I appreciate you sharing!

Yeah, for sure.

A few takeaways so far:

drivers are super reckless where I am and there are animals/people/poop everywhere on the roads

very hot/humid

noisy/crowded/lack of privacy in residential areas

the toilets where i am can’t handle toilet paper so we use water to clean ourselves

the water and ice is not clean/filtered. the milk tastes terrible

there are bugs everywhere. all over the bedroom, kitchen etc

none of these are are complaints, im pretty simple. just trying to paint a picture for anyone who wants to be a part of the journey!

happy to be here

Enjoy the trip RTP !

I've been toilet paper free for 5 years , not getting to detail about it but to me it makes a ton of sense to do it the way most people do in the world (washing instead of wiping) . Just imagining having it in ones face and just wiping instead of washing .

Thanks so much, brother. Hope you’re doing well. Let’s catch up soon! I looked deeper and went down the rabbit hole into some of those situations you mentioned in pio a while back and found the results insightful.

One thing I’ve always appreciated about you since the first time I talked to you was that you never look down on American/live regs and are very supportive and encouraging.

As someone who defends/compliments euro regs often, it’s always annoying to see this in this subforum (often passive aggressively).

On the subject of defecating, and at the risk of over sharing, I remember last time I was here 10+ years ago we went to a public place and iirc the restroom was essentially a plethora of circular holes for #1 and a rectangular open space for #2.

Once upon a time I would have found this amusing, but it’s actually incredibly sad imo. India has the 1st/2nd biggest population in the world (along with China) and 4x the United States.

I think live-poker is differently challenging than online poker , it compliments skill-set of being patient , self-aware and social likeable person .

Online poker works for the introverted guy who is good at analyzing stuff , enjoys being alone in PC . It can however be that a person gets tired of that after doing 5+ or 10+ years even first years were great. What to do about getting tired is different question though . Personally I have done nothing about it , just not studying anymore , playing live poker sometimes etc ..

Whichever fits better live poker or online is question of personality imo . and if I have to guess many of the Euro guys just don't make enough money online anymore so they switched to live-poker and never bothered thinking too much of how its a social thing to play poker with other people . Personally I try to tolerate and get along with all kinds of people and never really feel that someone pisses me off when playing live . Something I hate is guys who try point out some rules (had a guy who told me I cant buy in for more than X amount to the game ) when I was a bit above because entering with just one chip etc. idiotism is always annoying a bit but I guess has to be tolerated for an extend .

...

Being too loose aggressive and thinking one can outplay guys was the biggest mistake I made (and still make when tilted ) when playing live-poker .

Second is thinking they know how to play pre-flop / that they play a reasonable range and so on .. making too many assumptions by default and jumping into too big conclusions .

Sometimes some hands can be complete crushed when getting raised when the other guy plays a random range and has tons of off-suit hands he "isn't supposed" to have

Sometimes people bluff random merge stuff without having any idea of what they are doing .

Its very random game overall at most live-games imo. and best results probably come by being a bit tight and paying attention to stuff at the table .

I haven’t, I appreciate the recommendation kind sir.

My favorite “Bollywood movies” (using this loosely and in jest):

3 idiots
Taare Zameen Par
Lion

I think all of these are excellent!

i would have thought 7/10 at your age too

but anyone over 30 has that as a 9 at worst

lots of women i wouldn't have been interested in at your age are ones i'd be all about now - perspectives change and spectrums of acceptability will widen dramatically as you age

Wife just had her small immediate side plus just a couple of Greek friends. So mainly just a run-of-the-mill small pale white wedding with the occasional Greek dance mixed in for fun.

I remember that I was one of three guys on my hockey team at the time getting married, with one of them being East Indian. I'm sure RTP can attest to this, but the East Indian guy had 33% more tables at his wedding than I had people.

Yes, I agree. My 7 months stint in India a couple of decades ago forever changed my relationship with TP and while I am not completely TP free, I substantially prefer to rinse, wash with soap, before using the good ole western TP drying business. Argentina does make this whole process MUCH easier with pretty much all middle class+ washroom households having a bidet

Thoughts on India : while India influenced me the must in all my travels and was BY FAR the most intense
Spoiler:
I would put Israel as the closest in intensity, and it was still far behind!!!
and I am more then tempted to visit again, I think I prefer to keep the memories of the 26 year old Dubnjoy000 unscathed... I believe that locking away safely those memories of the WIDE-EYED Dubn in pristine safety, outweighs revisiting with a mature/analytical POV that might just destroy my otherworldly perspective of yesteryears.

A bit out of order, but I’ve had such a great time these past couple days I thought I would prioritize those parts

Part 7: Arcade, Bowling, Dinner

I went to the arcade and bowling with someone truly wonderful who lives in the area, that I haven’t seen in over ten years, and then dinner afterwards.
