As somebody who logged 600+ hours in the last 3 months, I agree that there's just no way you're going to be able to grind 270hours/month.

I managed to do that much for one month and I was beyond burnt out.

I occasionally play with/vs a top ex YGO player in Sydney who now crushes poker.

Would you know who I was talking about?

Hmmm. In Australia I only personally know 2 players there, one plays poker but as far as I know he isn't a crusher -- so I most likely don't know the guy personally but if he was actually a top player then I almost certainly would recognize his name or have mutual friends with. Off the top of my head though I have no clue

My favorite Aussie poker players are David Eldar, James Obst, Tony G (dual citizen?), and Mark Vos in that order. However, FW is definitely the biggest name and most skilled poker player from Australia. Word on the streets is that they offered him the hosting job for The Poker Star but he declined because he wanted to help Joe Hachem raise his profile with the general public in Australia.

So this is my first post in this thread, I had never really thought to keep track of hourly rates until I came here, it's a small sample size, but its somewhere to start:
(over the last 11 weeks and 1 day)

1-2 NL Hold'em 53 hours $18.87 per hour for 9.43396 BB per hour
1-3 NL Hold'em 34 hours $55.91 per hour for 18.63725 BB per hour
2-5 NL Hold'em 0.5 hours $154 per hour for 30.8 BB per hour
1-2 PLO Hi 1 hour $850 per hour 425 BB per hour
5-5 PLO Hi 4 hours -$463.25 per hour -92.65 BB per hour
Dealer's Choice 1 hour $42 per hour

Played 1 live tournament (~10 hours) 10th place/121 ITM for $196 profit after BI and Bubble payout

And that covers all live poker I've played over this time period. Not a large sample size at all but it's something to start on.

I'd recommend staying away from 2/5 PLO unless you have a really big roll.

ill go 1 step further and advise playing 1/2 plo as much as possible

LoL, I'm just saying in general 5/5 PLO plays bigger than 5/T NL. People play it because the blinds are small and lol short buyin but the variance is HUGE.

Or people just play it for fun because they can afford it?

The negative money is really all just one hand when a very bad river card hit for me in a very big pot.

I've built up a decent sized bankroll the last couple years through work and poker but the reason I play mostly 1-2 and 1-3 is that's normally all that's available in my area, only on weekends do the PLO games run, and for 2-5 the only game around is 100 miles away.
