The extra dollar on an un-even chop should go to the dealer. Done.

I tip way too much and even I don't tip on chopped pots. It's always funny when both players that chop the pot tip a dollar each.

*** Official Winrates, bankrolls, and finances ***

I tip in chopped pots when I needed to suck out to a chop.

Since most of the time it's the other person who needed to suck out I don't tip in most chopped pots.

Tipping everytime I raise, get 1-2 callers, cbet and take it down is a bit much IMO

This. Mildly relevant to winrate, but now it's just getting in to "I do x" "I do y" crap. No more tipping chat in this thread. Talking about the effect it has on winrate (cost vs benefits of better rulings, games, image, etc.) is ok, but no more of these "eff them, they're doing fine" or "you cheap bastard" posts.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

You probably want to tip just enough to have no detrimental effects based on how much influence some dealers/floors can have on your game selection.

In the majority of cases, I don't see how casino staff can intentionally/successfully block you out of a good game (that you are able to get in). If they are, you aren't doing a good job/doing yourself a disservice by letting casino staff treat you like that. It might be true that the staff is letting you get into a juicy private game in which case, well do your job and make their time worth their while.

Right now, I am tipping everytime I win a pot that goes to the flop or is above $10. I think I might be a slightly above average tipper based on that so I assume tipping costs me $3/hour, which seems to work out mathematically if the dealer is getting tipped average of $1 about 75-80% of the time every hand. I am guessing I can tip about half as much or 60% as much as I normally do without feeling bad or have dealers judge me as a bad tipper, which is more value for me. You can probably go even lower than that but that will subconsciously influence me to play less than optimally.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Well, according to Poker Journal which I've logged nearly 4000 hours of live Poker now:

Tipping, food, drinks comes up to about 9% of winrate. Obv food and drinks is a big chunk of that. I kind of wish PJ could show how much tokes are seperately.

Best way to track it accurately is to never tip

You guys are hilarious though, i used to post stuff like my last post ITT a couple years ago and get flamed. Now everyone agrees with me. WRs are really going down, huh?

Some of us simply accept the reality of social norm.

There are many things you could do that are more profitable, but is it actually +EV in the game of life?

What about chopping? Will chopping make my winrate go up or down if I am an average winner? Like what if I win 5bbs winning per hr ? Should I be chopping? But what if I make alot of mistakes heads up?

You're in a position to chop like once every few hundred hands, maybe? It's not going to affect your win-rate noticably whether you do or don't.

I always play, personally.
