poker
- 8 or less tables at all times, no exceptions/excuses.
- evBB of 8+.
- Always have points to focus on next to me when playing.
- Get to move up to 50's/55's.
- Long decent sessions.
- Keep running hot
Non-poker
- Go to the gym 4 times/week minimum, before I start playing whenever possible (its just open 7-10).
- Read 2 books/week
- Utilise free time more, no laziness.
So that's about it for now, will update again when I ship my next mtt
