There are a couple of threads on this in the Las Vegas Lifestyle forum. Wynn has a good rep, though I hear they are moving their room, so everything might change.

Not to derail the thread, but the Wynn poker room is in the perfect location as far as I am concerned. I love sitting near the front so I can see all the sweet eye candy walk by scantily dressed at 2:30 a.m.

What does being near the poker room have to do with it?

Standard to check them out while my eyes are open.

Has anybody ever posted or compiled the posts that show graphs >2k hours in this thread?

I could have sworn I saw a few before but it's been lost in the muck now.

I'd like to see some to compare to my own

Yes.

I did in about Feb. Haven't posted another since then. It would be depressing.

Pretty sure I probably posted mine @ 2000 hours, where I was $28.33/hr at my 1/3 NL game.

At the 2,547 hour mark, I'm currently sitting @ $23.96/hr and rocketing towards zero.

I have a sample poast bf of approx closing in on 8k hrs

at 2/5

w/r over 10bb/hr
biggest ds approx 7.5k (with some bad play)
approx 1 losing month every 14 months. Losing months have all been small losers. Many 10k+ months
longest b/e is under 200 hrs (I cant remember the number)

My old computer got stolen. I have all my records on paper and 1 day will make a new database. I am committed to getting an app for my phone and will back enter all my data for grins

@squid: that's primarily 2/5 in Vegas with 1k buy-in & you bought in for 1k?
7.5k is biggest downswing, or biggest loss in one day?

most of the sample is vegas me buying in 1k
7.5k is my largest total downswing. AND there was some bad play.

I have said this before. My downswing is larger than every player I know in vegas who really pounds the game

it is larger than rob farha, cushlash, spc, and a few others who you guys dont know

Semi regularly I see good 2/5 players drop 2.5-3k in one session. I mean That's only 2.5-3BI's! Maybe Vegas games are just very different? How often are you getting all in pf or OTF with 200bb? Do you get whales blind shoving 100+BB?

I have said this countless times. The games in vegas are fine and very beatable. BUT the games in the hinterlands are epic in comparison.

True story: The other night I am gamboolin in my new locale. The game is frigging off the chain bananas - SPC is home sick. I am on the verge of texting to tell her she's got to come play. I then realize that it is a standard game in my new locale. Had this game been going down in vegas I would have stayed forever.

leaving Vegas for other games in other places = leaving your small town high school in woop woop and going to UT at Austin and realising that the girls you obsessed about in HS are now girls you walk past without noticing because there's a stone cold stunner around every corner

I appreciate the input and insight squid.

When we use the term downswing, I think the implication is losing stretch due to variance. It's helpful to me when a crusher says their downswing wasn't all variance.

When I dropped 6k in 40 hours at 2-5 ($500 buy in) a few years ago, I thought it was mostly variance at that time. I had a sufficient track record to establish that I was a winning 2-5 player and the creative ways people were cracking my big pairs was remarkable.

With hindsight, I realize that I didn't understand what my edge was at the time (lol weak tight ABC against a very soft pool) and my mental game went to total crap in a heartbeat.

Instead of downswing, I should call that stretch an education.

Very well said. Best post I've read in awhile. Exact same epiphany came to me and helped me on so many levels. Just wish I was self aware enough to learn the lessons sooner.

Variance doesn't stop at the cards. There is always variance in your decision making and your mental state.

Usual downswings at 500 max 2/5 was under 4K, swings at deeper games are much much higher, probably closer to 7/8k

And that of your fellow players!

I have experienced periods of strange variance on where stone cold nits seem to show up with winning garbage and the sort

Value of blinds is different in each game, and sometime even just one player can change that.

If a whale sits down in my game, I have no problem going from folding to 10bb with TPTK to calling 100bb with ace-high.
