An 85/15 SNE deal (or 80/20, or worse) can be very good for the stakee IMO, especially if that comes with coaching and support. Plus you get to experience new games, buyins, etc. Plus when it comes down to it, a lot of it is not really about the $$ for people, so I get there's "EV" in being staked to some emotional extent.
It's pretty fascinating that 7-8+ years ago so much attention was given to proper BR management, moving up cautiously, etc., etc. And that's when many grinders had real jobs and could just reload out of a paycheck if they took a shot and went busto. Because that's what everyone did/talked about, many people who probably should have been taking shots/being aggressive moving up didn't.
Now it's like the total opposite. I think a lot of people jump into staking deals b/c that's what everyone else does. The "rosy math" adds up and there's a chance to score big quickly. But of course, I walk uphill 5 miles and back (in the snow mind you ) to grind each day, so my filter/perspective is skewed differently.
If you've found this year that you like MTTs the most, then that's a v.v. good learning experience for your long run IMO. Cause, I think we're like, actually allowed to enjoy what we do?
Heh yea I see what you mean but my backing deal is mutually beneficial for both myself and my backer....my backed hourly (even after taking my backers cut into account obvs) is >2x the hourly I could have playing 15s-30s on my own dime and I wouldn't be rolled for what I do currently for a very long time, so its a pretty easy no brainer to get a staking deal until I'm rolled for what I do.
WRT the MTT grind, I'd want to go for the TLB completely on my own dime (besides maybe selling for like 215 turbos/other tough dailys and then $320s+ if needed), and I don't have the br for that yet either. We'll see how 2013 goes, as of now I still am very sure that my SNG hourly is much higher than my MTT hourly, and I don't mind hypers THAT much anyway. If the hypers are super gross though and I feel I'm not going to have that high of an hourly post RB, MTT grind would probably be my backup plan, who knows though.

Just woke up from a like 5 or 6 hour long nap, my sleep sched is pretty fcked up right now but thankfully tomorrow is my last day in Mexico.
I decided to man up and put in a big MTT session today as it's my last opportunity to play an mtt sched for a long while. When I get back to Mexico on Jan 3rd, my buddy is coming back with me and him and I are gonna mostly just chill and have fun for a week, I'll be playing probably 1-2 hours of $30-60 hypers each day just to ease back into grinding while hes here, and then as soon as he leaves (either the 9th or 10th, idr), the full out hyper grind will commence unless I don't feel that's my most profitable option to grind.
It's going to be interesting, the games are super super gross right now, hopefully they aren't as gross from February-October 2013, or I honestly might not be grinding for a large # of vpps like I'm planning too.
Anyhow, about to get on the grind right now. Will maybe mix in some hypers or might just play mtsngs (18s-180s) at the beginning I think just to boost the # of vpps I get, am at 996,256.32 vpps
