re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Hey guys,

first time posting in LLSN. I played a lot online until a few years ago, from then on just the casual tourney from time to time. Never played live a lot, maybe 30h combined through various casinos, mostly while traveling. The closest casino to me offers 2/2 and 2/4 and I'd like to give live poker a shot. Starting roll would be €2,500 for 2/2, which is completely separated from live roll. 2/2 max buyin in 400, min is 100. I plan on buying in for 250 and see how it goes from there. How do you guys think 2/2 plays compared to 1/2 and/or do you have any other tips? Assuming I'm a winning player

Hey think I asked this question earlier in thread but wasn't specific enough....if I win a pot and tip 1$ in the poker journal app I would press "tokes+1" or "tokes-1"?

I live in Georgia. Cost of living here is pretty reasonable. I did just get back from florida and the fort lauderdale area is quite a bit higher. The cheapest two bedroom apartment there was 1300 dollars. Where I live in Georgia, you can get a 2 bedroom for like 800-900. I live in the suburbs on the east side of Atlanta.

That roll is a touch low, but people at the 1-2. 1-3. etc level are pretty horrible at almost everything so you might be able to get by, not recommended though. My biggest draw down over a sample of 1kish hours is 12 buy ins. One buy in=500

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

hey i started playing a ton of 1/2 what is the average winrate for winning players?

$15-$20? or is that the very best players?

has anyone itt posted a solid sample for 1/2?

like 1,500+ hours

EDIT: ive read the reasonable 1/2 winrate thread but the samples people were posting are meaningless 150 hours and such ><

Yea. There are some samples in that range ITT.

A small winner, or a player that started slow or went through a gnarly downswing might be in the $5-8/hr range. (Think about how many hands an online downswing can go for, then realize that you *might* see 30 hands an hour on average live.)

Solid winners have posted largish samples in the $15-20 range. There are some that are higher over 1000+ hours ... but it's pretty easy for some positive variance to do that. AND some live games are *insanely* juicy, so having access to one of those can really boost one's winrate through the roof.

Thinking of starting another P & G thread or posting here my results after certain benchmarks(ie 100hrs, etc.). Regardless these are my results after a small sample size of 30 hrs. at 2/3 & 2/5(low BB LA games) with some LLSN chip porn.

I have 1200 hours of 1/2 at just over $16/hour. It's tough to have a good winrate when so many players sit with only $40.

That's a ton of hours at 1/2. Why did you keep playing it rather than move up?

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

kinda similar story as mpethy -- I only needed about $1k per month extra money to meet my family budget needs.

I didn't want to keep a separate poker br nor deal with stress of big downswings.

I have played higher, though. I played and beat 2/4 full ring and six max online. I also played 5/10 live semi professionally for a while.

I've decided that I need a raise, though, and have been sitting 2/5 and 1/3 games this month. Results have been so good that I'm sure they aren't sustainable.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

~1100 hours of 1/2 exclusively. Some 400 max included. (1/2 of upswing was a good month against a whale who had more money than sense in that game) Currently in a 200 hour BE stretch that is making me question my skill level. Has anyone else hit a wall when transitioning to a 100BB max to 150? I feel like it's just a coincidence and leveling off from my upswong, as I'm also around -2500 in All in EV, but that still would be below my former WR. I'm wondering if I'm perhaps taking too strong of lines by not pot controlling my medium strength hands IP. Probably need work in switching around my 3 streets of value vs 2 type ranges, but I would be interested in hearing any other similar stories!
