For the QJ hand btw it was HU as mentioned.

Not BTN v SB.

Moves the needle across all streets in some capacity (starting with pre) and there are plenty of additional considerations HU that aren’t particularly relevant in 6m.

It’s worth noting that Q10>QJ as a bluff candidate as JJ likely not c-betting 75% otf (thus making the J blocker less relevant) but in game its much easier to look for reasons to avoid pulling the trigger than vice versa and I think bluffing both is reasonable.

It can’t be losing once we arrive to the river, not sure how profitable it is though

Turn is closer than I initially thought as well. Maybe just fold and move on

Nobody really knows what’s happening 350bb HU which makes the analysis significantly more challenging. I have a lot of HU hands that I’m pretty lost on, but they’re typically small/medium pots that don’t get posted up.

Had some downtime but still squeezed in a couple marathon days.

Huge shout to one of my best friends, his girlfriend, and lovely dog if he ever sees this for welcoming me.

Main V is a huge whale. Overall pretty passive but very unpredictable/spazzy when stuck.

currently stuck 5k+.

$1740E~ w Main V. $4380E~ with other villains.

OTTH

Pre-flop: Player posts MP. Main V straddle utg $8. Hero $32 next to act with A K. Post folds. HS Reg calls BTN. Spewy Reg overcalls BB. Straddle overcalls.

Flop ($136): A 5 3. Checks to Hero, who $68. Only Main V calls.

Turn ($272): A 5 3 3. V checks. Hero $136. V hesitate and then $408.

What are you doing here? This V putting it in on most rivers if called. V had $1235 behind after the x/r

what are your thoughts about blind vs blind when oop?

always chopped blinds when live and in sngs/mtts you often have so few bbs it's more clear what to do

so regularly finding myself in awkward spots grinding nl50

ie Ax, if i raise to 3bb and he calls then do i just cbet any board that favors a range of raising? if they call do i continue even with air?

just feel super uncomfortable playing out of the sb, finding myself folding a lot of hands that are likely superior to the bb (like K7o) just because i don't know how to proceed, even if i hit the nuts it's then an exercise over how to extract value

The lower the stake and the higher the rake the less BvB play matters from a “where is the EV coming from” POV. Can play pretty straightforwardly pre in both positions (tight in this context).

When deeper, limping tons makes sense with a healthy mix of limp/fold, limp/call, limp/rr

For those that grind sims/study lots of theory, I would implement the heuristics you pick up.

For those that don’t, I would pick one size and x/up to to range on a lot of boards.

So you can do 33%/check on boards like K-7-3 and 50%/check on 8-4-2.

Play a pure strategy.

Probe aggressively when flop goes x/x as people tend to overstab with their value and don’t xb enough draws/made hands.

Follow through with your good bluff candidates when called, even after overbetting.

Implement overbets when probing and delay probing

x/r aggressively if you x a ton otf

put the stack in more often than you’re comfortable with (especially as the aggressor).

Completely depends. Try to direct your focus to the heuristics in your study.

More often than not good bluff/blockers = big sizing

Bad bluff/blockers = smaller sizing

pick up postflop plus, gto wizard, or some other gto trainer and hammer bvb

it’s inexpensive

Focus on making the highest EV play on every street if that helps.

For those that aren’t playing nl50 for the $ passing up marginal spots on earlier streets makes less sense as it hinders your growth in a variety of ways

thanks for the tips man, appreciated, figured you'd studied these spots a bit and figured it'd be ok to turn your thread into Q&A session for a bit

i'm doing surprisingly well in my return to cash games but it's a lol sample size so who knows how it'll actually end up, i guess i should get a hud/database so then i could speak in more specifics other than "doing alright"
