Is there a substitute app for Poker Journal for the Android phone? I can't find Poker Journal for the Android and want a good substitute to match it. Do I have a choice at all?

$2/5 at my casino is uncapped, but usually almost everyone has at least $500 in front.

I was going to initially call BS on this, but then I went over my own records and I'm not too far off.

Yesterday, I booked my 2nd worst session ever, a 2.95 BI (with BI = 100 BBs) loss (thanks in large part to running KK into AA twice in one session, something I've never done before). My single session record remains a 4 BI loss (2 BIs of which I blew off with very poor play).

So then I went over my worst "downswings" over my lol ~770 hr sample size at 1/3 NL. I've twice recorded 4.57 BI stretches, the first one over 3 sessions (one of which included my 4 BI session loss), the other over a 4 session losing streak (my record for number of losses in a row, which I've done twice). Only one other time have I booked a streak where I've lost more than 3 BIs (losing 3.15 BI in my other 4 session losing streak).

So, it's actually not as far fetched as I thought about never encountering a 3 BI "downswing", although it still seems a little unlikely.

1,000 doesn't seem that small. Compared to the number of hands you played online it is, but it would give you a true-enough idea that you can crush.
Also, I hadn't seen this graph get much love (golf claps) but it's hot.

I have a 720 hour sample. I have won money in 76% of my sessions and am a winning player.

The average length of my winning sessions is 3.9 hours while the average length of my
losing sessions is 4.4 hours. Do you guys think its a leak that I am staying at the casino
longer when I am stuck compared to when I am winning? And do you guys have the same leak?

.5 hour is what, 10 - 15 more hands? If it's a leak, it isn't much.

I only win 65% of my sessions, but I include changing stakes in one session as multiple sessions (ie. play at 1/2 while waiting for 5/10 seat)

I do this, too; it seems the only way that makes sense to me.

I find it almost impossible that anybody has ever had larger than a 3BI downswing over an extended period and think it is far more likely that they are benefiting from a sampling error where they are only sampling at the beginning/end of each cashout. There is a concept in electric engineering called the Nyquist Criterion where if we sample a signal incorrectly we will get a signal that looks similar but is incorrect (different frequency/amplitude) due to aliasing.

if we play longer to get "unstuck" our swings in the "real sense", if you were to keep track of it in poker tracker, would be the same but because we are measuring them from the time we buy in to the time we buy out we see much smaller swings in our graph

So you think we should be tracking each buyin instead of each session?

I don't think it really matters, just that it is like mathematically impossible to have only a 3 BI loss and it is much more likely that it is a measuring error

short sessions are great. i try to play 2-3 hours when i play now. it's improved my hourly tremendously (that and the heater i've been on).

you'll argue that i can't get reads on the table. right now, i get reads in two hands or so. plus there are a lot of people i recognize at the table so i have history on them.

two hours doesn't give them time to figure out how aggressive i'm being.

How long does it take you to get to/from the casino? Ever order any food? I would think these things would devastate the overall $$$.

casino is about 15-20 minutes away depending on traffic. i've had it take an hour. but now there's no traffic because i am going at 10, 11 at night.

i'm not there long enough to order food unless i'm getting it to go after the session with my comps.

i just made a conscious decision a couple of months ago that i wanted some semblance of a life back. i work 4 p.m.-midnight. So I get to the casino at 12:15-12:30. I sit down and play and my goal is to make sure I am home, eat and in bed by 6 a.m., so I can keep a normal schedule the next day.

i used to stay as long as i wanted to. some days this meant staying until 6, some days noon, some days 24 hours. you know what that does to you.

i have a great excuse to leave now, too: i have to give one of the dealers a ride home.

sunday night, her shift was done at 1 a.m. i showed up at 11:30 knowing i was only playing 90 minutes. if i won $20 or lost $20, sobeit.

i played 29 hours total in september. i played 10 hours total in 4 sessions over the weekend.

i'm also being very results oriented. i'm not fixing what isn't broke for me.

it's football season, which is limiting hours/session length as well.

i was finding myself a little bored with poker about 6 weeks ago. this has helped. i had actually set up a stupid challenge of buying in for $100, winning or losing $100 and going home. if it meant 20 minutes, i was done in 20 minutes. that lasted one night because just winning $100 isn't why I go to the casino.

sorry to ramble.
