Gotta respect someone doing this from zero pounds. It's not like the good old days when you could play 10-20 freerolls every day. And pretty funny that after 58,5 hours you have made more money than paisting in 10+ years.

Broke the £100 marker today, another nice little milestone and a lot less chance of going back to the dreaded freerolls! *phew* I feel comfortably rolled now to grind out the NL4 + NL5 cash games.

Cheers, the freeroll stage was pretty brutal. It at least taught me that my tilt-rage isn't money-oriented.

There's still quite a few decent freerolls out there, especially if you've just signed up to a site. GGPoker's daily freebie is like an easy $2.50 of value a week, even Paisting could grind a profit if he just played those

Not sure if it was lucky timing or sites just throwing these bonuses at me to get my stingy-ass to deposit Didn't used to get these back in the day.

A lovely agent from 888 helped me deposit yesterday and even added the bonus when I forgot to add the code during the chat and she explained that I would need to rake $1.50 to withdraw.

Today I go to withdraw and see that I have to rake another $240 to withdraw the $8 bonus ...Nothing support can do, hands are tied!

Bait 'n' switching a new customer for $8 haha, *withdrew and insta-closed account*

This was an interesting one:

Villain had recently seen me 3bet + 3 barrel all-in without the goods (he called TJo on 69Jss T Qs) and later also saw me OB-jam a turn with a flush-draw against another short-stack opponent. Apart from that he was playing pretty standard ABC reg poker. About 10 minutes later this hand happens:

***No-limit Hold'em NL5***
Seat 1: x
Seat 2: VILLAIN ($12)
Seat 3: x
Seat 4: x
Seat 5: HERO: posts small blind 2c ($10)
Seat 6: posts big blind 5c

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to HERO [Ah Ac]
Seat 1 folds
VILLAIN: raises 15c
Seat 2 folds
Seat 3 fold
HERO: 3bets to 50c
Seat 6 folds
VILLAIN: calls

*** FLOP *** [Kd 7c Td] ($1.05)
HERO: bets 75c
VILLAIN: raises to $2.25
HERO: raises to $8.25
VILLAIN: calls

Thoughts anyone?

I don't think Villain is calling us with the worst hands on the flop. I'm for Bet/Call and look at the turn card.

Yeah it kind on hinges players viewing me as over-aggressive, it's not a play I would make right out the gate or at higher stakes.

Out of interest are you planning to c/f any Q, J, 9 or diamond on the turn? And c/r the bricks?

Sounds sad, but while I was sick with long-covid and on the umpteenth lock-down I was dreaming of the day I could play live again, finally made it happen this weekend and got the train to my local casino. Decided beforehand the win/loss wouldn't count against this challenge.

Sat at £1/£2 and within a few hands got it in against a loose-agg player with TPTK vs GS, of course it didn't hold up But clawed back about £150 pulling off a few big bluffs.

Wife called and had to leave the game £75 down but JFC £1/£2 is softer than 2c/5c online! Would love to play these regularly if I can get rolled.

£200 milestone hit! Will be moving up to NL10 interfrastically.

Thoughts: I still have no idea how to play small pockets in EP, I remember HEM telling me they were a leak of mine in about 2010 so I tend to just muck em. I should look into that.

Yes, just fold it from EP, MP.

Great! You already made working BR for nl10.
At this limit, you can already reach the end of the challenge.

Thanks for the tip re mucking the small pairs in EP!

I'm planning to move up to NL25 when/if I hit £750 as I like to keep myself challenged. I'll probably have a pop at NL50 too but that's pretty unknown territory for me since my comeback. Has it changed much since 2010?

At least in my huge database 22-66 shows positive results from all positions at the micros. That and the more you open hands the more your premiums make.

Yes very nice point, it's quite often you get a table of mostly passive ABC players at micros so I start to open up quite a bit in EP in that scenario. Mb I can try adding small pairs and see how that goes.

Update: Pretty swingy week at NL5 + NL10, a lot of regs so I haven't put in much volume. Have seen some whales at the NL25 tables though so I'm hopeful about my next step up.

That's a pretty clean run out you should bet something small on the river.

I think a lot depends on your skill. Players often overplay these hands postflop and it's best to just fold them preflop if you're not sure what to do with them postflop.

Ok cool, thought the turn bet might be too big but my thoughts are this size turn bet:
- Charges flush/str8 draws and weak aces to peel
- Disguises my face-up hand as a possible made flush. Less likely to face a tough turn + river decisions. E.g. sets, 2pairs, small flushes may elect to check river oop rather than face a likely river re-raise. Also villain w/ the nuts might try for a c/r river.

If we go for small value on this river, aren't we getting a ton of folds from hands we beat whilst inviting check-raises by missed draws? Can we make that call with no blockers?

I would CBet flop 1/2 pot and give up without improvement. As played - fold on the turn.

My default is to CB probably 80% of the time, but do you find players start to get a bit floaty when you pull this move oop a few times? Raising someone's limp a few times in a row is quite aggressive.

Also what's he repping? is Q9, A4 etc making that river bet?
