Mine has been a combination of epic run bad (see my location) as well as some new leaks that round their way into my game.

I think I've mostly plugged the leaks that I found and I'm running a little better.

Found a few leaks of my own as well. I noticed I was opening too much up front against sticky opponents with marginal hands.

Also been playing a lot of small ball in my no-fold-em games by opening up a ton IP and concentrating on good spots post. Read bip!'s PC&G and he hammered home "range" which I've been doing a lot more. It's opened my eyes to all sorts of thin value and bluff spots that I wouldn't have seen before.

An honest Tootie! I recently played a hand so horrendously that I was going to post it. Then I thought, no, they'd have way too much fun eating me alive with this one..... so I chickened out. Instead, I followed it up the next day with another hand that I played horrendously.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

So decided to take another shot at our weekly 5/10 game as it was days before my 21st birthday. Made 3k, then on Saturday beat the 2/5 game for a 5k score. Pretty huge week for me, especially since I can now go to any casino. Got a new phone so I have to backup my data from before and I'll update my results.

I posted a 500 hour update to winrate and graph, so here's a 600 hour update. This is only 1/2 and 1/3 with nothing else filtered out, no sessions excluded.

Currently on an 11 session, $7400 win streak, which is obviously ridiculous.

Remember the tax was generated based on income earned in calendar 2010. Just so happened that the event occurred so close to Tax Day.
Wow one of the times you have to tip your hat to the GOV they pwn you in a way you wish you could do to your enemy, before we shut these sites down lets make sure its around tax time so the honest players that pay taxes will feel the cold blade of uncle Sam in their spine first

then again the GOV didnt stop payouts

We closed on our house in July and we moved into it empty of anything--no furniture, no dishes, nothing, because all our stuff was back in Virginia and we could not afford to go back there. It was a few months before I was able to win enough at the tables for us to go back to Virginia and haul our stuff here.

I didn't make a thread about it, because all I did was play. Eventually, I think it was after about two years, my wife found a job. But for the first two years, all we lived on came from the winnings I was able to make (and that was also during some of the worst run bad ). So, yeah, it has been a struggle.

But that was my whole point of mentioning what a struggle it was. We slept on the floor for a month before we had a spare $200 to go buy a cheap ass bed. We ate Ramen and comped pastrami sandwiches. And we both agree that we'd do the last 4 years all over again rather than be miserable with 8 times as much money, like we were back in Virginia.

Which is why I would never presume to tell another person "don't go pro." There are tons of ways to be happy, and ime, they dont include "making as much money as possible." For us, for example, there has been enormous satisfaction in surviving absurd levels of adversity and managing to avoid touching that retirement nest egg.

Nobody knows better than Johnny buzz what will give him satisfaction in life. So if he thinks happiness is taking a huge pay cut to grind, then that's what he should do. But, like everything else, I think he should be smart about it.

One thing I should mention that I haven't is that my wife and I first started talking about moving here in 2005, I quit practicing law in 2008 and we didn't move here until 2011. Some of the reasons for the delay were a daughter in college, looking after my dad in Virginia, we recognized the real estate bubble here in Vegas and waited for it to burst, and stuff like that. So we did exercise the patience I am encouraging buzz to exercise.
WOW epic feat Id hate to be the guy calling a 3 bet from you during this period I wouldnt be able to keep my nerves controlled at the table with all of that on my mind I would probably spaz shove TT just to release anxeity, beast

i noticed weekly games are often juicy, getting the bankroll asap to play that 5/10 every time it runs should be really good for you man

I took a bet with a 55years old rich "fish" that he won't lose 31lbs from 9th october to february 9th, he has 6' 239 currently, he has given me 1:3 odds, how +EV is this? #printingmoney

could go either way honestly. how well do you know him?

some people can lose a **** ton of weight if they cut a few simple things out of their diets - soda, booze, crappy bread carbs. add some minimal exercise and 4 months to lose 30 lbs isnt that unrealistic

granted, i'm not sure how well a 55 y/o could lose weight

I'd say make the bet on the smaller size so he will accept losing. If you bet like 2k or more I am sure he can find a way. He could probably cut like 10 pounds water weight on the last few days if hes taking it seriously. I think if you just bet a couple hundred its much more likely to succeed. Obviously this depends on what is a "big bet" for him.

Yeah you basically have to try to lowball the stakes and let him say that its got to be worth it, then try to find the minimum he would do it for. #propbetgamestrong

Ask him to hit it by 2/9 then hold it until 3/9.

Then that's a worthy bet.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

i didn't think about asking in the contract to hold it one month, thats genius damn it...

yeah the amount is very significant (for most, he's risking 26k atm) since I'm not the only one who bought action. he is very wealthy, one of the biggest fish at my local poker room... Not rare for him to lose a K on a 1/2 (serious). I think it's a flip really. the money doesnt matter much to him and his lifestyle would have to change A LOT for him to succeed (restaurantee bills you wouldnt believe)... and chrismas period too.

Earlier this week saw him at the local room with a glass of wine and a bag of chips...

Many don't believe in stop losses. A guy I've known for over a decade had a helluva' lotta' fun in a PLO game earlier this year. Bought in for $500 at a table with several people he knew.

As they all enjoyed themselves, as if it were a home game, the guy slowly works his stack up the ladder in yo-yo fashion. He is not shy when it comes to taking risks.

He laughs at the lost hands. He laughs at the hands won. He laughs his ass off all the way up to 13k & back down to being felted.

He calls it a night, as the yo-yo ride took some time & the way he looked at it: A helluva' lotta' fun for only $500.00

That's my definition of playin' poker for fun!.
