How much does having your girlfriend rail your sessions take off your hourly?

Lose/lose. Either she flips the doom switch and "you" lose or she sees how much "we" won.

But yeah, softness of games is the key to how big of an affect this has.

I have a complete appreciation for the impact of rake... But... A little while back my rooms bbj hi for roughly 1/2million. Next day the bbj was at over 1/2million. That's 1 million that was in the reserves that was no longer in play in the local poker economy. Imagine if they dropped $1m in the middle of the room to add to everyone's bankroll... Fish and crushers and everyone in between.

One of the biggest ever BBJs in our room was hit by an out-of-towner.

Letting him leave town with it is a pretty big -EV leak.

That's my biggest grip with BBJ, it's players money, leave it to the ****ing players.

The bar game I built my BR in last year has a BBJ now... it's a 1/1 game... they rake for the BBJ now and they rake even more for the high hand bonus I think because they also added that. The game plays small and just a 1$ increase in rake per pots is pretty significant when the game plays small, I think it's even unbeatable now. They even get raked in tourneys. what a ****** you have to be to play there.

Could alot of promotions help nullify rake even if WE arn't the direct recipient of them?

I.e. splash pots, high hands, silly raffle things.

Promotions drive traffic. They bring in players that wouldn't normally come to the room. That's better for the game than just a bunch of regs sitting around.

My main room recently did away with the bbj. They still rake the $1 but use it for hi hands, monthly all day promos where players who qualify all month have to come and be present all day for cash giveaways and other stuff. Supposedly the promo budget has to comply with some percentage approved by gaming. Basically they are distributing the promo in smaller chunks to more people. I suspect it's better for the room as a whole than a bbj.

I suspect the promo makes the smallest game in the room juicer but is neutral for the rest of the stakes.

Any time you give a large sum of money to one individual is a bad thing for the room.

Playing poker for money is a business. We're lucky pros don't have to single handedly pay for and deal with our marketing. We actually have our customers help pay for it.

At 1/2 I'm $16,116 over 539hrs with an hourly of $29.92, over a course of 7-8 weeks (yeah, I play 50+hours a week).

Overall is slightly lower including the 1 shot I took at 5/10 (ran bad oh well).

We may have a mutual acquaintance then. I have a buddy that plays poker that was a national champ...unless you live in Fl in which case I know you directly ( I don't believe you do).

Considering there's only a handful of national champions, and narrowing it down even further to those who play poker... you must be talking about Chris. Ah cool, yeah I know him.

You are a crusher (Both in terms of win rate and work ethic, I struggle to put in 30-40 hours a week and I don't even have a job... Only a few hours of pesky university) :3

Congrats and keep it up!
