This is a simple thread. Make 100k profit from mtt's. I got laid off from my job a couple of months ago and have returned to the online felt to make some money. I used to play full time ~10 years ago in Europe but moved to NYC 7 years ago for real life work. The last 6 weeks or so have been a lot of fun! I just realized how much I missed the freedom of living life as a poker player. Sure it can be stressful at times, but that all depends on your own personal preparation and outlook on life. I feel much more prepared for the grind now than I did 10 years ago. Hard work in the real life arena has culminated in me possessing a new found discipline and love for the game. In the past, I didn't work hard on studying the game. That has all changed. I really like this new era of solver poker and have invested a lot of time studying the DTO trainer and Explorer(I will be switching to GTO Wizard as the consensus seems to be that it's a better product).


Here is a look at my results since returning to the online streets:



Pretty much since March 1st ^^

As i'm currently based in the US, all my volume comes from 3 sites. ACR, BetOnline and Global Poker. Being based in NYC sucks for playing poker as I can't even access ignition anymore. WPT, PS PA or PS NJ also not an option right now. With that being said, this is a trial period where i'm looking to ensure that I can still make $$ from poker. If I can hit this 100k mark, I will then be looking to relocate elsewhere and play full time. I am likely going to go to Thailand for a month anyways just to chill and play poker/hang at the beach/ workout a bunch.


As you can see, i'm sticking to a ~$20 abi for now. At this level, I feel like i'm crushing the fields i'm playing. I like to keep the av entrants low to reduce variance and seek out the best value tournaments. I don't play more than 8 tables. I focus on quality play over anything else and want to keep studying solvers and reviewing HH's before I move up to $50 abi. FWIW, global poker is an absolute gem of a site. You can't run a HUD there but it's just so soft that it's still great value. BetOnline doesn't have too much going on but fields also very soft. ACR ofc has very tough fields but I am still beating the stakes i'm playing there.

Had a rough day yesterday. Best I could manage was a 10th and 8th place finish which is not ideal Lost $418 on the session. Didn't play my best. I changed my routine slightly bc the weather was so good yesterday. Ended up chilling for a couple hours at Washington Sq park downtown Manhattan. Then came home in the afternoon and played till 1am. I usually play more of a 10am-6 or 7pm session so fatigue was kicking in and I made a terrible call in a 3b pot with 10 left in a 5k gtd on chico which cost me $$$.

Plan today is to enjoy the nice weather, have a big workout and eat clean. Will do an hour of solver study and likely play a smaller session in the afternoon as I haven't taken a day off in 5 days and am feeling a little tired/did not sleep well.

Keeping the avg entrants below 200 is fun for me. It means more ft's and less variance. I know i'm not gonna be getting to 100k profit by having huge scores in big player fields. I enjoy the slow climb. Don't get me wrong. I'll mix it up on sunday and enter some 100k guarantees so a big bink is possible but my bread and butter is the weekday afternoon schedule.

Just finished off a short session. Got crushed -9.76bb/100. EVbb/100 was 17.35 lol. Obv tiny sample but just to demonstrate how bad it went. $-294 on the sesh. 2 terrible sessions since starting the thread making me rethink if this is a good idea...JK

Went to central park this morning it was super nice there. Something I would never get to do when I'm working full time in the construction industry. Made myself oatmeal with peanut butter and blueberries for breakfast along with 2 eggs. Lunch was chicken breast with potatoes and some peppercorn sauce. Protein shake now before gym and then some solver study later. Gonna try to sleep better tonight.

Definitely gonna do a live tournament series soon. Have comped rooms in pretty much all the LV hotels for 4 nights so gotta make use of it while I can( I checked the mgm rewards site and all i gotta pay is the resort fees and some of those even give me 100$ credit off those also). The borgata poker open is coming up shortly also but the rooms there are super expensive and I don't have any comps.

Just finishing up a session. Have had 3 final tables and still losing money on the session. Got 8th place in a 5rebuy on betonline where I check jammed ktdd on Aj4dd vs a whale. He min bet flop and called it off with qjo...... That was for monster chiplead pot as it was a very shallow ft. I busted shortly afterwards.

Got 6th in a 11r&a 6 max on global. 6 were paid and i was lucky to sneak into the money.

I just bust a 16.50 2k on ACR in 7th in a dumb spot. Villain is a breakeven reg with zero clue about ranges. Anyways I 2x pot jammed river with nut flush blocker in a spot where villain has zero flushes. Board is 6789T. He check calls j6 after probing turn. Fair enough call but annoying to land in that spot where opponents mess up their entire range and are just clicking buttons.

And in my biggest buyin I cashed the $55 5k on ACR. Finished 12th a tough field. Got super unlucky in a spot near the bubble. I opened LJ w AQcc and btn 3b to 4.8bb off 25bb. He's a HS player so I knew he can be goofing around here and attacking my perceived weak opens as I have a big stack ( I had 32bb but was 2nd in chips. It played shallow). Anyways I elected to call( I shove AQo, AKo, mix A2-A5s and small pairs so i'm not worried about getting exploited here). Anyways flop is T85 rainbow. Check /check. Turn Ace. Check/bet/call. River 3. Check/ bet allin(minus 1bb)/ I call and he rolls over A8o. Super annyoing spot. After that I had to tank into the money as a short stack. Got a couple of jams through and then bust in 12th. There was 1100 up top in that would have been nice to go deep.

Currently 10/18 in my last mtt of the session on global. 22$ freezeout. 12 paid. $407 up top.

Eh lost heads up in the $22 on Global. Overbet jam river vs whale with K9 on 99txq. He has q9. 2nd $273. A winning session. Gym and study now.

Finished 2nd in the 3k bounty 6 max on Global for $336. Last table of the night is the $22 5k on ACR. $1,344 up top. I'm currently 5/19

Today is a well deserved day off after 14 hours of poker yesterday.
My subscription to DTO expires today so will be trying out GTO Wizard for the next month. Will get the $99 monthly sub with 10% off thru an affiliate. Have a HH review tomorrow morning at 9am. We are focusing on icm. Gonna review the $22 5k I shipped on ACR last night. Had a bunch of spots where I was open jamming as overwhelming chipleader. Not sure if I was over doing it or not so my coach is gonna run some sims and we'll find out. It was a fun one where I was opening super wide cause the other guys were all handcuffed with some heavy icm pressure. Had to be careful though as one rec was in the mix and they weren't paying any attention to pay jumps and seemed tilted I was opening a lot. Eventually gottem though heads up. As always there were 5 Brazilians on the ft Those guys are tough.

Yesterday's session was a mixed bag. Booked a small win but can't help but feel a little frustrated. I built a number of huge stacks early but didn't have the luck in the closing stages. Best finish was 5th in my smallest buyin of the day, a $5 rebuy 1k gtd on global. I had a 9th in the $33 5k on BetOnline. This one hurt as there was $1400 up top a and a weak field remaining. Lost AQo<KJo where chipleader made a very dubious call pre to say the least.

The fun sweat of the day was the venom satty for a $2,650 ticket. I have been playing these $11 satties>$109>$2,650. They are incredible value. I have a $109 super sat ticket for today at 1:30pm also. Anyways, there was 5 tickets gtd in this $109 last night. There's 17 left and i'm 5th in chips. A rec opens HJ who has been playing super tight. I have KK in SB and usually I would 3b/induce even though stacks are a lil funny for this(18bb effective). But I feel like he doesn't have many raise/folds in this spot so I elect to jam and he does eventually tank/call with AJs. This is for chiplead for the $2,650 ticket and we are in a prime spot to cash. Flop 289. Turn Q. River 10. Gross. I'm left with 8bb and bust 5 minutes later.

Other notable cashes was 15th in the $33 5k on global and 26th in the $22 10k on BOL. Any top 5 in any of these tournies would have secured a decent win. This is poker however, and we can't let this get to us. All I can do is keep putting myself in the right spots. I can only control my own actions. Everything else is out of my control.

Today will be a shorter session. Will likely go out for a few hours this evening after poker. Then a big grind tomorrrow. GLGL to all on the grind.

Today was a good session. Thought it was gonna be like yesterday with a bunch of cashes and no deep runs but luckily we got a 2nd in the 16.50 $12,500 gtd on ACR for $1,924.58 !!A field of 878 entries! Super happy with it. Got lucky ofc to get heads up but went out with q6 vs 44 on q64 A7. I c/raise flop barrel turn and jam river for value. Nasty one.

Got 9th in a $5 rebuy on global. Also finished 7th in the 6.60 3.5k gtd on ACR for $119 bucks(was $787 up top). It's a great value mtt that I like to max late reg. You don't want to be spending hours at the start with deep stacks as you're hourly will not really be worth it( this is if it's an mtt at the lower end of you're buyins). Had a couple more cashes but no more ft's.

Fired a bunch of stuff today. A lil aggressive on the bankroll management today but I don't mind it every so often. Was feeling good and been winning lately/feeling confident.

Final tabled the $55 5k on Global but busted in 9th. I 3b jammed TT for 17bb vs chip leader. Unfortunately, the sb woke up with QQ and I was left with 2bb. Busted a few hands later. $136 cashed

Played a satty for a $215 ticket. 5 tickets with 6th getting $80. I finished 6th.

Cashed 2x $33 freezeouts on global only to bust f2t and final 3 tables respectively.

17th in our bread and butter 5 buck rebuy on global.

It was around then that I decided to fire a few bigger buyins.

$88 venom special $80k gtd. 3b jammed bb vs btn for 25bb AJo. Get it thru. Very next hand I limp/jam b v b for 29bb with 22. Think this is the gto line but ill check it out later. Very happy vs a vamo brazilian who probably over isolates in these spots.

$55 100k ACR. No bueno.

$109 Sunday warm up $300k gtd. Dumb spot. I open KQcc off 20bb. Mp 3b to 5bb. Covers me. I just need to start exploit folding a bunch here vs population bc i'm just not seeing enough bluffs here over a large sample. I call the 5bb. Flop AQ3. I have bdfd. He bets 2bb into 11bb I call. Turn Ac. I have 2nd pair nfd. river brick. He jams for my effective stack (60% pot). I make a terrible call and lose to KK. People just never bluff jam this spot( I do but I need to stop levelling myself into stationing off as i'm torching money).


Had built a huge stack in the $33 60k on ACR. Lost a few flips then got in my last 20bb w AKo vs 99 and KK. Out 30 from the money.


Min cashed the $109 200k main event on BetOnline for $180 bucks. Super annoying bust out spot. Aggro reg opens utg. I flat AQo utg1 w 20bb. It's a tough spot here bc 3b small to like 4.5-5bb doesn't do well vs 4b jam. I think AQ flats here a bunch but i'm not sure. Everyone else folds. Flop is Jx9c3c. Check/check. Villain is by no means capped here by checking the flop. Ev's run fairly close bc my flatting range here is very strong. I check back. I could elect to bet 33% here as I defo have jj and 99 in my range at some frequency. Anyways turn is offsuit Q. I have top top. Villain bets like 85% pot. I just hated this spot bc this is never a bluff. I call and he jams a brick river(like 80% pot ). I call and he has QJ cc for top 2.

Not sure if i'm gonna keep firing a few more turbos now. Getting tired and not playing my best. Down about $400 bucks but i'll do the full $ breakdown tomorrow

Just finished today's session. Had a repeat performance in the $16.50 12.5k gtd on ACR. 2nd again! That's twice in 3 days lol. A very nice score of $1,955.27! Very happy with the result. but very disappointed with how I played 3 handed. Had a big chip lead and got carried away with myself and made some serious blunders which probably cost me the W. Whatever. Will review mistakes and move on.

Had an 8th place finish in an $11 freezeout on global and also a 7th place in the $22 mystery bounty. These were very small fields so only won a few buyins there.

Fired a few 55's. Will be doing more of this at the current bankroll and take some shots. Especially on Global. They are way too much value to be passing up. Also will take a few shots on Sundays.

Need to hit the gym as I missed the last couple of days. Diet staying pretty good for the most part.

Thanks Range! Welcome aboard. Haha i wish man. Gotta take the good with the bad. Didn't really have a starting roll. I had savings from outside of poker and just deposited like 1.5k or so in total on the 3 sites. Caught some heat from the start.

3rd in the $55 2.5k on Global for $375. Brian Fite finished 2nd was cool to play vs him. Ran bad 3 handed but lucky to get that far so nice score.

And wow did I just run good in the $55 mystery bounty Literally finished just a few mins ago. Only 36 runners and 6 places paid. I won all 6 bounties so ran super good obviously. $1,370 score. Wow we are catching heat.

Hope you make it to Thailand. I was in Cambodia in January for a couple weeks and it was awesome.

Thanks a lot Dizzy, appreciate it man. How was Cambodia? I'm interested in visiting there also. A fellow irishman and poker streamer Svencalls lives there and he loves it. It's meant to be easier to get visas than Thailand. I almost had the flights booked but I didn't quite take the jump yet. Will defo be doing it though at some stage.

Cambodia was great. I played some WPT events out there. There's a pretty nice casino in Phnom Penh. Visa was easy

I play for a living on the Pennsylvania sites but I play on global a little too.
You'll probly win an animal trophy next Global series if you grind the whole thing. I think I got one coming in the mail at some point(they take a while)

Well it's been a long day. After that quick first session I went to grab some dinner and took a walk. Was still feeling good so came back to play another small evening session. Well I just wrapped up and have 2x 2nd place finishes to report. Both small fields but fun none the less.

$22 PLO 2/26 for $154. I am very comfortable in plo mtt's with no antes which was the case in this tournament. I have played a good bit of plo cash both live and online.



Also grabbed 2nd in the $33 mini blitz $3k gtd. $504 score. Had a good chiplead HU but lost every cooler. Had q7<q8 on q high board and KT <QQ on T high board in a limped pot. Nothing to be done there.



All in all a fantastic day with a bunch of FT's. Was a lot of fun. Profit ~2k
