Having a good day so far - put in 125 games and playing very well on top of running well.
Wanted to put up a couple of hands here that just took place to show some typical donk lines you'll face in the hypers.
This guy was competent albeit a bit stationy and spewy in some obvious spots. Here I just never expect him to have an Ace or King on the flop at this stack size. Hand plays itself once you have that read - he also left himself 10 chips behind which might be a small tell
I think this was first hand against villain, he may have some rare 66, 55, Tx type hands but his range when getting to the river w/ this line is 95% missed draws
I'll do a first week update after tomorrow's session. Mixed games are going well, might have to officially add them to the challenge at some point but they're a PITA to track. Maybe some zoom later.
Played about 160 games so far today. Can't seem to get in the groove quite the way I did yesterday. Not to say I'm playing poorly, and as it so happens I'm running above EV despite having an adjusted ROI of 7.85%.
Playing mainly 15s now and the difference really isn't noticeable. I'm noticing how infrequently I look at how much I have in my account when the rematch box pops up. I'm focused on playing well and not how many $ are in my account, which any good grinder will tell you is a key to long term success.
I wanted to get all my games in before the Eagles game this evening however I've moved down to one-tabling to try and get in a rhythm playing my A-game. Still plenty of hours in the day however so I'm sure I'll get them in.
I will admit it's been nice running above EV the last couple days. I think at this point I'm above EV for the month.
Went on a couple of mildly tilting mini-downswings trying to get more games in despite playing my best yet today. Refocused and won my last 7 games in a row so happy to end on that high.
So far this month I've played 846 games over 6 days which is a bit behind 4k pace but I'm not too worried.
Tomorrow should be a light day, need to do some cleaning and I want to do an in depth review of my play now that I'm in a position to move up stakes. Also going to start ramping up the marathon training - probably do at least 2 hours tomorrow am.
NLHE Zoom has been going horrendously to say the least. I enjoy playing postflop poker and getting into interesting spots. When it comes right down to it I've done a terrible job of adjusting to super nitty ranges that are prevalent in these games. I'm trying to make too much happen and have value owned myself a couple of times.
That being said I've done what any logical, rational-minded person would do in my spot; switch to PLO Zoom!

On the personal side I began ramping up my marathon training this morning. Did and easy 9.5 mi in about 2 hours to try and ease back in. Have to start some speedwork again if I want to put up a good time however .
And I was incorrect yesterday when I said the Iggles played last night, they actually play this evening so I'll be watching that game and rooting for this revamped Chip Kelly squad.
Rode around on the bike for a little and went to the beach to try to clear my head but it's like there's some sort of mental hurdle to finding my motivation. I'm actually playing well too.
While I'm trying to right the ship mentally I've been playing some lower stakes mixed - if only this would happen at 1/2

CO mucked T Q and lost (-$12.97 net)
Actually if it's not a complete maniac, average population at these stakes is not doing that lightly - true no Ax in his range, but you also don't have many Ax in your range (or at least shouldn't have for obvious reasons), but you will see flush draws doing that, T9, JT, 8x, even sometimes rarely 7x and you are behind pretty much everything of that with very little equity on turn. The decision is on the flop actually - shove or fold - 12bb deep you can't make big mistake by shoving with oesd and overcard to second pair. At least my 2 cents and of course that depends on previous reads on villain.

He had been pretty spewy and 3b shoving wide so I opened up my limping range. When he c/r I know he never has Ax and isn't good enough to do it w/ 8x or 7x (for value that is) only 87, draws, and air. I think he raises most JT type hands pre as well so I weighted him towards air. That being said you're correct I should have got it in ottf because there are very few turns I can call a shove on
Pretty mediocre day, put in a little over 50 games and about 600 hands of heads up cap which I'm starting to enjoy despite running and playing poorly. Heading to a concert now, might put in some more volume this evening but definitely a ton through the rest of the week and this weekend
Got in 139 games despite 1 tabling for quite a while. Played better when I started that up but still couldn't get anything going. Was most proud of some of the harder folds I made today - generally one of my weaknesses.
It's been a rough day but I'm doing my best to turn it around. Moved down to one-tabling because the runbad was getting to me (obviously the worst players ran the best). Going to put in at least another 40 games, maybe more if I can continue to play well.
Turned it around (sort of) despite being about $220 below EV. Happy I came back strong this evening though and was playing really well. Need to figure out how to do that early on.
Minimum of 400 games this weekend and hopefully some rungoot
Things not going as planned today, EV graph looks worse than it should - too often I'm letting guys hang themselves when they c/r flop and snap call off turn only to see they hit their miracle 3 outer
Another frustrating day. Got in the volume despite spending a lot of time with my Aunt and grandma who came up for the day. Really need a big $ day to help my mindset - frustrated running below EV constantly.
month so far, only $230 below ev, more concerned with how flat my ev line is
Spent a lot of time yesterday going through my database and looking at different aspects of my games. Honestly that process tired me out more than a 200+ game session. Today I feel much more confident and relaxed while playing. Hopefully by plugging some leaks I'll be able to increase my ROI and crush the second half of this month.
Well behind 4k game pace for this month but not deterred. Not sure yet how today and tomorrow are going to pan out, might hop across the border for a bit and visit family.
Short day despite running super awesome. Unfortunately I've delved headfirst into customizing stats in PT4 and overhauling my HUD and there's no stopping me once I'm obsessed w/ something.
Bankroll is at a place where I feel comfortable inserting some 30s into the rotation. I'm not really one to say 'i need x dollars before i play the next level'. I much prefer playing higher when I feel I'm playing my A game and making a gradual transition. So hopefully I'll start implementing some 30s later in the week.
Also glad to have noticed how little the extra rungood $ affected me; focused on my EV and playing well and still working on plugging leaks.
To any serious HU Hyper grinders playing the 15 or 30s looking to talk about strategy, theory, hh reviews, databases, etc feel free to pm me.
Got a relaxing beach jog yesterday evening and then stayed up til 2 obsessing over my HUD. I'd advise you all to refrain from learning how to make custom stats because they drive you crazy and aren't all that useful in the end
Started off playing poorly this morning and ran in to a bunch of setups so my graph was also messing with my head. Took a quick break, came back, hid my graph and put in a solid session to bring me back. Not that many games so far today but happy to salvage a downward leaning session.
Wanted to post about this one clown who kept rematching me, whining nonstop, and playing pretty terribly. Easiest money I ever made and one of the main reasons I climbed out of the hole.
