Re: Appreciate some advice on grinding 2-100 spread limit live HE

BaconMaker- I have not kept a log of live 1/2nl, however I have taken 6 trips to visit my uncle in Texas over the last 3 years and each time I do we go to Durant OK to play at Choctaw and I have paid for my trip each time. Online, I have never really grinded cash, I generally played MTT's. I have not played Seriously since BF, and even then wasn't a pro, I just grinded the rush mtt's and OD mtt's.

survival316? I did not know that was not allowed? I apologize if I did something wrong. Yes I am a member of both sites and posted on both sites to get advice from a variety of people.

If this is in the wrong section how would I move it without reposting this, since I think your not supposed to do that?

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Tip is the same thing as rake imo. No point in tracking it. It all is factored into the bottom line for me. Any given night you're tipping $10-25+

I need to start tracking my tips. That's like my biggest leak.

Why would you want to track something you can't control and will only give you gripes?

I agree that you shouldn't track it.

But you certainly can control it.
You are the only person who is in control of the amount of tips that you give to dealers.

I could move it, but I actually think it belongs better ITF, so I'll move it into the BR, Winrates and Finances thread.

I think tips is important to factor in your expenses.

Surely some of you consider the cost of gas when taking a new job.

I would assume that you guys have already made conscious choice of tipping at x amount, and by lack of control, I meant that you can't not tip.

And by can't, I meant if you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb.

DCHG doesn't tip. I tip but I am tipping dealers I don't like way too much and am overall just tipping too often in small pots. Before I was focused on growing my business but now that the business is established it's time to focus on improving operational efficiencies.

Wow I am running good lately. This year I have played 35 sessions 33 of which were winning, 1 was break even and 1 was losing. I am also currently on a 21 session winning streak. It feels so good to run good.

Wow, impressive?

Can't recall, were you in on the 20 session winstreak prop bet? If so, and you meet the requirements (I believe we said no hit/run sessions, so all sessions >= 3 hours?), might be time for us to pay up...

I was but this streak doesn't count for the propbet because one of my sessions was only a win because of a BBJP table share.

Many of my sessions were 12+ hours and one was 20 hours in order to chase losses. That probably wouldn't be possible for you because of RL circumstances.

I don't see why the bbj wouldn't count towards that unless you agreed to that beforehand. After all, we are paying $1 into it for every pot we win -- why should the losses on that bet count but not the only wins? It's a breakeven bet that adds to variance.

I was at a table a few days ago, new player sat down and immediately started doing things like bet half his stack blind utg. And a bunch of stack shoves blind pf. All the previously loosey goosies started tightening up a ton.

I had been the tight player the entire night to those guys. He blind shoved me sb vs bb I called w kt, win a stack. Table goes goofy, "How can you call w kt? You been playing tight all night. You on tilt?".

His last stack folded to us in the blinds. He doesn't look at his cards and asks me to pick a card. I point at one he flips it over, it's an ace. He shoves. I look at A 10. Call. Win.

Table says I must have went crazy.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Keep in mind it would have sucked to lose those, but at that particular table at that hour with few other tables going, that seemed to be the only hope of a profit. I also noticed the guy was pulling out 20s and counting his money pretty carefully after every bustout, so I was also afraid his money would be gone by the time I was in a good position. Luckily the table helped out by going super tight 2000.

Pretty standard - just picture the flip side where you lost all those hands and how you would feel the next time you face an opponent like that.
