Have been playing poker on and off for about 2 years now, and think i know the game well and have solid fundamentals and understand the finer points of game flow, tendencies etc etc. My problem is I want to run before i can walk. I need to build a bankroll before i can play in the games i inevitably end up sitting at ridiculously under-rolled. So by making this thread, I may become more motivated to build a starting block by keeping the 2+2ers informed. I will post after every session i play, including P/L, tough spots i faced, and just how I am playing in general

Obv i will be taking huge risk early on with only $16 but the $5s are so soft i think its do-able.

Wish me luck!

1st short session finished, played 12 games at the $5s, won 8 lost 3 for a $23.10 profit. Players really are burning money at this level, played one guy who was playing VPIP 81% PFR 5% FOLDCBET 6%. Will play more in morning, but its really late in UK now!

Had another shortish session 2day,started off with 2mans then moved to the 4 mans for a while. Played pretty solid, lost a few 70-30s but overall pretty good. Played 22 games, won 11, lost 9 for a profit on the day of $23.60. Btw i have been playin 2 or 3 tables at a time so far and will continue to do so throughout the challenge! Since i started been running at PFR 36% VPIP 48% AGGF 2.5 so pretty solid (maybe lower VPIP slightly at $5s but im pretty laggy by nature)

Ballsy BRM. As an ex-$5 HUSNG grinder $50 daily swings in either direction were standard for me. At least don't play the 4 mans...those are even higher variance. With a little rungood you'll make it though.

Yea, my plan is to try and hit a good ish patch of rungood leading into $100. Had to work today, but will play a little now. And yea ur right, the 4 mans are swongy as hell. What do you think is a solid crushing ROI over 1k games at the $5s?

now i may be wrong, but i think a 20-25% is doable at the 5's. i wouldnt say the same for higher levels, but from what i have seen of other peoples results and reading in other places, the 5's are very easy to beat and 25% has been made by a few people

I always grinded the turbos which involve a lot more flips and variance so not sure.

Played 2nights short session (short sessions all i can fit in atm, plus it keeps me off tilt!) played 10 games, won 7 lost 3 for a profit of $17.50. once i get to $100 il will post some hands but nothin really interestin atm all just pretty standard stuff. Im not gona post coolers when my JJ runs into QQ and ask "should I have folded vs this donkey!?", we all know that those hands play themselves 95% of the time. Common Villain is obv loose passive, callin alot from BB and just playing really bad in general.

Played 25 games 2day, won 15 lost 10, so not as good as i would have hoped, but not 2bad considerin I ran pretty poorly throughout the day. Profit on the day is $18.75, and im still awaiting my first losing session of the challenge (let the doomswitch begin). I am now properly rolled for the $5s, after succesful shot taking from $16. This has taken 71 games with an ROI of 23%, so been pretty lucky to run good starting off the challenge to avoid goin busto and thread closed. Also, does anyone know if u can see ur $/hr on PT3 for SNGS?

ty sir, there a great way to learn the finer points of the game, and will improve ur all round knowledge! Just remember that ranges change a HUGE amount between HU and 6max/FR. Hand reading becomes more like 'i think he has 8x here' on a Q2833 board, rather than 'he could have 78,89,68 here' as ranges as a whole for the most part are much wider so reading specific most likely hands becomes more difficult. Read everything you can in the HUSNG forum and keep thinking about ur opponents value ranges/bluffing ranges. However the $5s can be easy to beat playing pretty ABC. GL!

gl man, 15% roi is sustainable at the 5's imo

Been reviewing 2days session, have a quick look at this. Villain was playing extremely loose, and really bad stationy donk. Given his player type, his range on this flop is exclusively Qx. Dont think hes ever shoving any better hands than Qx here as he would more than likely go into flat mode with 2pair+. Draws possible, but unlikely given that i have 2 hearts. I need around 48% equity to make a call profitable, and I have at worst 51% and thats including a few hands like 88-99, A8s, A8o, few random heart draws and Q5s+ and Q8o+

So yea i snapped. Although it seems it is alot closer than i thought after stoving it. I think 80% of the time villain has Qx here, so maybe thats why i snapped any thoughts?

Just finished 2days session, ran pretty badly if im honest, although came up against some of the worst players iv seen at the $5s for a while. Stopped after i lost probably my 8th 70-30 all day. Played well however, and turned a profit of $58 over 47 games (won 31 lost 16). Looks like i may be at the $10s quicker than i had planned, which is good news. Btw i now realise my calculations were wrong for the above hand as i did 980/2020 instead of 980/3000 which means i only need 33% equity to call, so yea it is a snap. Probably wont play this wkend, but back to business on monday!

Ok so havnt played over the weekend, but got back to playing today, broke $200 and moved to the $10s (albeit for only a few games before ending session). I have played 200 games so far in the challenge, with a profit of $190 (plus rakeback- around $10). My ROI is at almost 17% and im at almost $1 per game. I still think once my sample size is bigger i can maintain over 20% ROI at the 5s and 10s. My plan is to play the $10s until $500, and move into the $20s for the remainder of the challenge. Long term, after the challenge has finished and WHEN i reach $1k, I will grind the $30s for a decent sample to determine my ROI at that level and maybe get a coach to help determine any leaks i may have.
