Haha!! Starting Gun's new #1 youtube clip!

Decent day today ... won a couple hundo but ran +EV to do so. Still feeling amazing about my move back to the regular speeds. Up to #5 on the total profit leaderboard and #3 in average profit.

Top 5 is pretty damn good, so grats on that.

And on running +EV. It has to happen at some point.

Welcome back, WD. Seems like a solid decision to stick to the regular speed games for the time being. Good luck climbing the profit leaderboard!

He's making $15/game. While I'm sure he's a good player, I'm also guessing he's done just fine in the EV luck department.

I'm sure Dervish has had his upswings and downswings like any other player. That's no reason not to enjoy the upswings while they're there.

Also, I don't think profit per game is necessarily a good indicator of EV luck by itself. He could still be running at or slightly below expectation depending on the actual hands he's been playing. If you catch a hot streak of good starting hands, that'd be good luck without it showing up appreciably above EV even if they held.

Thanks Trend! I seriously feel like a reborn player since I've made the switch. I'm sure it helps that I've had good success since moving back, but I choose to think of that as the Poker Gods' way of telling me I'm going the right thing

All good points, Grim. It's real easy to get bummed out when the doomswitch is on, so it's good to enjoy it when things are going your way.

Also agree w you about EV; in the long-term, things like hand distributions and opponents' AI's vs each other on the bubble should even out, but in the short-term they can really skew the results of your EV line.

Fwiw, about 2 months ago I was at $18 per game. I'm sure I ran +EV to get there, and I definitely ran -EV to drop from there.

While I haven't run appreciably over EV overall, I definitely consider myself lucky that I haven't run way under. I think most players would be happy to just run at their true EV, and I'm fortunate enough to have pretty much done that so far.

This was a fun hand from today.

The villain is a tight, solid reg, who runs about 12/10. He's got a 12% avg ROI, so he's obviously a very good player. I generally attack him relentlessly because of his tightness (I've won 251 pots off him and lost 191, up 8,952 chips total), a fact that is not lost on him. At the time of this hand, he had raised my BB three straight times, and I had folded each time.

I only r/r'd him AI here because I felt he couldn't/wouldn't call without an absolute monster, and I wasn't going to put up with him attacking my blind any more. This is a definite spite-call, and even though he was right, I'm glad he didn't get positive reinforcement for making calls like this on me. **** him.

Your finish distribution is sick, but theres no way your ROI is sustainable. I'm sure you are a really good player, but you are definitely running well. gl this year.

Thanks Six. Whether or not my ROI stays at this level isn't something I'm concerned with. I'm just focused on playing as well as I can. Whatever numbers come out of that are what they are.
