1-3 has sucked for me this year, there's been some bad, bad variance, but I've tilted a couple BI's away too.

Luckily no matter what I do I can't lose at 2-5! My last session I was up 250 BB's in one orbit, AA first hand got stacks in and was good, TT two hands later, flopped a set, got stacks in, and then won a nice pot with JJ a few hands later, had a crazy good run at 2-5 in Vegas too last month, but dumped 700 of it into a 1-3 game later on.

RP, how much volume do you typically put in per year/month?

I generally am in a stage where I can't get enough, but that's because I only play once a week.

4 -5 times a year, I play far more intensely, when the tournament series come into town or I head to WSOP or Aussie Mirrions and by the end of a week of 35-50 hours, I'm generally ready to take a few weeks off

Diversifying and getting out are not one of the same.

And I said it before, I don't really enjoy the game, just like how I don't enjoy doing the actual work in my employment.

Trick to enjoy what you do isn't in loving the work that you do, but everything else about it.

Enjoy the people, the environment, the randomness, the challenge, the whatever.

I've been putting in 1 session a week plus the odd holiday session @ NL since 2010 (and before that @ Limit since 2006). Pretty sure the longest I've gone in that period without playing a session was 2 weeks (damn honeymoon!).

The key for me is keeping it at just a once-a-week hobby, one of many I have, coupled with the other responsibilities in my life. It's all about balance, imo.

Course, I'm guessing it also helps to run good pretty much the whole time.

March got off to a bad start last night with that damn variance thing striking with a vengeance at 2k max roulette. Got my money in good on Red after the wheel came 5 black in a row on $1000, followed by my 20 losing to a 12 in blackjack for $4500. Called it a night at -3k in 5 spins

So more like a good $2/5 game than a $1/2 game. Call it 12 bb/hr then, or $24/hr at a typical $1/2 with mostly $200 stacks. Good winrate for a good/decent player on a heater. Really interested in seeing how long you can maintain this pace and if you'll hit the doomswitch.

Where do you play? What is the rake? How often do you tip the dealer? Hard to believe that hourly is even remotely sustainable unless the game plays really big. It's definitely not even close to achievable at my local room.

Not going to answer where. Rake is normal 10% 4+1 and 6+1. Tip $1 on hands won after flop.

Good job differentiating that WR has less to do with blinds than average stack sizes.
