How long is it gonna take me to build a roll from 1/2 to 5/10? Assume I am one of the top players in my player pool, so I should have a very high hourly at 1/2 and 2/5. Planning on moving somewhere where I don't know anyone and put in 60+hrs a week

It was a joke, but it really isn't a bad answer. Starting from 1/2 and if you are a winner and put in lots of volume you could be playing 5/10 at the end of a year.

way too long. as soon as I have 5k I'm taking 5/10 shots. seems way more reasonable to run good and make 20k in a few weeks than to grind it out at llsnl where no one ever folds for hundreds of hours

If the bolded were true, you would be able to answer your own question.

But, yeah, 10bb/hr is a good rate. So put in 2000hrs at 1/2NL, and before taxes and expenses you'd have $40k. 40 100bb BI plenty for 5/T.

Keep your expenses low.

Doesn't just have to be at 1/2. I can play 2/5 also, so if i were to wait until I had 40k, it shouldn't take 2000hrs

Might as well wait until you have 1k and go to 5/10.

How do you know you are the top player in your room?

Even if you are, how did you prove that to your self?
Where is all the money you made along the way?

If you dont want our answers, why did you ask?
Shot taking at 2/5 seems fine at 3k if you are not relying in the money to live.
Making 2/5 your game of choice should not happen until you have 6k - 8k. 10k would be safer.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

why wouldn't everyone here be trying to break into 5/10 asap by aggressively shot taking unless your legit at the casino for the lolz and recreation. who cares if you go busto. just crank out the hours at the low stakes to make up for aggressively shot taking

Not sure this belongs in this thread, but anybody do a 2 buy-in stop loss for the day or something like that. I have a tendency to play when I am too tired and/or distracted and I try to push through it only to lose multiple buy-ins.

Yes I think it is a great idea for most people to have a stop-loss

You should increase/decrease your stop-loss as you see fit

what is the point of a S/L other than that you have mental game issues that you are too lazy to address?

I use -300bb trailing stop, as I frequently top up.
