Good evening, or morning depending on what timezone you're in.
I'd like to welcome myself to the forums. I'll just give a brief history of myself here now just encase anyone is interested. My name is Rick, I'm beginner poker player that hopes to turn professional one day. Currently I do not have a job so I devote pretty much all my time to either playing or studying the game of poker. I used to play back around 2008-2010 when I had a stable job, but pretty much I was just one of the biggest fish on there. I would deposit huge portions of my pay only to gamble it all away on the weekend. Now things are a lot more serious, I no longer have a disposable income and really would like it if this could become my income. It's a dream, I think everyone here probably has the same dream.
The purpose of this post is just to log my results for anyone that might be interested, hopefully it will give me the extra motivation and accountability to do well in this personal challenge.
I did make a few small 15 USD deposits throughout the summer, made a few good runs, but never enforced my bankroll management rules, would eventually tilt and go busto. I decided I would have to get serious about things, increase my study hours, as well as find a way to control tilt as this has been my biggest downfall recently.
A couple of weeks ago, I got lucky and cashed for $1.80 in the silver star freeroll tournament on stars. So this is really where my challenge started. I was able to grind that 1.80 into 70. I did have a bad run and almost went busto again, but luckily I was actually able to overcome the tilt and regain composure. I know a lot of you will probably think this is funny, but up until today I have not used a HUD, or tracked any of my progress. I am now using poker tracker 4 so I will be able to track my progress. I started at $70.00 tonight. My current bankroll is $ 77.65 after 1013 hands (and a lost $0.25 spin n go). My goal with this challenge is simply to build a bankroll of $1000. Something that I can actually work with. I will be making no deposits as I do not have the money for that. So hopefully all goes well and I am able to follow my bankroll managment in which case I think all will go well. I really am enjoying poker tracker 4 and all the features it has, I believe this will take my game to the next level. I am only using the 30 trial, so hopefully it will pay for itself and I can purchase it at the end of the trial period. I play on pokerstars, I enjoy cash game a little more than tournaments, so the bulk of the challenge is going to be on zoom, but I will play the occasional tournament here and there as long as I follow BRM. I will try to post my results every couple of days so please let me know if anyone is actually interested. If anyone has any suggestions or comments I would love to hear.
