re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Why would you include driving a car into your hourly win rate?

Think before posting nonsense like that.

How is that nonsense? If you have to spend a lot of time commuting/waiting for a seat etc it changes things a whole lot.

Here is an example. For a lot of people the casino isn't right around the corner. Let's say the nearest casino is 1 1/2 hrs away. Also I have other obligations where I can only put in an 8 hour session.

Let's go on the assumption I do really well at the game. I make $20 an hour at 1/2. The expectation of $20 an hour is $160. That's all well and good until you realize that your hourly rate has just gone down to about $14 an hour once you factor in travel time and waiting for a seat.

I wouldn't include travel time into my winrate either, but that's just me. It's the same thing as commuting to and from work.

Solid advice...

But I guess if you never use a bank account it's possible, lol.

Exactly, I time myself when I sit at the table and cash out or bust out. So my hourly includes breaks/bathroom breaks. I don't take lunches. If I did I wouldn't count that.

Does anyone play 4hours and then have lunch and then play 4 more hours?

I include bathroom breaks just because it's usually 5 minutes. I like to play 8-10 hours straight, never been big on taking breaks at live poker.

When I had a regular job I got paid for every break and bathroom break. I treat poker the same.

I used to when I live roughly 45 minutes away from the casino. I personally don't like playing long sessions, so I'd play 4 hours, go get some lunch/dinner, and come back for a second session.

Now I'm a 2 minute walk from the casino, so I just play till I don't feel like playing anymore.

For the people wondering about travel time. I personally think you should start your session when you start your commute.

You may not include it in your hourly, but you have to admit once you realize the commute takes up a huge portion of your day that hourly becomes less attractive. This applies to jobs as well.

Take your pick between two jobs.

A) $20 an hour with very little commute
B) $22 an hour with a commute of 1 hour each way

If you pick B you don't really value your time.

Can't tell if you're leveling or not... But if you use a bank account and never pay taxes and get audited, you would be in a HEAP of ****.

This is against the law, people. Tax fraud is horrific advice.

You don't pay rent? Or own/lease a car and pay for car insurance? Do you go to school or have student loans? Credit cards? Pay for health insurance? You live completely off the grid?

ilcd proves he is a fool on a daily basis - this is simply icing on the cake...I am sure he would also advise that players structure when depositing large sums of $.

He is busto - wonder if it is due to bad luck or lack of skill. Based on his poasts I am reasonably sure I know which.

Your advice is down right WRONG stick to the chat thread pal

Get poker journal. It calculates your game hourly and your real hourly. As you leave your house, you can start a session and immediately hit pause. This will add to your real hourly, but not your game hourly. Do the same thing with breaks while at the room.

[ ] Knows how many people live in the US.
[x] Probably never gonna get caught.
[x] If caught will have to pay 5+ figures in back taxes.

Please ignore any tax "advice" ILCD is giving. Committing tax fraud is not suggested. ILCD please stop posting your advice. If you don't want to pay taxes then don't. Please don't tell others to do it.
