..aaand another unfortunate session of missing every str8, flush, str8-flush draw and also got 2-outed + 3-outed all-in to boot in some very juicy games, but kept my sh** together and managed to only lose a few buy-ins.

Stacking fish is no fun over Christmas and conversely bad-beats would put me in the sh***y mood so will take a few days away from the felt to enjoy the holidays.

Merry Christmas poker friends!

Just 16 buy-ins away from NL50, and then 10 buyins away from taking NL200 shots at my local casino. Let's go 2023

Happy New Year all!

Games were juicy last night, unfortunately ran under EV in quite a few all-in spots but had it in good so many times against some spew-wizards that I finished up a few buy-ins.

I also started a health thread to lose some weight + cholesterol over the next few months so you can check that out here: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/8...75/?highlight=

Saw a very tough + tight reg make the following play, any ideas on his rationale here? It looks so spew but it bothers me I can't find a reason for his play. Possibly he blocks AK? Is hoping to rep flush if it hits? Multiple ppl using this account? Aahhh I dont know...

***No-limit Hold'em NL25***
Seat1
REG (HJ): ($25)
Seat3
VILLAIN (BTN): ($25)
Seat5
Seat6

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to REG [Ah Td]
Seat1 folds
REG raises 75c
Seat3 folds
VILLAIN raises $2.25
Seat5 folds
Seat6 folds
REG calls

*** FLOP *** [Ks 8s 3c] ($4.90)
REG checks
VILLAIN raises $2
REG raises $6
VILLAIN calls

*** TURN *** [Ks 8s 3c Th] ($18.90)
REG bets all-in $15.75
VILLAIN calls and shows QQ

Been a bit under the weather this week so decided to watch some RIO vids and mess around with GTO Wizard 'solution' rather than battle the early-week regs.

Studying the AT/QQ hand above wasn't too enlightening as to the reg's mindset, but did learn a couple of interesting things:

1. He's definitely not playing a GTO style ATo needs to go in the muck pretty early
2. QQ is actually meant to fold 55% of the time vs turn jam
3. It's the QQ combos blocking the flush-draw which should be folded out 100%

Happy Monday! No notable hands, just been chipping away at the regs.

Last stretch of the challenge should be interesting as NL50 will be new territory for me, hopefully the extra training will pay off.

Lol I've done it again, I was meant to bloody move up to NL50 when I reached $1500 (£1229.90). Well I said I'd do it so the next games I'll play will be NL50 The plan will be to move back down to NL25 if I drop below $1k (£819.99).

Any bets on if/when I hit £2k?

March 15th for when you hit £2k. Doing great with your challenge so far.
Hope you keep it going with more goals when you start playing the live games, good luck for the rest of the challenge!

Yes planning on re-naming the graph and heading for $5k or $10k, we'll see how brave I feel.

I dipped my toe into NL50 tonight, played a bit too loose-agg (out of nerves probably) but luckily my bluffs worked out for me this time and finished up for the session. Feels like 'everyones a hardened reg' but I also felt that way moving up to NL25. I'll probably ghost a few sessions, make some notes and go in for some longer sessions at the weekend.

Not a bad start to NL50 this week. Bit too early to tell but having some reservations about this stake on my current site, namely:

- Very low traffic
- High level of competent agg regs
- Low level of spew-masters
- unregulated and now having to keep £300+ on the site

Might try spreading my games to some other sites and see what the player pools are like. Unfortunately not that many options for HUDless sites.

Starting to get more familiar with GTO wizard and came across this little gem the other day. I looked up how it plays 78s from the BTN vs a 3B and was pleasantly surprised by the results (assumes a 2.5x bet facing a 10x 3B from the BB):

Always folds out A9o + A2s, and always calls or 4B 78s (8% of the time). Muy interesante!

Yes, looking a bit baron at NL50+ unfortunately. Might start looking at Unibet + iPoker deals. Really want to avoid HUDs for the rest of the challenge if I can though.

Pretty good start to NL50, helped by a good amount of game-selection. Starting tables gives the best chance of having a decent rec:reg ratio + swallowing my pride when tough regs sit me by sitting-out. Love a HU reg-battle but its not the right time when building a roll.

One annoying thing I'm noticing about NL50 is a lot more hit-n-run recs, but they're usually spewing so pretty good in the long run I guess.

Running pretty hot at NL50 but made a decision that I might regret. I decided to cash out and stop playing on Crypto sites. The whole unregulated pokersites + unstable crypto market, coupled with the low traffic at NL50+, makes me not want to keep any decent part of my bankroll there.

So my choices are continuing the challenge HUDless at Unibet, or possibly investing in Holdem Manager and looking at Pokerstars, 888 or Ipoker.

...or option C, take my roll to the casino and take a very risky shot at NL200

Advice would be really appreciated guys, what's the best way to hit my £2k target?

Congratulations on the journey so far.

I'd go with option A, Unibet, if I were you for keeping things "honest" on this challenge

But if you decide to continue playing low stakes poker, definitely invest in HM2/PT4 and see which of three (PS, 888, iP) suits you better.

I would choose this option. Don't know about Ipoker, but 888 has extremely weak tables during rush hour.

And use the Hand To Note HUD. It's free.

Felt a bit yuck on this hand, possibly a bad PF call and left some value on the table with the turn jam. What do you guys think:

***No-limit Hold'em NL50***
Seat1 (UTG): ($100)
Seat2
HERO (CO): ($170)
Seat4
Seat5
VILLAIN (BB): ($112)

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to HERO [7s 7c]
Seat1 bets to $1.50
Seat2 folds
HERO calls
Seat5 calls
VILLAIN raises to $7.50
Seat1 calls
Hero calls
Seat5 folds

*** FLOP *** [Qc 7h Ks] ($22.60)
VILLAIN bets $7.75
HERO calls

*** TURN *** [Qc 7h Ks 4s] ($37.5)
VILLAIN bets $11.75
HERO raises all in $40.50 (effective)

Don't even bother sitting at my table this week, I'm running so hot I just rang up HMRC to pay a £1000 tax bill and they told me it's actually them that owe me £1700!

..stay tuned for the fall.

Rocky start at Unibet, reckon it is going to take a few weeks to get used to a different player pool, quicker timebanks, no antes, and anonymous players.

Adjustments Ive made are leaning a bit more towards exploitative bet-sizing as there isn't much need to be balanced at anonymous tables, and dropping my opening-bets from 3x to 2.5x. Wonder is 5B jams with AKo become less valuable at anon tables as you're not reaping the lighter-calls from reg players taking notes.

I've had a couple of sessions now where I've just been absolutely obliterated for 5-6 buyins with rapid-fire cold-decks and managed to pull the majority of it back by the end of the session by staving off tilt.

Hoping for some mega-sessions at Unibet once I've broken through the cold-starts, let's go!!

I'm afraid I took 'running like sh**e' to new levels tonight guys. Forget running into top of player's ranges, I ran into the apex of their ranges, whilst blocking them, soooo many times, and on the few occasions I got it in good I got outdrawn.

Ordinarily I would push through it if the games are good and only drop down when I hit 20 buy-ins, but given I'm on a new site and a large part of my bankroll isn't liquid currently (new car), I've decided to drop down to NL25 until I'm back up to >£1.5k.

..oooh just remember the Taxman owes me a bag o' sand, I'll see if I can claim that back this week. Might be back at NL50 a bit sooner

Thanks mate, saw a few tables of this earlier, looks like they run pretty deep. Might jump in a few games this week.

Disciplined drop down in stakes to NL25 but just in absolute free-fall at the moment. However I got it in this week, I just lost every single time. Shockingly I actually pulled off a massive amount of successful bluffs in the last session so could have been worse :O

This is a hard hit when a streak occurs at the moment of moving to a higher limit.
