Am I in danger of identity theft? (pokerstrategy.com) Am I in danger of identity theft? (pokerstrategy.com)

Hi,
I sent pokerstrategy.com a copy of my passport and then I read about identity theft which scared me. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Why did you send them your passport? I've never heard of this site before, so that should put some alarm bells in your head. However, that doesn't mean this site is necessarily a scam, just that I'm uncertain.

Actually I googled it and found this thread:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/view...opic_id=105307

If no one in that thread says they got scammed you should feel pretty safe, but next time don't just go randomly sending off your identification to sites you know nothing about. A simple Google search check will also go a long way.

They seem like a legitimate enough site, but still you shouldn't be giving out copies of your passport. If you need to send identification you should use your license and blur out all the information that isn't relevant.

Thanks a lot. That reassured me.
If anyone can confirm that they are safe and will never sell identities, that would also be greatly appreciated

It's legit. Mind you though if you have your doubts or you're worried I wouldn't send in any information until everything was proven legit.

they are legit

U should have asked the question b4 sending them copy of your passport. This info is now worthless, doesn't change anything.

Hey Porkon,

besides asking here on 'neutral grounds', you also can ask such questions directly on PokerStrategy.com, where people have loads of experience with us.

Other than that, we also have a sponsored support forum here on 2+2 since yesterday:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...rstrategy-com/

Best,
Lutz

Hi Vlee:

If we had any reason to believe www.pokerstrategy.com was not legit, they would not be here on www.twoplustwo.com.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hey Mason,

thanks for your support

But of course in general, one should always be cautious with giving away personal data.

Best,
Lutz

Can anyone vouch for the reputation of cdpoker and partpoker?
07-27-2010 , 08:50 PM
they are no partnerrooms of pokerstrategy so noone will vouch here for these rooms i guess you should ask in the "internet Poker" forum.

If you mean "PartyPoker", then yes - they are one of the most reliable rooms in online poker.

Just dont sign up for Titan Poker, unless you want your mailbox being flooded with "Golden Tiger Casino" and other random casino mail-spam...

I don't get why people are worried about identity theft. You are open to identity theft all the time. When you sign up for a mobile contract, when you make a purchase in a supermarket with a credit card. You are probably safer online imo.
