This is funny...

In my local games there are at least 10 donkeys that play A,k-10 exactly like this. Several of them have shoved on me pre-flop with A,K or A,Q off suited.

Is there anything to discuss preflop here?

We're calling a raise for ~10% of effective stack. Even though we have position, are there pocket pairs here which we simply muck and wait for better situations? Is 88 in the hazy range?

AintNoLimit said I should have 3bet pre. I kind of agree.

But to be honest I'm not calling with 88 purely to set-mine so I think its not a terrible call pre.

bet sizing seems pretty bad at a couple of spots if you're going to call off that river.

No offense, I thought villain played (almost)perfectly, you played bad.

For Villain, pretend he could see your hand the whole way. He played fine. He cbet flop. Bet out turn as semi bluff representing flush. Called weak turn raise. Hit river and shoved.

For those of you who are advocating 3-betting a TAG w/88 to $40 and effectives are $110, what is your plan if we get jammed on? Can you find a fold getting 2-1?

No, He was OOP and check/called MY BET on the flop (with ace high)

-Reminder to self, I need to hit up the Montreal Casino Poker Room soon.

Also, your turn raise is wayyyyy to small, but then again, he did call you without a draw.

Since this was a HU pot I was confident that 88 was good on the 9-high flop. In retrospect I should have c-bet bigger on the flop/ raised more on the turn since I didn't think he had a higher pair and was confident that he did not have a FD on the flop since he would probably lead out with that.

I don't really care, he's the idiot calling bets OOP with Ace high hoping to hit. I dunno why I payed off on the river tho... I'm such a POW.

Whoops, my mistake (I was at work). Still think he played alright if he floated trying to steal later. If he called thinking he could hit it was bad. Depends on his state of mind/LOL.

I think he called cuz he's a fish thinking ace high might be good - since I had been really aggro at the table and had shown a few bluffs before.

I raised the turn since I knew I had the best hand and wanted him to pay to draw. In retrospect I should have raised more on turn since I was very confident in my read.

Calling river was obvious mistake and I probably did it due to tilt... something like... "geez did that card really have to come.... FML... call"

Say I raise in LP (with AJ, AQ, AK, maybe suited boadway) and get called by BTN. Then flop is something like what came in this hand 942r or 682r. How do I proceed OOP, heads up?

I find that checking here sucks since lots of live players feel that if you check they must like auto-bet. If I bet then I'm bloating the pot with air and have to give up when called plus opening myself up to getting bluff-raised. It sucks since ace high is the best hand a good percentage of the time since there is a decent range that ace high beats on those type of boards like {KQ, KJ, JTs, etc...}
heads-up i'm c-betting this almost 100%. i usually have a tight image which inclines people to fold thinking i have an overpair on flops like this. if you tend to have a LAGish image you may find you have less FE on flops like this, so my recommendation would be c-bet more selectively (i.e. against he right villains).
