Hello this is the second time I am starting a thread here (the previous one was very short). Like the title says, I am planning to move from 10NL to 100NL in 6 months, which I think is a fair challenge for myself. I am hoping to use the blog rungood and I also think having to keep this going is a good way to keep me accountable.
Current bankroll is at ~$270. I will be playing with 20BI br management for 25NL and then will need 30BIs to take shots at 50NL.
I will try and give as many updates as I can a week but aim for 3x per week minimum.
Here's the graph for the month so far. Running well ev wise but need to improve my game a lot still.
How do you plan to work on the game to complete this way in 6 months?
Good luck!
Tyty. Planning to review hands on GTO wizards and possibly post hands on this forum as well. There is a tonne of free content atm on youtube so I don't think there is too much benefit having a subscription to training sites like RIO (I have in the past), but I will definitely consider once I move to 50NL.
If you have any other suggestions then let me know!
Hit me up if you wanna talk poker / do some sweats etc
Hey man thanks, will do at some point. Saw your thread from March, will be looking for your new challenge in 2023! GLGL at the tables.
Pretty good day at the tables today but very small volume.
Biggest hand of the session going my way. Vs unknown: not sure if flop is a thing mw and even if so not sure that is the sizing. On river I literally have no bluff but he semi-tank called.
Played small volume the past few days, but generally ran good at the tables. I notice I tend to play less when I am having good sessions which is a mental leak of mine I need to fix.
Today started bad but managed to turn it around by the end.
So I couldn't win any pot early in the session and then realised the type of players I was dealing with and adjusted.
Another good day at the tables. Think I played decent and ran well too. Still feel like I don't bluff enough in 3bp, so will need to put more study time into it.
Some fun hands:
H1 - vs rec/nit I was surprised to see his hand. Flop I'm pretty sure he is meant to cbet heads up, let alone 3ways.
Turn:(28.5 BB, 2 players) 2 UTG checks, Hero bets 13.6 BB, UTG raises to 59.9 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 46.3 BB
River:(148.3 BB, 2 players) 8
Spoiler:
UTG shows Q Q (One Pair, Queens)
(Pre 67%, Flop 53%, Turn 0%) Hero shows T K (Flush, King High)
(Pre 33%, Flop 47%, Turn 100%) Hero wins 141.6 BB
H2 - Have never looked at this spot. My assumption is that we want to bluff w/ a J or K in our hand in villain's position. If we are going to use underpairs I'm guessing we are using the lowest ones we are opening from that position for the triple.
H3 - Personally I don't have a flatting range in the SB. Anyone who can convince me otherwise? I used to think I should not have a flatting range at the micros because of rake but got convinced otherwise and that helped me improve my winrate. I thought river killed my action because god knows how am I going to find bluffs on the river.
At super high rake 10nl, I would mostly stick with 3b/fold.
Exceptions are when you have hands that play well multi-way, and you have a really good chance of being involved with a fish.
Thank you noted. Asked because I saw a lot of people flatting in the SB (even some regs) so was wondering if I missed something.
First negative day of the challenge (obviously not that bad at all). Run bad with big hands in 3bp and 4bp but also a few hands I played very poorly.
H1: Not sure about his call turn, seems breakeven at best considering pool is underbluffing (incl. myself of course) but could be convinced otherwise. I think I should have made it a bit bigger on the turn optimally.
River:(45.8 BB, 2 players) 7 Hero bets 122.9 BB and is all-in, MP calls 63.8 BB and is all-in
Spoiler:
Hero shows A A (Two Pair, Aces and Sevens)
(Pre 77%, Flop 78%, Turn 89%) MP shows 7 6 (Three of a Kind, Sevens)
(Pre 23%, Flop 22%, Turn 11%) MP wins 163.6 BB
H2: This is the hand that tilted me the most. Had a very small sample on villain but even on small sample stats showed he was playing nit passive. Talked myself into thinking he would do this with a lot of Ahx
H1 - Flop is fine and i think i go a touch more than you did on the turn to like maybe 15/16? I'd probably go like 1/2 - 3/4 on the river. I kinda feel that unless villain is a rec, then your sizing just plays vs narrow ranges mostly..
Apart from running bad I punted money in a lot of spots (calling too lightly and playing too aggressively), possibly due to tilt as they seemed reasonable plays to me in game but not after, when reviewing the hands.
Here's some fun ones:
H1: I don't think villain has any bluffs here. Talked myself into this one at the end for the recs' 'random factor' but I don't think it applies here.
Turn:(24.5 BB, 2 players) K Hero checks, CO checks
River:(24.5 BB, 2 players) 2 Hero checks, CO bets 14 BB, Hero raises to 100 BB and is all-in, CO calls 86 BB
Spoiler:
Hero shows 3 3 (Three of a Kind, Threes)
(Pre 19%, Flop 92%, Turn 2%) CO shows K K (Three of a Kind, Kings)
(Pre 81%, Flop 8%, Turn 98%) CO wins 214.4 BB
H4: I had notes on SB and know he is out of line a lot of the time. Shame UTG had that specific hand.
Dedicated the weekend to study some spots I was unsure of and learn from free resources on yt. Feel like I learned a lot, polished my preflop game and also made me improve my poker reasoning at the tables.
Obviously feels good to run good after working on your game but most likely this is due to rungood.
As for the fun hands:
H1: I could do this to get him off a chop, but I don't have any bluffs in this spot.
4bet all in (cold or not) is not the standard play by any means. If you´re doing it exploitatively vs donks, fine, but I still think a standard 2.3-2.5x OOP might be better.

Cheers
Yeah only did vs this specific player because I had history with him. Usually I do use the 2.3-2.5x sizing.
Ok took a little break from the tables. Only managed a very tiny session since last update.
November is over, here is the graph at 10NL for the month.
Ran well, played ok but definitely a lot to improve on, in particular 3b pots. Happy that I started this blog as I think it gives me a higher chance of staying on track of playing and being more accountable.
Volume is ok, considering I started this ~half way through the month. Looking forward to the next month.

Decent enough results bro. Good luck for December!
Thought I'd start playing some 25NL since it's the weekend. Very noticeable jump from 10NL in terms of players' aggression.
Very swingy couple of sessions. Results were bad but also ran pretty bad, often running into better hands and a couple of huge punts.
H1: This is the one I was the most frustrated at myself for not bringing myself to fold. IMO easy fold in retrospect considering this is a boat 99% of the time, also we can have better flushes that block the Q as well if we think opponent is capable of bluffing here.
River:(71.8 BB, 2 players) 8 UTG bets 17.16 BB, Hero raises to 82.36 BB and is all-in, UTG calls 34.24 BB and is all-in
Spoiler:
Hero shows T T (Full House, Tens full of Kings)
(Pre 18%, Flop 0%, Turn 0%) UTG shows K K (Four of a Kind, Kings)
(Pre 82%, Flop 100%, Turn 100%) UTG wins 164.8 BB
fold, Hero raises to 2.48 BB, fold, BTN calls 2.48 BB, SB raises to 12 BB, fold, Hero raises to 26.4 BB, BTN raises to 122.24 BB and is all-in, fold, Hero calls 73.6 BB and is all-in
In H2 - are you implementing mixed strat on the flop with AA with bets and checks or are you just checking range? Personally i lean towards betting 25-33% or so..
