Hi guys!

Been playing poker on and of since the boom in the early 00s, and thought getting back in the game could be a fun hobby.

I´m in my late 30s and have a fulltime job, so this poker project will be a side gig.

In contrast to the general ambition with poker, this challenge is not to go pro or anything like that.

The goal is tho reach PLO100 and have that as a reasonable side income outside my job. To give myself some extra splurge money etc.

So, here´s the concept:

Site: Pokerstars

Start roll: 100$

Start level: PLO2

Shot taking: 5 000bbs for next level

Volyme: 25-30k hands per month(80-100h gameplay)

- PLO is the game.
- Regtables only.
- Will post HHs and graphs, this blog is primarily to track my progress and give myself incentives NOT to drop this project.
- Mix 40bb with 100bb buy ins. Think its advantageous to be able to play with shallow stack sizes in a game like PLO.
- Will NOT disclose my Stars nick. Think not doing so will make it easier to be transparent with stats etc sinze then no one can exploit me sharing details etc.

Wish me luck, and see you guys at the table!

For some reason the stars client is barely working atm. Had some server restart that didnt go as planned I guess. Oh well, no challenge debut for me this night I guess. Have to save it for tomorrow then!

Always good starting off the challenge beeing on the right side of a cooler!

Could argue to just call turn, but at PLO2 i think the best play is just to fastplay. He probably has alot more 5x than he should be havin, and I dont want an action killer peal off on the river.

Regarding the TT52s hand above:

If we asume that villain is opening from UTG w roughly 15% of hands, and takes this line with 3x, KK and AA for value, we have 61% otr.

And if his openrange is even tighter, equitywise its actualy pretty good for us, since his amount of 3x will drop even more, and frequency of AA will be boosted.

So I´m pretty fine with how I played it.

Also call on turn is fine, that keeps his bluffs in, and the board is pretty locked down for me, so I dont feel raising accomplishes much.

The sickest thing was that I actually wanted to fold vs his bet XD

2% PFR over 100 hands, so its like always AA. BUT, I rationalized that 1) only 100 hands 2) only 40bb deep 3) PLO2 so alot of goof ball-equity.

Oh well, It was for a baby stack so who cares. But funny that my spidey sence was in tune!

No, Im mixing it up.

Villains are usualy weak vs short stackers in PLO, so its a good tool to have in my arsenal.

At these stakes its probably leaving money on the table though.

But, i need the practise, plus the game tree is shallower wich means I can play when im tired etc, cause decisions are easier.

Ok, for the upcoming week I´ll set some volume/time goals. Just as a motivator so that I´ll actually get some volume in.

Min 2h , max 4h per day.

Dont think I have it in me long term for more than 4 since I work 8h per day.

This will get me between 14-28 hours/4,5k-9k hands for the week.

I really hope that I´ll land on the higher end of the range, cause it would be nice to get somewhere volume wise in the challenge.

Short stacking can be very profitable and a good way to realise your equity. I just wonder how worthwhile it is with the rake and that you may miss out on the opportunity to win 100bb+ in a hand.

Well, yea, thats a solid point. At the micros it may not be the optimal strategy for the reasons you stated. But I will continue mix in short stack play, partly because its good practice for higher stakes, and I can play more hours(as I said before, when im tired and play B-game I can still play short, easier strat etc).

On another note, nice to run good in them big MW pots!
