Why would you grind 1/2 for maybe $25/hour if you can pick up shifts making double-triple that?

I am a low stakes perfessional...my house is on the market for 719k..this is the absolute furst time I have ever mentioned it. Not a brag - just showing u that some of us actually have something in the bank.

Congrats Zippy, nice results!

My first 1000 hour results were pretty much equaled in my second 1000 hour results. Nearing my third 1000 hour results... and based on them you would not believe that they were produced by the same guy who played the first 2000 hours: 43% of earlier results.

Change in game conditions, you got worse, or just variance?

I actually consider 1/2 and 2/3 low variance due to how truly awful the player pool is.

Could also be due to my playing a lower variance style against those horrible players.

I also play a very low variance style.

Games can change, drastically, given time.

- likely impossible to get big enough sample to accurately estimate live hourly win rate. Buddy in the first half of that giraffe isn't the same guy as the second half.
- Crush Live poker is worth the money.
- I got serious about studying and improving my game the end of last summer.
- studying isn't enough. Real live hours spent learning to understand all kinds of different personalities is important.
- You've got to pay attention to everything people do and say.
- simple bet fold, thinner value than most will crush the small games
- my 1/2 win rate over next 500 hours is likely to be better than $20/hour and better than $30 at 1/3.
- I believe 1/2 win rate likely tops out no better than $25/hour and 1/3 $37ish.
- could be misplaced ego, but I truly believe that more than 98% of the players I see at 1/2 and 1/3 have zero chance against me over even small periods of time. Often I feel like it isn't really fair for me to be in the same game most of the time.
- it is important for bad players to have winning sessions sometimes. Don't begrudge them the money they win from you in any given session.
- It is important for those that aspire to play for profit to be friendly and always try to make poker fun for many different reasons
- Results of any one hand or session don't matter. All that matters is if I've made the right decisions. Even though at an intellectual level this makes sense, it took me a long time to be at peace with this at an emotional level. Once I did, game became easier for me. Though I occasionally still forget.
- I'm very good playing against bad players
- It is likely my hourly at 2/5 would be better than the smaller games, but the smaller games are zero stress and fun for me.

Maybe this post should be the start of a personal goals\challenges thread for me?

Nice post zippy. Very solid winrate and an ok sample size as well. I pretty much agree with all your points. I would highly recommend you to consider moving up to 2-5 however. It may be more stressful briefly as you make the transition, but the rewards are more than worth it. Also, the skill level jump from 1-2 or 1-3 to 2-5 is negligible.

Tipping containment warning - $1/hand (player with the extra dollar tips on a chop). $2/hand if there are a bunch of side-pots and the dealer has extra work, $2/hand in PLO since it's slower.

Sitting on a whole 4BI of poker money

Never fails that when I pull some out for a life expense I get doom-switched and drop another $2k. May have to convert that withdraw to a loan. Bah.

I'm assuming this was directed at me since my first screenshot shows total tips=$3 over 1,300 hours of play....

I must have hit the tip button in my app a few times by mistake. I don't keep track of tips at all. Just what I buy in, top up if applicable, hours played and cash out.

If I were to guess, tips take 3-6 an hour off my win rate.

Food/Drink + dealer tips comes out to about 10% of my winrate, there's no way tipping alone can be $3-$6 off your hourly, unless you are way overtipping.

My rule of thumb (i play 5-10+)
$0 on pots < $100
$1 on pots ~$150
$5 on pots ~ $2000-$4000
$10-$20 (max) on pots > $6000-$7000+

I don't drink alcohol while playing and in majority of rooms I play at use my comps for food.

cool, I hate the nit regs who don't tip, I make it a point to bluff em off every chance I get and give the dealer their money

by the way, you should move up to 2/5. Do you want to play vs welder/landscaper/cook etc fish or business owners/lawyers/lobbyist fish?
