I got a new phone on Dec. 19.

Since then I have played 981 hours and last night, I surpassed $20K in slightly more than six months of $1/$2 and $1/$3. (I am -$574 in 41 hours of $2/$5). Also have a little bit of PLO and a little bit of a mixed game.

It is easily the best six-month stretch of poker I have had in 27 months as a 'pro.'

Thanks to cAmmAndo for kicking my ass enough to convince me what I should be doing.
Congrats Chip!

Used to be I played most of my hours at Harrah's Philadelphia. Now, I play almost exclusively at Sugarhouse.

Can confirm SH is a god damn donk fest. Wish I had more time to play since I live ~15 minutes from it. Sadly when I lived within walking distance from it, it was before they opened their poker room

June stats
+482 in 53.5 hrs for $8.99/hr

A little rough but these include a $1500 loss on a 5/t shot take where I ran QQ into AA twice.

Sitting squarely at 11k BR, I've decided to push back my notice 4 weeks or at least until I'm at 13k. 15k would be ideal, but I'm OK I think having a little less. Feeling good to be close and confident that I'll still hit my goal very soon of being mostly pro.

Been really getting my **** together since the 15th of this month. Tons of work on well defined preflop opening strat and now working on solidifying flat/3bet/cbet strat. I keeping finding that about 90% of the really solid advise comes from the top 10% of media, but that's been a nice realization. Book marking a ton of good stuff, taking lots of notes and going over the really good stuff daily.

I think it's helped my game tremendously to be able to autopilot some of the early decisions and then focus more on subtle table nuances later in the hand.

Got invited to a 500 BI min HE/stud8(15/30)/plo/plo8 game that runs every week and looks great, so looking forward to developing a little more in 3 card+ games.

Stats since the 15th and getting my **** together more
+2479 in 29 hrs for 84.79/hr feeling great to put some distance between me and the seemingly endless wall of run bad/BR rollercoasters in the past few months.

Taking shots at 5/T with an $11k bankroll and an interest in playing PLO, right before turning pro. Hmmmmm....

Dude lol. Do not quit your job with an 11k roll, especially if you're playing 15/30 limit and 5/10 NL.

I was playing 2/5 and 4 whales came in from golfing and wanted to play 5/T so I played. It didn't matter if they wanted to play 1/2 or 10/20, it was going to be the best game in the room, atm it isn't going to kill me to lose so I played.

You're going to have to show a lot more discipline than that when you start playing full time. I have to be honest with you though. Playing 10/20 with a couple of whales when you have an $11k bankroll doesn't make much logical sense to me regardless.

This sounds like a crash and burn situation. I hope not.

sungar you're logic is absolutely wrong. For one, it sounds like you didnt want to play the best game, you wanted to play the best game relative to how big it was. There was likely a 1/2 game with 4 or more whales at the table.

Is dropping 2-3k going to make you broke? No, it wont. But if thats literally your net worth and you don't have a job, it is absolutely a terrible decision. The relative worth of losing 3k is likely more detrimental to you than the net gain of winning 3k.

You are not ready to go full time if you can't see this.

I'm not going to sit here going back and forth. While I'm still employeed full time I saw a huge upside and relatively small downside to a once in probably 6 months game and took it.

I've looked a ton at BR management and I do intend to continue to shot take while pro w between a 10k-30k BR. At some point I'm confident I'll find a skill cap where it doesn't make sense for me to move higher without an extremely large safety net, however atm (and probably w everything above 8k) Im not particularly concerned w confining myself to just 1/2. There really are a lot of great situations that pop up in my area where really bad recs and not so solid regs end up in 2/5 and 5/T (not as much, but in this case definitely) so yeah, I understand that lots of people have no idea what they're doing, but this was, at the very least, not as irresponsible as its getting made out to be.

I think 15k is definitely solid for me in terms of taking the step to playing full time as it will give me 50BI at 200 and close to 6 months of living expenses (and also a track record of making more hourly at 200 than I make on my current salary) . Currently, and probably after turning pro, I'll be playing around 70/30 1/2-2/5 (especially when it's soft) provided that I can maintain a BR of around 15k. Like I said, you're entitled to your opinion, but I've done my research and do feel comfortable w the plan I've gotten together.

FWIW, the fact that you currently still have a job isn't good enough reason to continue taking ridic shots if you're only making $20ish/hour on your current salary -- that money still means a lot to you.

Had my first losing session in PLO since last month, played terrible, ran terrible, and lost focus.

Accidentally raised to 500 instead of calling for 100 when I grabbed the wrong stack of chips and got shoved on and had to call off the rest for pot odds reasons, so I lost 1200 instead of 100 because I'd have folded the turn card

At the end of the, session I quaded up on a flipped middle set so the rungood continues

Was down 5k before the hand but ended up at -230

So sick
