re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

I actually downloaded the image shack app (and paid a whole .99) but can't figure out how to copy the URL. It says to simply double tap but it was a no go, so just used the website. Cool tool, never knew how to upload my stats

I don't think it's possible to play 10 hour sessions optimally, at least not without a ton of experience.

But, you know yourself best. I could never do that though.

What's WR and how many hours total at 1/2?
I wouldn't recommend playing 2/5 with 4k, unless you're okay with fairly high ROR

Absolutely. I go to school in CT so when I make it to Foxwoods once every couple weeks I put in marathon sessions just bc it's so far. Back home I play a very strict time schedule.

I never kept very accurate records at 1/2 until the last month or so of summer when I got an iPhone and got poker tracker, but from what I gathered from my notes, i was around 4bb/hr over about 400 hrs.

No way would I play 2/5 with 4k, I'm a br nit. Will look to start taking 2bi shots at around 6k and wouldn't fully transition until around 10k or when I feel comfortable.

Ah. I would consider 20$ at a combo of 1/2 and 2/5, mostly 1/2 pretty good.

9/14 -> 9/20 was one hell of a week. What is the 25/50 OE? Is that Omaha 8 or better hi-lo, 25-50 limit?

Confirmed. No kill either. I only played while waiting for a 2/5 seat.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Is there anyone here that plays 2k hours or more every year at 2/5? If someone can make $50/hr and is a sick grinder and isn't lazy, can't this player pretty much net $100k a year?

I mean there surely has to be some sickos that play 50 hours a week right? Someone like this could possibly hit the 100k mark every year? And before someone says... no he will probably move up to 5/10... say that player isn't making much and is overwhelmed by the players at 5/10 and just stay at 2/5... that seems possible?

Yea i know poker players are lazy but there those who sleep, breath and dream poker. Curious about if anyone knows someone like that where one has a high hourly rate and just plays tons of hours like a machine.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

I think there are people like that, definitely. I've only played live for the past year+, so I can't say "every year" but I don't see why not. I play higher when I can though, so 2/5 isn't my main game, but it's certainly doable.

They just end up spending a lot of that 100k as they earn it.

If you can make $50/hour at 2/5, you can probably make more in some 5/10 games. Lots of players switch between stakes anyway.

That said, it might be hard to get that many hours at 2/5 if you game select a lot and play lower when it calls for it. Poker can also be draining.

It's possible, but the likelihood of anyone wanting to put themselves through that is very low.

What I am saying is that 1000 hours at $50/hr is 50k, and plenty good for most people. Spending twice as much time for that second 50k is very miserable.

re: Winrates, bankrolls, and finances

Hours played and high hourly are so key. Its really hard for me to average 40 hours a week every week. You have to add the times you run bad where you lose buyins quick. Or when you run hot and win fast and end up leaving after 3 hours.

For your friend to have 2100 hours this year is pretty sick. With so much variance of length of play, its hard to have that many hours, he sounds like a true grinder.

I am curious about this guy's play style? I always assume high volume grinders end up being ABC tag. Is that the case or no? Pretty impressive win rate if he is ABC and that is 2/5!

1000 hours is 40 hours/week for 25 weeks. That means you are taking a 27-week vacation. I get 4 weeks a year ... I would take 5. Anything beyond that, I'd probably go crazy.

On $50K a year, it's not like you are living large and can travel the world.
